4 Key Differences Between REBT & CBT Psychotherapy

REBT works from a philosophical basis of emotional disturbance as well as the clients cognitive distortions (which is the focus of CBT) which many claim makes it more powerful.

REBT places an emphasis on secondary disturbances - where we disturb ourselves about our issues - which is something that CBT largely ignores.

REBT presents Unconditional Self Acceptance as a resolution to low self-esteem instead of just focussing on reinforcing positive qualities which is the CBT approach.

REBT is unique among CBT approaches in the fact that it recognises Helpful Negative Emotions alongside Unhealthy Negative Emotions. Other CBT approaches focus on Unhealthy Negative Emotions only.

This allows me to get 60fps in the game, however, even at 30fps the game runs fine.

Do you want to create a professional looking horror survival game in Unity? Well you've found the right course. This is aimed at anybody who loves game design and wants to make awesome games.

My name is Pete Jepson and I have taught game design for over 5 years. In this series we will be making a game where your first person character has to try and survive against a gang of maniacs, armed with a variety of weapons

You don't need previous experience as I will be guiding you through the course step by step, showing you how to make the game and to write the code using C#. I will be giving you interesting assignments throughout to build your experience and knowledge in game design.

You will need a powerful computer to complete this project, so please ensure your computer meets the minimum specifications as displayed on the course home page.

So, what's in the course?

we start by creating the visuals to establish a night time look for the game. Then we will equip the player with a flashlight and a nightvision camera.

Then we will move onto lighting the scene to create an interesting aesthetic quality. We will add fog for atmosphere to give it a professional quality look

The enviornment map and props are free to download and you can use them in any game you decide to create.

We will Add sounds and music to bring the scene to life.

Then we will import enemy characters and add walking, running and attack animations using the mecanim animator window in Unity to seamlessly blend between a wide range of motions.

We will work on navigation path finding and artifical intelligence, allowing the enemy characters to make their own decisions on where to go and what to do. Once the enemies detect you, they will discover their own different ways to hunt you down!

Then we will work on a player inventory menu, displaying which weapons you have picked up. Each weapon has a different strength, speed and noise.

Then we will move on to the stealth mechanics, allowing the player to attempt to sneak around the map unnoticed. But the enemies are clever and once they spot you they will go into pursuit mode.

This brings us to the combat system, where the enemy will attack you and you can attack them. You will need to choose the right weapon to try and kill the enemies, because they are fast and very strong. If you try and stand and exchange strikes with them you won't last very long, so strategy is the key to defeating the enemies.

We will also be adding a save system so players can save and load their progress between sessions.

We finally work on a main menu and in game options such as changing lighting, volume and switching on or off antialiasing and fog, as well as difficulty settings.

By the end of this course you will have a completed horror survival game which you can export out as a finished product. You will have developed the skills, confidence and understanding of how to make your own games in Unity.

Gyges' Ring. Plato tells of Gyges, a man who found a ring that could make him invisible. With help from this newfound power, he seduced the king's wife, killed the king, and took over the entire kingdom. If we had a mechanism for escaping punishment, would we honestly live a just life, or one that took us to the dark side?
Zen Parable of the Two Brothers. Two brothers were shopping when they noticed an aging woman who needed help. The older brother carried her and her bags to her car. The younger brother was upset the woman hadn't said, "Thank you," and he brought that up again and again later in the day. The older brother responded, "Little brother, I set that woman down hours ago. Why are you still carrying her?" Why do we have a craving for things to go a particular way and allow ourselves to be distraught when they don't?
A Mother's Grief. In a famous Buddhist story, a woman loses her baby and becomes overcome with grief, looking for medicine that could bring him back to life. The Buddha says he will help if she can find a pinch of mustard seed from a household untouched by the suffering of death. She finds the spice easily enough, but every household shares a story about a loved one lost. Is it possible that grief, one of our darkest emotions, is valuable to us, as we learn positive lessons about life and the need for community?
The Luck of the Two Partygoers. Two people attend a party, drink beyond the point of legal intoxication, get in their separate cars to drive home, lose control of their cars, and swerve onto the sidewalk. In one case, a man standing on that sidewalk is killed. In the other, the sidewalk was empty. Both partygoers broke the law by driving while intoxicated. Should we judge them the same, or differently? How can we take responsibility for our actions, but recognize the role that luck plays in our lives?
These memorable thought experiments and stories, along with many others, will help you wrestle with big ideas and dark questions by grounding them in everyday experience and making them vividly real.

Websockets are one of the coolest things to hit the web in ages. They allow the browser real-time communication bridging one of the last gaps in both human and web-based communication. Socket io is the king library that uses websockets under the hood. There's a good chance if you're reading this, you've heard about socket io. Maybe even done a tutorial on it. But how far did you get? In my experience, the vast majority of the material on the web goes no farther than a quick-start, instant chat app. You don't learn how anything works, never look at the docs, and are stuck at the end wondering what to do now. The remaining shred of material is waaaaay over everyone's head. The fact that the websocket API was standardized in 2011 and most developers still don't know how to use it is evidence of the gap.

This course is meant to alleviate that! It is not a quick start guide to socket.IO. There are loads of those all over the Internet. You should definitely look elsewhere if you are wanting a 10 minute intro to the 3-4 things you need to know to make something quick. On the other hand, if you are looking to really learn one of the most awesome JavaScript libraries in socket io, you should stick around. Like Express and other JavaScript/Node pieces, it's getting passed over in the wave to learn just enough to get to the term "full-stack developer." My main goal is to help you figure out how to go from being a good developer to a great developer. Understanding. not just knowing a few methods. of socketio is part of that! It even trancends the browser and node with implementations in most other languages, and even mobile. This means as you grow, you have the power of sockets without having to learn more than the socket io library.

I first used socket.IO in 2013 for a tiny company directory app. I've been following since and have been frustrated that it hasn't gotten more mainstream notice because it opens the way for so many improvements to existing applications and obvious groundwork for new ones. Let's change that :) Prepare to for a detailed look at socketio and websockets and start going real-time.
