Chapter 38 - Charming Sam? Not so fast! {Season 2 Episode 8, Time: past}

Rana elaborately planned how to charm Sam when Chai was away at work.
But Sam was not going to be an easy fish to catch.
As soon as Chai left for office, Sam went into her bedroom and did not come out until a little before lunch time.
Sam quickly prepared food for Rana and served him a tasty lunch.
Rana tried initiating a small talk but Sam just replied to the point and stayed calm.
Again, took her lunch plate to her room and ate her lunch there.
Rana knew he had to grab a chance with her.
While she came to kitchen to tidy up, Rana went up to her.
 
“Samantha you seem preoccupied” Rana started a chat.
“Yes, Rana Pratap. I don’t feel so good. I need to rest. Sorry I am not able to give you company.
Please watch TV and engage yourself. Let me know if you want anything” She curtly replied.
After what happened in morning Samantha didn’t want to be caught off guard with Rana.

As she was leaving to her room, Rana stopped her.
 
Rana: Sam I need to talk to you
Sam: Please Rana Pratap. We can talk when Chai is here. I need to go.
(she was beginning to get a little uncomfortable. Images from morning were coming back)
Rana: (assertively with authority) Sam, sit down. This is important. I need to speak in private

Strangely, the moment Rana applied some authority and showed Bull behavior,
Sam’s mind went into obedient mode. She sat down in sofa.
Rana was standing and gazing at her silently.

Sam: Tell me Rana Pratap (in a slightly meek voice)
Rana: (again, in an assertive manner) Sam, you know I have 10 years of experience in handling clients with relationship issues.
I have all sorts of clients coming to me. Couples. Girl-friend / Boy-friend. Lesbians. Gays. Even clients with multiple partner relationship.
 
Again, Rana pauses for effect.
Sam was feeling very weird as to why this Doctor started the session without her hubby.
She was a little cowed by Rana’s new assertive behaviour.

Sam silently & seriously listening to Rana

 
Rana: (continues) Now. I do not judge my clients. I give them equal treatment and excellent results. That’s why I am so famous in London.
The reason I wished to talk to you in private is to tell you this: my counselling style and my treatment methods are very unconventional.
I penetrate deep into my clients (a deliberate double entendre) and give them full satisfaction.
Depending on the problems, sometimes I get into role playing and other techniques to resolve the issues that some Indians may be unready to handle.
But, just remember one thing: you can trust me and everything I do is so my clients have a happy issue free relation back again.

So, in the evening, when I do certain things and make you do certain things, you both have to go along and place your complete trust in me.

He emphasized the last part with an almost aggressive tone.
Samantha was not ready to tell him not to call her Sam this time.
She just shook her head.
Good, now you can go, Sam!
Rana was rubbing off the fact that he will call her however he wishes to call her.

Rana (to himself): Rao Bahadur! You asshole! You dared to slap me! You son of a bitch!
You grand daughter in law is soon going to be my slave. (And he laughed aloud almost villainously)

Samantha rushed into her room. Her breathe was heavy. She lay on her bed thinking.


She is a little afraid of the bit of an aggressive manger in which Rana just behaved with her.
But at the same time, in the very corner of her heart, she was receptive to his authority.
At this stage, she is not conscious of this fact.

In fact, Rana’s personality type analysis (PTA) assessment of Sam was spot on. Samantha was a hybrid type!

She respond to authority and domination by taking a submissive role.
And in the presence of a submissive person she would convert to be a dominating figure.

Although, she is currently not expressing either of these roles strongly,
the transition to future Samantha would be one where she starts performing these dual roles:
1. She will display submissive personality to domination figures
2. She will show dominating personality to submissive/meek types.

The evening came and Chai came in the very nick of time.
Chai did not sit with Sam to have a meaningful conversation before the session…
Again, a very BIG mistake… Chutiya Chai… really…

It was going to be a very long night for all of them...
More so for Samantha & Rana, than Chai...
