Varun Narang was one of the youngest CEOs in the IT industry. He was about 45 years old and clearly destined for greater things. He had joined Flaubert Systems when Sheetal was away on her sabbatical. When the 60 year old founder of Flaubert, Mr Mukesh Mehta, had stepped down, there were rumours that the company would tank. However, Varun had revitalised the company and improved on all operational metrics. They were so rapidly expanding and rising that now they were vying for clients who would normally go to the big companies like Infosys, TCS and Tech Mahindra.


Apart from being a demanding but fair boss, Varun was a charming man. He was married with two kids but was a bit of a heartthrob with the women in the company. For Sheetal, he was always the boss she reported to regarding projects. He had welcomed her to Flaubert after her sabbatical and had been accommodative with her. People coming back from a sabbatical often had to join at a lower level than they had left the company. This was done so that they get back up to speed with their work. However, when Sheetal had applied to be taken back into the fold, Varun had interviewed her and grilled her on her knowledge, responsibilities and aptitude for taking on more work. On all these fronts, she had impressed him and Varun recommended that she be taken back as Project Lead. So Sheetal was more than thankful to Varun for throwing her the lifeline which he needn't have.

As the presentation droned on, her eyes flitted to Varun's face. He was a handsome man. Fair (he was Punjabi), with a strong jawline, small brooding eyes, a chiselled nose and a mop of well groomed salt and pepper hair. He was attractive in a conventional way. So far she had never been in such close quarters with him (She would normally get a five minute slot to update Varun on her projects once in a week). But he had specifically wanted her to lead this project. Blame her horniness, but she kept switching between the screen and Varun's handsome face as the presentation progressed.

Initially, for Varun, Sheetal was just another Project Lead amongst the many in the company. But with time and during his weekly interactions with her, he realised that she was one of the brightest talents in the company. Which is why when Forever mark had come to them for a software program, Varun wanted Sheetal to lead it. Normally he would have handed over the project to a Associate Vice President but he wanted to run this one on his own. That said, truth was that Narang had a roving eye. He had used his geekiness and good looks to sleep with several women in college. He continued to have flings when he worked for Google and Facebook in California. Women were more open to a sexual encounter in the US and he had many casual encounters and one night stands by picking up women from work, from pubs and from house parties. When he finally hit 30, he decided enough was enough, sobered down, and married a long time friend of his, Radhika, who was working with him at Facebook. Radhika knew Varun's past but was convinced that he would not cheat on her. They had dated for a year and Varun had been anything but loving and faithful. They had a stable and happy marriage. Soon they had kids. Their sex life was great - Radhika made sure she worked out, stayed fit and was a tigress in bed. Varun was more than happy to settle down and leave his philandering ways behind. Until, the couple decided to return to India......
