Chapter 9: The Dilemma
Friday, April 20th, 2018
It was just past 12 noon. Barb and Sid were seated at their table at one of the most elegant restaurants in town- "The French Room".
Their waitress, an attractive Blonde woman, greeted them and asked " Are you celebrating any special occasion, like an anniversary?"
"Oh, it's actually a farew....." started Barb. But she was cut off by Sid who said " It's a first date actually" with a wink.
"Thats Wonderful. You certainly picked the right place" said the waitress with a smile. "And may I add, you both make a stunning couple"
Barb blushed while Sid had a wide grin on his face. Barb felt a nervous energy. The waitress comment was a confirmation from a stranger on what a hot pair she and Sid were.
The next 2 hours flew by with some great food and flirty banter between them along with a couple of cocktails. Barb usually wouldn't drink at lunch on a working day but she joined in this time.
Barb was feeling a light buzz from the alcohol by the time the meal was over and the bill arrived. Since it was Sid's farewell lunch, Barb insisted on paying for it. Quite a few heads turned as the couple exited the restaurant. More than one male guest looked up to check out the bombshell- with her gorgeous face, Long legs and what was clearly a pair of large breasts under her flimsy white shirt.
Once outside in the parking area, Barb spoke up " I feel guilty going back to office after 2 drinks"
"Office? I am not going back to office" said Sid, laughing.
"What?" asked Barb, surprised.
"What else is left for me to do? It's my last day. Anyway, none of our team members have even come in to work today" said Sid. " I'm just going to go back to my apartment and relax with another drink. You should join me, Barb" he invited.
Sid's unexpected invitation startled Barb. How would she explain this to Sam. Drinking in her male colleague's apartment in the middle of the afternoon. Just the 2 of them, that too.
"Uh..I....I have some work to finish before end of the day" she said. In reality she knew the work wasn't urgent but was looking for an excuse to avoid the potentially dangerous situation.
"The work will be there on Monday also. I will be gone by then though" said Sid.
His words jolted Barb. She was normally confident, with an answer for everything, but this time she couldn't find the right words.
"Anyway, I will not force you" said Sid, sensing her discomfort as he typed something into his phone. "I have texted you my address" he said. "If at any time this afternoon you feel bored, my invitation for a drink at my place is open. Feel free to join me".
"Ok" said Barb, in a non committal way.
"We should get a pic together atleast" said Sid. Barb agreed with him and handed over her new iPhone to a guest who was headed into the restaurant, requesting him to click their pic as they stood infront of a sign "The French Room".
Sid placed his hand around her upper waist as the man clicked their pic on Barb's phone.
"Well Barb, I really hope to see you at my place in a few minutes" said Sid, turning towards her. "But in case you decide not to come, then this is the last time I see you" he said as he leaned in for a hug. Barb reciprocated his hug as she felt his toned, muscled body under his shirt. It sent an electrifying feeling through her. After a few seconds, she pulled away, realizing that they spent quite a long time hugging in the restaurant parking lot.
"See You" said Sid as he waved and headed towards his car.
Barb's mind was racing on the 15 minute drive back to the office in her own car. She prided herself on doing the "right thing" in every situation. Definitely the right thing here was to decline Sid's invite and head back to office to avoid any complications. But the debate in her mind was continuing. How long would she keep doing the right thing or the safe thing instead of doing the exciting/fun thing? What all was she missing out on? Her husband, Sam, was a perfectly nice and decent guy but he really didn't rock her world. As a lover he was inexperienced and not at all creative. And then there were the....performance issues..He barely lasted 4-5 minutes in bed. In fact, in their last session she doubted he even made it to 2 mins. She knew that physical attraction and wild sex wasn't the only thing in a marriage, but it anyway left her feeling a little irritated.
Barb steered her car into the parking area outside her office and checked her phone. She saw that the pic of her and Sid had come out quite good and instinctively, she sent it on her Gals WhatsApp group. Almost immediately, the replies and compliments started coming in. Her pals were teasing her about this handsome hunk that she was posing with. She felt like she was in college again with the excitement of the messages. It was exactly the confidence boost she needed.
She looked up Sid's address on Google Maps on her phone and started the 10 minute journey towards his place, rather than stepping into the office. "It's just a drink" she said to herself. "No Big deal"
