It was foolishness, I was thinking. I asked him,

 

“Where do you work?”

 

Laxman:”I work in a catering firm.You know that.”

 

I :”I meant where's your office?”

 

 

Laxman: “I have nothing to do with office,man. I work there as a waiter. They call me whenever they need to go for catering and serving. I have to go to a wedding party tonight.”

 

He then threw the remaining cigarette in the dustbin and started talking like he was speaking to himself,

 

“I will work till midnight and they will give me two notes of 100 rupees. God is very unfair ,man. People like you do fucking nothing and still can enjoy life.”

 

I was wondering whether he was cursing me or his poverty.He again opened his mouth like he was high on cigarette,

 

“I must earn money and I will earn money. I hate when my mother has to clean the houses of people like you.”

 

His voice became different and I could see his eyes were teary. I said,

 

“Hey, calm down ,man”

 

His facial expressions changed like he had remembered something. He sat straight and asked me,

 

“Hey, do you remember I asked you to give me 25000 rupees?”

 

I said ,

 

“Yes, in fact I have arranged the money.”

 

His face lit up. He said ,

 

“That's great,man. Now give me that money. I will return it with your share of profits.”
