What followed was an eerie silence. Disha was furious, half the college knew lies about her, not that she could go back and change the same, yet she would think about the same every time she met on of her classmates. Disha realized she had done a huge mistake by even going out with a jerk like her ex.
“Look you don’t have to beat yourself for that. Most of the guys anyways never believed half of what he said.”
“But You Did?” Disha interrupted.
“Do I look like someone who would know the difference?”
“Yes I should have known that.” Disha blurted out, absent mindedly, as soon as the words escaped from her mouth, she realized her mistake. She cupped her mouth and looked apologetic, she continued, “I am really sorry. Did not mean it that way.”
He did not say anything. It made the situation even worse.
The Nerd got back working on the computer, the screen showed installation at 77%.
Disha sensed the uneasiness in the room, she felt bad. He had after all he had agreed to come and help her and she instead was insulting him. Disha excused herself and went to the ground floor, she needed a coffee badly and he too seemed to agree for one. The black coffee was ready in few minutes. She poured it in two cups and took it to her bedroom.
The sudden realization that she had someone in her bedroom that she was serving coffee made her realize the awkwardness of the situation. She had never been in this situation even with her ex-bf, the gentleman who had lied about sleeping with her. Disha would never see The Nerd in that way, in fact she had never seen him in any way apart from that of a classmate. The Nerd was just a well informed friend, whom you called when you needed to buy anything related to computers. She walked into the room, placed the coffee on the table, he thanked her for the drink. She then walked sat on the floor busy getting busy packing.
“So you guys mostly talk about girl friends when you meet is it?” Disha enquired.
“Occasionally yes.”
“But what about you?” Disha was more curious now, yes she knew he had no known girl friend and he was more of a silent type. It could be seen as insulting, but she was just curious.
The Nerd looked at her, trying to figure out if she was insulting him again or just plane curious.
“I usually grab a drink and listen. Unless they talk about computers of football.”
“So you have never been around with anyone.”
“What makes you think I have been around with anyone?”
It was not hard for her to believe him. He did not look like someone who would do that, there were a few hundred jokes going around about how him. Her ex-bf used to make fun of him too. He did not look all that nerdy. Thin face and a thick rimmed pair of glasses made him look cute in a strange way. Disha too had not felt the touch of a man in a long time, and the sudden thought of not having had any physical contact the last few months made her think.Suddenly The Nerd looked like an option, an necessity which would fit her bill. The way she figured out, he was fit the bill perfectly. He had what she did not have and chances were his would be bigger than her ex’s. Even if he told anyone, which she doubted he would, no one would believe him. Disha looked at him one more time.
This time with a definite lust filled eyes. Blue jeans tightly snuggled around his thin frame, the white t-shirt with collar made him look cute. And then there was the thick framed glass, suddenly it made him look more attractive and mysterious.
“Oh I am desperate.” Disha thought.
The Nerd turned to her and said, “The installation is over. You just have to install the driver cd, which is easy.”
“Yes I know that.” Disha replied, she got up from the floor, “You still have not finished your coffee.”
The Nerd reached for his mug of coffee and sipped from it.
Disha looked at him one more time, “Did she really want to do it?”
The thought lingered in her mind, she had no idea how long it would be before an opportunity like this presented itself.
She then looked at herself.Dressed in a chocolate brown three fourths and a dark tank top, she looked ravishing. The hair had been let loose and it fell all the way down. She reached for a band tied her hair down. Before she finally got out of the moment, she decided to finally go ahead.
