It was now Roma's birthday. A Birthday party was organized under Jindal's instructions and all the employees had a great time eating the birthday cake,making merry and taking part in the celebrations. Jindal gave Roma a bouquet of roses on her birthday and she was over the moon in happiness with the grand way her birthday was being celebrated in the office. Roma was grateful in her heart to Jindal for making her feel so special and making her birthday feel so great,especially as this was her first birthday since divorcing Amar. After the birthday party in the office, Jindal took Roma on a long drive in his car all over the city, celebrated with her by having champagne with her. The he dropped her at her apartment.
After about a month, Mr.Jindal announced that JINDAL CORP. was getting into a business venture with a Top Company of Philippines and for that a big group of the company along with him would be going to Philippines for a four day visit. The visit included two days stay in Manila,the capital of Philippines where the business deal would be signed at the Philippines based company's head office after a business meeting there and then two days pleasure stay in an island in the south of the Philippines. Several members of ther HR team,Marketing team and PR team were to be a part of this group and Roma was also a part of this group with her rising profile in the company as a PRO.
The day was here now...The group had reached the airport and checked in and now took their seats in the aeroplane. Roma got a window seat and Mr. Jindal sat beside her. They started talking with each other as the aeroplane took off. Jindal was telling her about Philippines and she was listening to him carefully. Roma said," You know much about the Philippines ? It is one of the Southeast Asian countries,right ?"
Jindal said," Yeah. Seven thousand plus islands. Couple of main ones though. Manila is the capital of the Philippines. I have been to Philippines few times before." After staying in Manila for two days, we are going to an island in the south of the Philippines,its name is Palawan. It is often considered to be one of the most beautiful islands in the world." Around Palawan there are tiny,exclusive,privately owned islands and several resorts . Roma listened intently to everything that Jindal was saying.
Then Roma said," Jag may I ask you something...I hope you don't mind it."
Jindal said," No problem...what is it...ask freely."
Roma said," Jag you are such a wonderful man,a thorough gentleman...how come you don't have a woman in your life...a wife...a steady girl friend."
Jindal smiled and said." I am 54 now...its not like I never had a woman in my life... I studied in a good college in Delhi,then went to college, I went to USA and did my MBA from Harvard...there I met Samantha, an American girl who was my classmate, we became friends,fell in love and decided to get married. My family back home in India did not approve of my decision especially as I was the elder son,the eldest child of my parents...but I went against their wishes and married Samantha and we lived together in USA.
I worked in a big company in USA. I had a son with Samantha. But then things started to get bad...we started having compatibility issues and we got divorced after 11 years of marriage. Samantha then got remarried and her second husband accepted our son as his son and he was a good man. Then I returned to India. I stayed in touch with Samantha aur son for a few years but now I have not been in touch with them for several years. It was not that I did not think about getting married again, and I dated some women but did not eventually marry them and now for the last ten years or so, I have not dated any woman. I am totally single...but ready to mingle. Just joking."
Roma also smiled hearing the last line from Jindal.
Roma and Jindal's conversation was interrupted by the captain's announcement about the flight about to land soon at Manila airport. The flight landed with a gentle thud. At the airport, the Philippines company had sent a big car to pick Jindal and his employees and take them to the five star hotel where they were to stay. After reaching the hotel, all the members in the group checked into their rooms,freshened up and then assembled at the hotel reception and ventured out to roam around the city. They saw a few places of interest,did some shopping and then returned back to the hotel.The group members had their dinner and went off to their respective rooms to sleep.
The next day, the group of JINDAL CORP. led by Mr. Jindal had a business meeting at the office of this top company of Philippines, went through the details of the business venture and then signed the deal. The Philippines company had arrange a lunch party for the delegation of JINDAL CORP.. After the lunch party, the JINDAL CORP. group were taken back to the five star hotel. They freshened up,packed their bags and then went to Manila Airport to take a short flight to Palawan.
