Chapter 3 : The Right to Live?
Our mind works in mysterious ways. All of us must have experienced the feeling of deja vu in our lives. Why this happens is still a mystery. That's not the only strange phenomena though when it comes to mind. How most of us can shut out even the darkest memories of our lives somewhere in our mind and with time even forget if such things ever happened is equally amazing. Rahul too had shut the chapter of Priya somewhere in his mind and with time he learned to move on with his life. Still we can run as fast as we can but no one can outrun destiny. The demons of his past were finally catching up with him. With tears in his eyes a name came out of his mouth, "Priya....."
It happened only a few years ago but it sure felt as if it happened in another life. His job, Kalpana and than the death of his mother all happened years after Priya left him but it sure wasn't easy forgetting about her. After all who can forget about their first love? He was unlike most youngsters. It must be due to his father and the dream of one day becoming a cop like him that even at young age he was so focused about achieving the goals of his life. Thanks to his hard work he got admission in one of the top colleges in the country. It was there he saw her and ended up losing his focus. She was a stunner when it comes to looks. At 5'8 she was fair skinned and while slim, she had reasonably big bosom and a face to die for. Soon his dreams changed from becoming a cop to one day marrying this angel who took his heart away. It was love at first sight and like they say, there is no fool bigger than the one in love.
After a few days when he recovered his focus, he used it to get near to her. He started by gathering any information he could get about her. Her family only moved back to India a few years ago. Before that his father worked hard for years in an IT company abroad. After saving enough money, his father decided to move back to India and opened his own IT company here. Thanks to his experience and the links he made abroad, his company soon made a name for itself in IT field. At heart Priya's father was a typical Indian and still didn't forget about his background. He didn't wanted his children to get wayward and that along with his love for his country were the reasons why he decided to move back to India. Priya's mother was a house wife and she had a younger brother as well. That was the extent of what he could find about her family. Besides in order to get near to her he needed to know about her rather than her family. He was a good observer as well and soon started noticing her likes and dislikes.
It wasn't that difficult getting into her friends circle as Priya's best friend was his neighbor. Once he become friend with Priya, it didn't took him much time to get close to her using the knowledge he had gathered about her. He was always pampering her and doing everything he can to make her happy. She too started enjoying the extra attention she was getting from him and it wasn't as if she was getting any at home. Her father was too busy in his business and he was just way to strict with her anyway. Her mother was busy ordering her servants and in her kitty parties. Yes her brother surprisingly worshiped her but he was just too young to be considered as a friend. It was different with Rahul though. He was proving out to be the friend she always wanted. What she didn't knew at that time was that he wanted to be more than friends with her. Both their lives turned upside down when he finally expressed his feelings to her. They were friends for a few months now and the more he spend time with her, the more he fell in love with her. From her looks to the way she walked, her fragrance to the way everything brightened up when she was talking were all very enchanting to him. Her birthday was coming up next month and he decided to express his feelings to her that day. He started saving money but still didn't saved enough to buy anything he deemed worth of her. For the first time in his life as asked his father for money and to his delight he hot it as well. He ended up buying a silver necklace for her. On her birthday he managed to take her away from the other friends to a park and after giving her his gift, started confessing his love to her.
Rahul:"Priya I wanted to say something to you for so long now that if I'll still keep it to myself than I'm afraid that I might die."
Priya:"What is it Rahul and why didn't you told me before? We are friends right and friends don't hide things from one another."
Rahul:"I guess it's not easy confessing such feelings but now I must. Priya I love you and fell in love with you at first sight. Please tell me that you feel that same way about me?" She was just stunned upon hearing that. She remained quite for a few minutes before replying him.
Priya:"I'm sorry Rahul but I never thought about you this way. I always saw you as a friend and maybe even as a brother. Infact you are my best friend. Please lets remain as friends. I don't want to lose my best friend now. Maybe it's better if I just go now. You are coming to the party right? We can talk later."
She was feeling uncomfortable with what he said and just went away from him as fast as she could after saying this. In her panic she ever dropped the necklace there that he gave her as a gift. For the first time in his life he was heart broken. With tears flowing from his eyes he picked up the necklace that he ground. Later that night while cutting her birthday cake Priya noticed that her best friend didn't came to her party. Rahul on the other hand had buried his head in his pillow and kept on crying for hours that night. When the tears finally stopped, his anger slowly took over his sorrow and he thought to himself "How could she break my heart like this? Alright bitch if you don't care about my feelings than I'll make sure that you will pay for playing with my emotions like this.".............
