During early stage of WW2, German scientists are way ahead of Americans in Nuclear research and the uses of radium and Nuclear fission. 
Albert Einstein got to know about this and also about Germans involving in creating a mass destructive Atomic weapon. 

So, He wrote two letters to USA president Roosevelt, stating about the above situation and conveyed him the need of urge to initiate Nuclear research and also he conveyed the president that, He can able to create a weapon using radioactive elements, Thus he created the spark for Manhattan Project. As a result, Hiroshima and Nagasaki destroyed.
