No one is abusing. Author continuing a great story and has posted few parts and then went silent. Then updated that an update coming last week but none came.
All we ask is, we like it when author keeps clear expectation on when next part is posted. We don't have to wait and ask everytime.
It can be 1 week, 1 month whatever. This 1 line is sufficient. Author is logging into xossipy now and then. Instead of writing "update coming this week" he could have written, update in 1-2 weeks even....
We are against abuse here. And we wait for author to post as per his timing.
