I think I read between the lines that the author was thinking of bringing Krish together with Maithrei 
for a short affair. 
This would have serious consequences if Meera found out (she will definitely find out), it could lead to 
another separation, maybe even divorce.

I hope that I am wrong!

Because Desai's ultimate goal could be that he then takes Meera, -divorced from Krish- as his wife, 
in order to eventually show her off to his parents, to possibly show them that he has become the 
son that they always wanted to see in Desai.

Personally, I would find this very unfortunate, because in my opinion Meera and Krish are made for 
each other and belong together.
The sexual fantasies of the two are therefore the icing on the cake and thus enrich the marriage and 
cohabitation of the two...

Hopefully the author will not go this way ...
