Dawa forcefully smeared the semen like cream on Soma's face. Her whole face is covered in semen. When the red tip of the forehead moved, Dabwa put it in its right place. Soma said---Iss! Let me wash my face. You are very dirty.
Dawa laughed and said---I used to smear my Kesavi's mother with such semen. She never had a grudge. This randa loved me very much.
Hearing Dawa ji praise his dead wife, Soma felt a strange jealousy. She says---If you like me sitting dirty like this, then i don't wash my face.
Dawa said---No. You are not my wife? Who will love me like Kesavi's mother. You can do what you wish.
Soma suffered. She pressed her face to Dawa ji and said---But who am I to you? Am I not your wife?
Dawa smiled softly. He said---If you were a wife, don't disobey me.
---What must be loyal to be a wife?
---In your highly educated society, husband-wife relationship is different. In our society, as the wife will have the love of the husband, the wife will listen to her husband.
Soma laughed and said---I disobeyed?
Dawa romantically hugged Soma and kissed her on the lips, immediately Soma jumped up and said---Iss! Did you kiss me on that dirty face? Don't you have anything called hatred
----What's hatred in love? Now wash your face. This is my order.
Soma smiled shyly and went to the bathroom after fondling Dawa ji's broad chest.
Ram Ratan took the car from the plant. Driving through New Delhi was a bit blocked due to traffic. A political partiy's rally is marching towards Parliament. It is almost two in the afternoon. After the traffic jam, Subir reached his quarter past three in the afternoon. Today is Saturday, so his duty period is till lunch hour. Subir changed his clothes and put them in the trash. The laundry did not come for a few days. His servent Dinnath appeared by knocking on the door, said--Sir, would you like to drink tea?
Subir shook his head. After taking a bath, he saw that Dinnath had left the tea. He sipped his tea and sat down comfortably. He has been thinking about many things for a few days. Nothing feels good at the moment. He has an old bookshelf, he looked at it. That shelf was actually not bought by Subir, it is actually a previous officer's. He left it after retiring. Subir kept it even though he discarded all the things he used. Both Soma and Subir love to read books. The bookshelf has never been cleaned. Only at the very beginning Soma once came to Delhi and packed up. It has remained the same ever since. There are many books, more books in this shelf than in his house in Kolkata. The old officer had a lot of books, along with the books bought by Subir. Subir started looking at the books in the bookshelf. A book by Alberto Moravia caught his eye, although Subir did not buy it, he read it during his college life. The name of the book is 'The Conjugal Love'. That novel is about the life of a writer couple, the conflict of the writer's sense of life centered on his wife's alienation. Subir smiled to himself. In his life, there is a conflict going on now. Subir remembered the novel "Madhukari" written by Buddhadev Guha, which he read during his college life also. There was also a character 'Prithu Ghosh'. Subir, however, knows he can never be Prithu Ghosh. What should he do as the husband of an adulterous woman? Subir thought about it again and again; Firstly he can give divorce, secondly he can stay silent thinking about two sons and his family. Men choose either of these two paths. Subir knows that Soma is intelligent, educated, govt employed, maybe having an illicit affair with a low class watchman. It does not mean that she will make the mistake of divorcing Subir or even if divorced, she will not leave sons in any way.
Subir also realizes with much regret that their marital relationship has become monotonous for a long time. During their long married life, as husband and wife stayed away from each other, there was also a lot of distance between them. Otherwise, why can Soma commit such a sin? The companionship that Soma wanted from Subir as a husband, as the head of the family, was not fully given by Subir. Soma is an educated, a collegeteacher, had not sought freedom from her so far confined life of husband and children, but had a decidedly libertarian spirit. What should Subir do now? He will never be able to fulfill the responsibility of two sons like their mom, Soma may have degraded as a wife, but as a mom she is perfect.
Sometimes Subir thinks; Soma committed no sin. he is responsible. Then Subir thinks what else is left in their conjugal life. He should release Soma like a free bird. If Soma wants a divorce, he will grant the divorce. It does not mean that they can sustain this marriage just by having two sons. But Subir will never divorce Soma on his own. If Soma wants, he will give divorce.
