Chapter 31

12.15 at noon we landed in the lobby of Sunshine Gardens. We mean, I and Meera. Mr Das welcomed us there.
"You look stunning, Meera."
He said grabbing her hands.
She did. She was dressed in a white dress that complemented her beauty.
He thanked me for being there for him as he led us to the hall. We had a light lunch. I was feeling tense because I had no idea on his plans for the day. Meera was visibly at ease; she was smiling at him as they talked.
Perhaps she was hiding her anxiety. Perhaps she wasn't tensed because I was there with her; a safety net - like Das had mentioned. Perhaps she wasn't tensed at all, for she knew whatever his plans were.
I felt I was the only one who didn't have a clue about anything.
What's happening? What's going to happen?

Das' casual talk was mostly directed to Meera. I felt nothing bad about that because she was the guest. I was just...
Well, I don't know.

Das talked about the hotel and its luxurious features. It was one of his favourite hotels.
"It took me just a visit here, that it instantly became my favourite. I hope you like it."
He said.
"The food is definitely good." Meera commented with a glowing smile on her face. I struggled hard to keep my eyes off her face. This was the first time after like an year, when I managed to sit so close to her, watching her smile. I was mesmerized by her pleasing smile and scintillating aroma. I was still in love with her.
Will she ever come back? I wondered.
"See, for me too it started with the food. Next time we'll have a complete dinner here. I will walk you through the rooftop garden also. It's wonderful to walk there and watch the sky in the night. You won't realize you're in the middle of a crowded city."
Das said.
"Wow." Meera smiled again.

Her smile was enough to trap me in another dream. I daydreamed walking her thorough that unseen rooftop garden. We would watch the sky in the night. I would hold her hand and bring it to my lips. I thought.

"So what we are we gonna do now?"
She asked as we finished the food.
"Of course, the suite. You can't miss that."
He said.

He was right. He had one grand suite ready for us. I wondered if he's paying for the whole day or just for the time we were there. I knew it would cost a big sum. Could it all be for nothing?
When we entered it, I realized it was nothing like I've ever seen or imagined.
The suite was quite luxurious, even beyond my imagination. There was a living room that was decorated with elegance, two large bedrooms, a library and a mini bar in it. Comfortable couches, easy chairs, velvet floors and it all had lavishness painted on them. Elegant and expensive, it screamed luxury by every inch of its space. From the floor to the roof, it had its class written over it.

"It feels like Mr Menon has won your trust quite easily, Meera. You seem to trust him than I thought I did."
Mr Das mentioned to Meera.
"True." Meera smiled.
"Since he's our mutual friend, we can feel absolutely free around him."
"You seem to have something in your mind.."
She said.
I brought my attention to the mini bar to fend off the awkwardness of watching them mingle through flattery.
Of all the luxury, the mini bar had caught my attention the most. Das might have noticed it.
"Feel free to check it out, my friend. You'll find your favourite JD over there."
He said.
I was unsure if it was appropriate to open JD right then. It was odd.
"What will you have Meera?" He turned to Meera.
"Nothing, thanks." She said.
"Oh come on, drop the formality, my dear."
He said and pulled her by her hand. He quickly had her in his embrace. She was as surprised as I was, but made no attempt to move away from him. I saw her breasts rubbing against his chest. I wanted to pull them apart. He looked into her eyes and locked them too.
"Before speaking of anything else, tell me what have you done with my gift?"
He was referring to the necklace.
"Oh, it's with me, Mr Das. I had forgotten to return it to her. And we couldn't really see each other..."
I interrupted quickly as if I didn't want Meera to take the blame. I pulled the small box from my pocket and gave it to him.
"That's really a great gesture of trust between you guys. You both have managed to outdo even my expectations, to be honest. Well, it's really good, Mr Menon. Here I can present the same thing to my lady once again. This time we can do it without hiding our excitement, can't we?."
He noted and tied it around her neck without any hurry. He had all the time in the world to tie his diamond necklace around my wife's neck right in my presence.
I felt a pang of jealousy watching him with that luxury. Her compliance with him only added fuel to the fire that had started in my mind. She was surely enjoying his company. My presence didn't bother her at all.
Maybe she was just pretending that way. I hoped.
"Wow. Gorgeous."
Das looked at her with his dilated eyes.

