Chitra got a summer internship offer from a reputed company in Gurgaon. Her father was happy but worried at the same time to send his daughter to Gurgaon all alone, she had just appeared for her 12th exam. He had a tree storied house in Gurgaon and had it rented to families. He occupied the ground floor and was staying with his wife and his younger brother. Both his sons were abroad for education. Though he was retired, he was in his late 40s, ie. little older than her own father. He was not retired due to age but, as he said, had to do so due to physical injuries in combat. Though no one knew the truth. His younger brother was more than 10 years younger to him, in his early 30s.
On arrival, they were greeted by Girotra family. Capt Girotra was a tall man with scary face. There was no physical deformity visible in his appearance. He had a shapely mustache and army cur hair on his balding head. His belly seemed out of shape for an army man. He appeared very strict and with a strong authoritative voice. Her confident father also appeared very soft in front of Capt Girotra. Capt’s brother, on the other hand, was too soft for a man. In fact his gestures were ‘girly’. She was just an audience in the conversation. She was told that she will be staying on the top most floor. The floor was vacant as the family staying there had just left and uncle was not going to look for any more tenants in the duration of her stay there. Mr Gupta was obliged to hear that. In fact he offered to pay the rent amount and that was immediately refused by Capt uncle. Her father was very impressed and thankful to his friend and told him that he was more than comfortable to leave Chitra there.
Over and above, he told Chitra to obey Capt Girotra (Ajay uncle for her now) and follow strict discipline. In fact he gave all liberty to Capt Girotra to punish her in case required. Capt Girotra had a sly look at her and smiled through his mustache and assured Mr Gupta the safety and wellbeing of his daughter.
Chitra’s mother stayed with her daughter there for the first few days. Helped her settle and organize her new adobe. And within weeks time Chitra was alone in the 2 BHK flat. She was enjoying her internship and her stay alone. Uncle was non interfering and gave her all freedom that she wanted. Obviously the rules were set much before with her father. And as a good girl she agreed to all conditions. The conditions were very simple, no boys at home, no liquor/drinks or party and no coming late. That wasn’t much difficult for her to obey. Anyway she used to obey all this at her own house. Days passed. It was almost 3 weeks now and she was completely engrossed in her work.
