I figured I should keep the box with me, so I carried it as I made the return trip to my car. Considering the couple was in front of me on the trail, I took my time going back, as I would have a hard time explaining how I got on the trail without them noticing. Eventually, I did make it to the end, and taking a precautionary look to make sure their car was gone, I got back into mine. By that time the sun was just about to set, and my lower body was burning with fatigue. This was however forgotten, as I remembered Sage would be waiting for me at my house. I took all my reserve to keep from peeling out of the lot.
