The Baratis (the people who accompany the bridegroom) along with this, firecrackers were also burst, in frequent succession, adding to the festivities and announcing the arrival of groom. When the procession reached the bride's house, the bride's family (Viswanath, leela, Amit, sonali, Debashree and Aditya) came forward to welcome the procession with Tilak, garlands, flowers and a token gif of money. With 'Aarti' (***** religious ritual).
They were welcomed and taken inside the wedding tent. Two thrones like chairs were placed on a raised platform. All the family friends, relative audience seated in front in chairs. The bridegroom was escorted to the throne. The bride followed in glittering red silk saree, escorted by her friends. Usha was then brought forward, surrounded by her friends and relatives for exchanging garlands with the groom. After this, the bride and the groom seated on a raised platform, on throne like chairs.
All the guests then came, turn wise to give their good wishes and wedding gifts.
Then the great dinner was served to everybody. There were 50 food items and beverages. All the guests were very much pleased to have sumptuous and delicious foods. The preparation of the food was prepared in the best possible manner, in order to please the entire guest.
The dinner commenced with appetizers, which were served before the main meal was served. The appetizers were usually both vegetarian and non vegetarian to carter the need of guest. Drinks were also served. There were even separate counters or stalls for beverages. The drinks which were served comprised of soft drinks, cocktails, wine, whiskey, etc.
This was followed by the main course meal. The main course meal usually contained four to five vegetable dishes, different types of daals, pulao and breads. This was complimented with various salads and other condiments. The main course meal comprised of both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. The meal was the heaviest and grandest of all.
After the primary meal was over, the guests were treated with desserts. Desserts were sweet items, which were served to ease the spicy and tingling taste of the meal. The sweet section comprised of all traditional items of sweet.
After dinner was over, the bridegroom, Usha was taken to the marriage mandap.
In the midnight, the sacred ceremony of marriage started. The marriage was solemnized in presence of a large number of people and before 'Agni' (Fire). Both the bride and bride groom went around the fire seven times amidst chanting of mantras by the priests, and their hands were tied in sacred manner as husband and wife in the presence of guests who were the witnesses of this union. When the religious ceremony was over, the bride and the groom were pronounced as husband and wife.