"You're beautiful than ever, believe me, honey."
She surely did, I saw. She was looking absolutely gorgeous. She just checked it with her hands and smiled at him.
"Thank you, Das."
"I should be thankful to have you with me, Meera."
He was showering her with compliments and she kept her gorgeous eyes and pleasant smile on him only. Her eyes were shining and she was clearly into him. Even I could see that, ten feet away from her. There was no chance Mr. Das could miss it.
Is she ready?
Mr Das moved forward and kissed her. A quick and short one, on her lips.
I felt sick to my stomach.
"Now we should have a drink, shouldn't we?"
He asked.
"Sure."
He turned to me.
"Mr Menon, will you please pour us some drinks? Something very light for her. for me, you know what I like, don't you?"
"Sure, I know."
I said immediately. I felt awkward for being directed by him to prepare drinks for them. Nevertheless I turned to the bar. I opened the cooler and saw some cordial. I didn't mind the flavor, I just poured it into a glass and added water. That was for Meera. For Das I took the same JD.
"Come on let's leave him here for now. I have a lot to listen to you."
Das' voice suddenly turned my attention back to them.
"You start the party, friend. We're just coming."
He said to me.
Meera looked at me at that moment, and I saw her eyes. She looked every bit of a woman who knew what she wanted. And now, in his arms, she had chosen him. I felt sick to my stomach. I watched as her eyes bid goodbye to me one last time and went back to him.
Mr. Das had his his arm around her. He was leading her to the bedroom. She walked with him showing no hesitation. My head was spinning. I stood there, unable to move, without knowing what to do or say.
The situation had left me completely off-guard.
Das had just walked my wife into a bedroom that was supposedly his. I had seen that room a few moments ago. It had a king-size bed in the middle of it. I thought of that bed, it's extra softness, and the picture dreaded me. My heartbeats shot up. My throat became dry. My eyes couldn't follow them past the door, for it was shut as soon as they walked in. The sound of that door closing made me hard to breathe. There was nothing to hear from that room since then.
Is it happening again?
Is the nightmare coming back to reality?

No, it isn't. Meera won't do anything silly like that. She's strong. I told myself.
Especially when I'm standing here. They must be having a chat. A private chat. They haven't bolted the door from inside. That means they know they're in check. I thought.
My thoughts were forcefully constructed by me. I had never been such an optimist, but suddenly I tried to become one. I expected them to be walking out soon, asking for their drinks.
I got back to work and prepared his drink. Then, like Mr. Das had asked, I grabbed my drink and finished it in one go. I had started the party for me. It went past my dry throat and I felt no relief. I poured another and came back to the living room.
As I sat on the couch, my eyes again fell on the bedroom door. It was now impossible to look away. I had become restless. My drink was finished in anxiety. I tried doing long, deep breaths but nothing helped.

This wasn't like anything I knew of me. I couldn't come to terms with the fact that my wife was there with another man, for whatever reason.

In the past I had seen giving in to another man; I had seen her letting a stranger have his way inside her on a park bench. I had seen her taking a old man's dick in her mouth, letting him fuck her after that; I had seen her riding him on our marital bed; I had seen it all. But still I couldn't live this moment. Behind that door, she was undeniably vulnerable; she could be taken to bed and...

This was different. Because she wasn't mine anymore. In the past, at the end of the day she would return to me. She used to come back to live my wife. Not now, for she wasn't mine. She wouldn't come back to me after this. I was losing her forever.
Forever. That word dreaded me.
Was that the moment she announced it loud and clear for me? Was that the way to end it?
Maybe it was. The man behind that door owned her. I was not her husband anymore. I cannot dream of her from now. To dream of her, to love her, would be so wrong.

Only thing I could do was to stare at the closed door.

