For me this story elaborates on a situation all too common in our society. I read in another thread that "everything" is going on in our society under a thin veneer of so called decency and morality. Ultimately, people have to make choices to survive as best as they can, regardless of "societal standards".
About evolving and not tied to a place or person....agree but not about being tied to a person. For example, would we have any family life if we were so easy about changing partners because we feel like it, because we don't want to work at keeping our relationships? Relationships and particularly stable relationships are a basic aspect of life. People are attracted to each other to fornicate, recreate but also to be together. Regardless of what the "underground" society is doing, we still hold family values and try to avoid our children being exposed to that. Well, we try but life is not so rosy for many of us.
