"Agh, I just don't understand it Cal, it's too confusing!"
I screamed into my hands. My temper was the only thing that was stopping the stinging tears from falling from my eyes. I was frustrated, the test was tomorrow and I was no where near close to understanding most of the equations. Cal grinned that same grin each time I got into one of my moods, and straitened the papers in front of him.
"Lisa, don't stress, once you grasp this one the rest will fall into place."
He nodded calmly, holding my hand in some semblance of comfort. Usually just his touch would send happy shivers down my body and kill my anger but it wasn't working this time. I pulled away from his touch and screwed up the paper with the horrid questions on it and threw it to the corner of the room.
"Obviously I can't grasp it Cal, I've been stuck in your stuffy room for five hours and I have to get this all before tomorrow or I will fail the class. This is serious."
The doom in my own words made me want to cry even more but something in the strange expression of my boyfriend stopped me. It was a look of mischief... and anticipation.
"Do you want to learn this?"
He asked, his tone serious but a light twitch at the corner of his mouth hinted at a smile. I frowned at his new tone and nodded slowly in reply.
"Will you do anything to learn it, no matter how strange or... extreme."
That twitching smile broke forth at the last word. I frowned deeper and nodded once again, this time more energetic. He had an idea? I waited as his eyes blazed towards me and he stood up.
"Well then the only thing that's missing is drive."
I narrowed my eyes at him, my anger stroked.
"I have plenty of drive Cal, I have-"
he cut me off before I could finish my scathing remark.
"You need something to push you."
I breathed hard to calm myself and listened to what he had to say.
"Your virginity."
He grinned. My mouth opened but no sound came out and I closed it again. I was speechless by the unexpectedness of his words. He continued on, taking my silence as means to continue.
"You will fight for your virginity. I will write things... on a few pieces of paper and put them in a hat. Each question you get wrong you will pull something out of the hat, and whatever is written on that piece of paper, you will do, or..."
He grinned wider, "or I will do to you."
It took me a full minute before I was able to answer, but during that minute there was a lot of head shaking and heavy blinking. Not the prettiest sight.
"No! What is wrong with you Cal, I can't, you know I'm not ready... I..."
My spluttering came to an unproductive end and my face by that time had turned a deep shade of scarlet. Cal smiled one of his deep warm smiles that I knew so well and took both my shaking hands in his large comforting ones.
"It's ok Lisa, it was just a funny idea, but if you don't want to then that's ok, I won't force you."
His words made my heart jump a little but I couldn't help but glance the small flash of disappointment that left his face as quick as it appeared, replaced by the warm smile that had always made my legs shake. He frowned at me when I didn't answer him back, worry colouring his easy grin. I was thinking. Hard. We had been dating for five months through high college, and he had waited for me to feel ready before we even attempted anything. I had turned 18 two weeks ago and still the fear of losing my innocence kept me physically apart from him. Was I ready? No. But that would help to push me and force me to get this right. But what other things was he talking about? The thought of it filled me with fear... And something else... anticipation? I shook my head of the thought. Cal was still looking at me worriedly. He was about to talk but I did before he had the chance.
"Ok."
