I received the envelope and opened it. Kishore asked me to read it out loud. I read it loud and it was an offer to act in the movie full time. The contract also restricts him acting to other production houses for the next 2 years.
The contract also mentioned about acting the sequel of this movie after the first one. I started to move on to the remuneration section. I was shocked to see the remuneration/package information. It stated that he will be paid for 40 Lacs for the first film.
20 Lac will be paid as advance and remaining 20 Lac will be after movie releases. The offer mentioned the salary for the sequel part will be decided based on the market. Vivek and I were stunned with the contract details. We couldn’t believe that he had grabbed such a lucrative offer.
Vivek’s face was full of happiness and we congratulated him wholeheartedly. Vivek hugged Kishore and appreciated him for his success. Kishore took another envelope from his pocket and extended it to me. I took it and without further waiting, he fell on my feet asking me to bless him.
I touched his shoulder and pulled him up and said “Kishore, my blessing will be always there for you da. No formalities, da.” Vivek was totally stunned with Kishore’s respect for me. I asked Kishore. “What is this envelop da?” Kishore said, “Anni open and see it.”
I opened it and pulled it out and it was a demand draft for 20 Lac. I was very happy to see it. I gave it to Vivek and Vivek saw the draft happily. Kishore was extremely happy to share this news with us. He said “Anni, my shooting starts in 3 weeks. Most of the film will be shot in Chennai and few parts will be shot in Singapore.”
I and Vivek were in cloud 9.
Kishore left home for dance practice class. Vivek and I were happy discussing Kishore’s movie offer.
At one point Vivek felt very guilty and said, “Pooja, you are the only person who really appreciated and understood his talent and stood by him.”
“If you have not intervened I would have crushed his dreams violently. I made a serious mistake of not recognizing his passion and talent. When he mentioned that he wanted to give the draft and offer letter to you to take your blessing, he was right and you deserve it.”
I calmed Vivek. “No Vivek, you took the right decision at that time. Please don’t unnecessarily feel about it. Kishore has great respect for you. He clearly knows that your decision is for his best interest. So never feel that he will consider you bad. He said everything in a funny note. But his respect for you is always high.”
More than me, Vivek was happy with the movie offers. Vivek started dreaming of being a brother of a mass hero. He started imagining and discussing giving interviews as the brother of the hero and talking in film promotions, etc. It was so funny and interesting to see Vivek’s dream of being the brother of a hero.
