"Ugh, what a pervert. He had to have planned that." Breanna then glanced at her son. "I'll talk about this later. Now isn't a good time. But please text me if you hear anything." The mother sighed, "Ok. Thank you, Theresa. Bye."
"What was that all about?" Spencer gulped.
His mom was still sifting through what she had been told. "Uh, well, apparently, Jenna, a friend of Theresa's, who was at the cocktail party last night, said she saw someone peeking into the window and watching everybody."
Spencer faked a surprise, letting his eyes go wide. He hoped he was not overselling it.
"Yeah..." Breanna nodded in agreement with her son's reaction. "Apparently, he put his shirt over his face when he was in the front yard, and the cameras were too far away to see anything. And then he must've known where all the cameras were 'cause he ran to the sides of the house where Malcolm, apparently, decided he didn't need any frickin' cameras at all because, hey, there are no doors there. So the pervert got to stalk us through the window. But then Jenna saw him, and he just ran off like a scared rat. What a frickin' creep."
Every time Breanna opened her mouth to speak, Spencer remembered what she had done with it the night before. He urged his mind to get back to the task at hand. Spencer was not free and clear. "You said something about the security officer?" He picked at his thumbs.
"Well, I asked Theresa why Jenna didn't just call the cops when she saw the guy. She said she wasn't sure what she saw, and she didn't wanna 'kill the party'."
"Wow. That sucks you couldn't see anything."
"Yeah, I know. Wait! Can't you get the video and then auto-zoom or auto-enhance the face? You can probably do that kind of stuff."
"That's actually not really a thing," Spencer informed her, truthfully.
"Really? I could've sworn I've seen that on tv a bunch of times. Is it a certain type of program you need?"
"No, it's just all fake in those shows. Videos and pictures are just a collection of pixels. So basically, it's a bunch of boxes of color put together that make an image. The more pixels, or boxes of color, the more detail you can have. Those cameras already captured his face in the most pixels they could, and zooming in would just make those same pixels bigger. You can't add pixels and detail." Spencer's explanation was more about calming his own nerves than answering his mom's question.
"Dammit. Well, I still think the security officer should get involved."
