"What ?" was all that she could say

"Agar aapko randi banne ke liye jail nahi jaana hai to randi banna padega"
The cop told her in a slow measured voice

We both were shocked at hearing the cop's condition. No way either of us is going to accept something so ridiculous and bizarre.

"I am not understanding" my wife replied to the cop

"Cmon madam,  you understand everything. Tum bholo bhali bane ki koshish mat karo" The cop mocked her

My wife kept quiet. At least she had bought some time.


"apne kapde khol" the senior cop ordered my wife

She looked at me for help. We both were confused. Both the choices we had were horrible. But we had to decide which was less horrible.


"Kya hua madam ? Kuch decide kiya ?  Kapde kholna hai ya jail jana hai" ? The cop asked with a hint of impatience
("what happened madam ? Want to strip here or go to jail ?")

My wife was in tears. She just couldnt accept any of the choices.
