Chapter 8: D-Day
Friday, April 20th, 2018
Two weeks had somehow flown by. Barb had gone out of her way not to show her feelings or appear vulnerable to Sid. She just wanted this to pass by and return to normal.
However, as she awoke on Friday, Sid's last day, she was feeling a mixture of emotions. Sam had already left for work early, and Barb took her time getting ready. Whenever she was nervous or worried, Barb like to dress up her best. It made her feel confident to face the day ahead.
For this day, Barb picked out the shortest formal skirt in her wardrobe. It was beige in color and one she had never worn to work before. It ended well above her knees unlike her usual, more professional skirts. She wore a light colored, lacy Victoria's Secret bra. She had fallen in love with that brand and their lingerie after moving to US. Over that, she wore a white shirt and completed the look with a pair of high heels. Barb sure was looking sexy today!
Barb entered office around 10 AM. She noticed that most of her team mates were missing from their desks. She tried to move on with her tasks for the day but was clearly unable to focus.
"Can you believe this?" Barb looked up to see Sid at her desk.
"Huh" asked Barb unable to understand what he was talking about.
"It was to be my farewell lunch today and the entire team is out of office, even Allison" said Sid, clearly frustrated.
"Whaat?" asked Barb, surprised at this turn of events.
"This is the appreciation I get after years of service" complained Sid. "To hell with this, I'm turning in my laptop and heading home"
"Hey..No, thats not fair. You shouldn't get so upset on your last day" said Barb, standing up to talk to him.
"I'm still here...Lets go have a nice lunch. Some place fancy" she said putting on a smile.
Sid's face brightened "You are certainly dressed for the occasion" he said checking her out, as Barb blushed.