I remembered all those moments in my life when I had been failed by closed doors. I had been made to stand still in front of doors my life had set up for me. There had been few.
First I was made to stand and watch in front of my own house when Mr Thomas tried to have a date with my wife after a party. I could do nothing to save my wife other than just pray, though she courageously had defended herself that night.

Then, when I had locked myself accidentally in my own kitchen, I was made to face those dreaded moments again. That day my wife was introduced to another man's lust, quicker than I could imagine. It had then changed our lives forever.

Then, in front of my own bedroom, I had made myself stand when Mr Shekhar had taken my wife to my bed. She was not only taken but conquered by him. At the other side of that door was a bed where my beautiful wife lay, being subjected to another man's thirst and hunger.

Mr Shekhar was no more. But it was happening again.
At the other side of that door was now my wife and her lover. She had acknowledged his love for her a few moments ago. From the beginning of their friendship I had been following them. I knew every twist and turn of their story. I had been a part of it.
And there I was. Staring at a closed door.

Do I really remain a part of their story?
I wondered as I looked at that door. I had heard a giggle from her. Only once. Nothing escaped that room since then. I waited silently, ready to catch any sound that might escape that room.
I heard many known as well as unknown, unidentifiable sounds from the outside world. I could hear my wristwatch ticking. I could hear the tiny sound from one of the decorative lights from the roof. I could hear my own heartbeats. Yet nothing from that room.
What could be them doing? I thought.

Are they sitting at the edge of the bed looking into each other's eyes?
"I want to keep looking into your beautiful eyes.." Mr Das had said.
Is she telling him stories?
"I want to keep listening to your voice.." he had told her.
Is he just holding her hand in his to make her feel comfortable?
"I want to hold your hand and make you feel safe.." he had told her.
Are they sharing a silent kiss? Like a newly married- a passionate, slow and delicate kiss?
"I wanted to kiss her whenever I saw her in my office.." He had told me.

There were many in his wish list.
"I would slurp her tight pussy like a dog!" He had told me. A few months ago.

I couldn't sit there idle sipping my glass anymore. My JD had turned sour.

The large clock on the wall was ticking past 2 O'clock. That meant more than half an hour since I had seen them walking into that room.
The large suite, with its air conditioning system and strong walls, doors and windows, made sure no sounds passed either in or out of it. I had finished my fourth round while surviving my nightmarish thoughts. Then, after filling up my fifth round of JD, I decided it's time I better gathered some courage and walked up to the door of that bedroom.

I rose to my feet and slowly walked toward it. Fear of making unwanted noise and ending up caught spying them helped me follow extreme care while approaching it.

I couldn't hear any noise from inside, until I put my ears really close to the door, almost touching it. Then I heard some sounds. They weren't the sounds of talking. Nevertheless, I could easily make out what was happening because it was what I was imagining unconsciously.

There was the whirring sound of the bed, shaking in some sort of rhythm, and slight moans of a woman. All the sounds were in sync, suggesting a perfect picture of the scene. He was fucking her.

My heart stopped as I stood thunderstruck. It wasn't because of the sounds I was hearing but because of the sense of loss which had completely gripped me.
I leaned my back on the wall beside the door to balance myself. I felt the sounds from the room were increasing. Either he was taking her to higher levels of love with his pace and vigour, or I was getting too much involved in their chaos.
Then I heard a cry that was perfectly audible outside.
"Aaahh!" a suppressed one, from Meera. I closed my eyes in disgust and next I heard a groan from Mr Das.
I couldn't stand there anymore.

That was the sound of Das ejaculating into the deepest part of my wife's body. From that groan, I could guess he had great fun cumming into her.
It's over Krish. Go back. Go back to your pathetic life. I heard myself telling me.
When I walked back, I felt like wobbling. I almost fell on the couch.
I shook my head in disgust and then grabbed my drink. I didn't dare to look at the door anymore. The sound of my wife accepting the seeds of her man simply drained all the colours of my life. She would never recognize me. My energy to stay awake and alive had vanished. I thought I would end my life after this day.
