“See maa, things haven’t been great between us for the last few weeks”
“Hmm. Do you think so.”

“See Sandeep, while you might disagree with the choice I have made, I am your mom. That doesn’t change and I understand why you felt that way. So may be the mistake is on my part too. I should have been a bit slower and nicer in the entire thing. I am sorry dearest son>”
“Ok so you are clear about your choice right?”
“How does it matter, why should I make choices that leave my only child unhappy.”
“No please answer this to me. You are happy about your choice right?”
“If you ask me like that, well yes I am happy but…”
“Maa, wait. First answer my questions.”
“You are ok with all the changes that you will have to make as a result of this”
There was no reply just a nod from his mom, but Sandeep noted it.
“Ok Mom, in that case, I will not object. I do have objections but I think if you really want this to happen, then I will stand with you.”
On hearing her son’s words, Sandeep’s mom came and gave him a big hug.
“Thank you so much. You are an amazing son”
The eagerness with which she hugged him was very different from the quiet manner in which she nodded a few moments earlier. She held on to him for a bit and showered him with kisses.
“Thank you, you really mean it right?”
“Yes I do.”
“So you will be there with me?”
“Meaning?”
“Ah well, I cant move through all this alone, son. I know this is a little awkward. Your mom marrying again and you helping things happen.”
“Ah ok, only if you insist.”
“Please beta, it would mean the world to me. I would otherwise always be left in doubt whether you really wished me to go ahead.”
“Ok, Ok. Done. But…”
“But what?”
“You will have to inform Vijay who you are. I won’t do that. It won’t work well that way.”
“Oh okay….anything else.”
“Nothing else maa, I have some work so will be back only in the evening, otherwise all good. Let me know how to take this forward and we will do it as per your wishes.”

Sandeep got up it seems a satisfactory outcome. Not his first preference but no fights. In his mind he still said in a soft voice, no not our wishes. He walked out of the door and was gone soon.
Sandeep’s mom quickly picked her phone and called her sister.
“Oh my God finally it worked”
“What? Did he agree?”
“Yes dear he did. Thank you so much for your support”
“You are sure of this man and happy right?”
“100 percent!”
“That’s all I want. Now go ahead and smile and be happy as you are going to be a bride soon.”
Hearing those words Sandeep’s mom giggled.
“Common stop teasing me”
“Arrey what teasing. It’s the fact and we are all happy for you. Bride to be. Wonder how it will be according to their customs.”
“I don’t know too”
“But I am sure there will be a nice wedding followed by “
Both giggled as if they were two teenagers who had first discovered the reality of attraction and sex.
Once her call with her sister was over, Sandeep’s mom called Vijay and asked him to come to her flat and meet her as soon as he could. She then went and dressed up a bit applying mild lipstick and tied her hair well, even though she knew that it would all be undone by Vijay very soon.
“Hmm. Do you think so.”
“Well don’t you feel so?”
