From the development of the narrative, it is clear that both Prabu and Meera,
'although both are now married and have children of their own',
have an untamed desire for physical satisfaction.
My conclusion is that Prabu should tell Meera that his father knows about their relationship.
Following this, both should develop a plan for Meera to seduce Prabu's father,
so that he can look his father in the eye again without having pangs of conscience.
(But that presupposes that Prabu's father will get well!)
A second aspect is that Meera must not find out that Saravans know about her unfaithfulness !
Otherwise, 'like all other readers' I let myself be surprised by the narrator ...
