Chapter 164: Beauty of 4 States

# Scene 1

Rao’s call came at four.

“An informal reception, sir. Cultural exchange. Rising talent from all four states.”

Selvam pressed the phone to his ear. The Secretariat’s ceiling fan turned slow overhead.

“Purpose?” he said.

“Goodwill. The union’s creative industries need cohesion. Young voices. Fresh perspective.” Rao’s voice was smooth. Warm. The particular cadence of a man who had been placing ideas in rooms for thirty years. “Nothing formal. Private guesthouse. Secure.”

“The location.”

“Eleven kilometers south. Government property. Discreet.”

Selvam looked at his desk. The evening was empty. Yazhini at home in Adyar. Vanitha in Los Gatos with the boutique’s peak orders. Summer running the constellation deployment from the Nakamura penthouse.

“Seven-thirty,” he said.

The Aston Martin’s engine hummed low on the coastal road. British Racing Green dark against the evening. The V8 pulled clean through the curves. Manual. Six gears. His hand on the shifter.

The guesthouse appeared behind a high wall. Colonial. Whitewashed stone. Pillars. A wide veranda wrapped three sides. Jasmine climbed the railings. The scent hit him before he cut the engine.

A servant took the keys. Silent. The front door was heavy teak. Hinges that did not squeak.

Inside: high ceilings. Polished floors. The air cool and still. Fresh jasmine hung in garlands from the cornices. Brass lamps lit the corridor. No electricity visible. Just flame and shadow.

The dining room opened at the end of the hall. Long table. White cloth. Candles in silver holders. The light was warm. Low. Jasmine petals scattered across the tablecloth.

Four women sat at the table. Already there. Already seated.

They rose when he entered. Fabric rustled. Bangles chimed.

Rao stepped forward from the shadows. Silk shirt. Gold watch. His smile was practiced. Exact.

“Sir. Allow me.”

He moved to the first woman. Left to right. The order deliberate.

“Preethi Reddy. Telugu cinema…”

“... needs no introduction,” Selvam said.

Rao stopped mid-breath and stepped back half a pace with the smoothness of a man who had been interrupted by important people before.

Selvam looked at her. Emerald silk. The pleats hung low and the gold chain lay flat across her navel, catching candlelight every time she breathed.

“The reels for the new film,” he said. “The item number with the drum section. You did it in one take.”

Her mouth opened. “Three takes, sir.”

“Then the other two were wasted.” He held her eyes. “The footwork in the second verse. That was spectacular.”

Preethi laughed, low and unguarded, one hand going to the gold at her waist. “You watched my reels.”

“I watch everything.” He shook her hand. Warm fingers. Bangles clicking against his wrist. “Chief Ministers have phones too.”

“I’m... ” She looked at Rao, then back. “Sir, you landed a rocket. I watched that with my mother. She cried. And now I’m standing here.”

“The rocket was easier than the drum section.”

Rao moved on, unhurried. “Anupama Menon. Malayalam cinema. Trained in... ”

“Mohiniyattam.” Selvam turned to her. Cream Kasavu, wide gold border, the pearl choker sitting high on her throat. Her spine was straight as a plumb line even standing still. “Fourteen years?”

“Sixteen, sir.”

“It shows.” His eyes went down ...  the choker, the collarbones, the deep line of shadow between her breasts where the cream blouse cut across, the flat bare stretch of waist below it ...  and came back up to her face. She had not looked away. She had been watching him look. “The temple sequence in your second film. You held the arangetram posture for the whole song. No editor could fake that.”

“Nobody has mentioned that sequence to me in two years.”

“Then nobody was paying attention.”

Her fingers touched the pearls at her throat. “Sir, I saw you on the television for the oath. My father kept the newspaper.”

“Tell your father I said his daughter has better posture than anyone in my cabinet.”

Samyuktha, beside her, made a sound that was almost a laugh and caught it.

“Samyuktha Hegde,” Rao said. “Kannada cinema. State award for her debut... ”

“For the sister,” Selvam said. “The film with the bus depot.”

She went very still. Wine-red chiffon, the pallu pinned diagonally at her shoulder, the rest of her bare down one side. Candlelight ran along the strap across her back when she shifted her weight.

“You’ve seen it,” she said.

“Of course.” He looked at her properly. The blouse was cut low and the chiffon did nothing to hide it, and he let his eyes rest there a beat longer than was polite, and when he came back up she was still holding his gaze with her chin lifted. “The scene at the ticket counter. You didn’t cry. Everyone else in that film cried. You didn’t.”

“The director wanted tears.”

“The director was wrong.”

Her breath went out through her nose. “I’m twenty-two, sir. I read about you in my engineering entrance coaching centre. Physics tuition. Your booster.”

“And now?”

“I can’t believe I am standing next you.”

“I can’t believe I am standing next to a star I’ve only seen on my phone.” Selvam said it back to her.

Meera was last. Deep blue raw silk. Gold waist chain. Jasmine braided thick into her hair, the same jasmine as the garlands in the corridor, so the whole room smelled of her.

Rao opened his mouth. Selvam raised two fingers.

“Chennai,” he said. “You’re on the flyover at Kathipara. Thirty feet high. I drive under you four mornings a week.”

Meera smiled slowly. “Which one? The jewellery hoarding or the phone one?”

“Both. The jewellery one is better lit. The phone one is a better photograph.” He looked down. The embroidery on her blouse was heavy and stiff and the swell above it was not, and the gold chain lay in the crease of her waist, and he took all of it in and did not hurry about it. When he looked up she had one eyebrow raised.

“You were saying, sir.”

“I was saying your last film deserved a better release date.”

“Tell the distributors.”

“I could.”

That landed. She held his eyes. The candle between them guttered and steadied.

“Sir,” she said. “Nobody has ever told me my release date was wrong.”

“Then nobody has watched the film.”

“Have you?”

“On my jet. Delhi to Chennai. I watched the third act twice.”

Behind him, Preethi said, “He watches everything. He said so.”

Rao folded his hands. “Shall we sit, sir?”

“Sit,” Selvam said.

They sat. Silk settled. Bangles rang against the table edge. Four women in candlelight and jasmine, and Selvam pulled his chair in and reached for the water jug himself before the servant could get to it.

“Now,” he said. “Tell me about Telugu box office.”

Preethi told him about the box office the way a woman tells a story she has told before and still enjoys. Opening weekend numbers. The Sankranthi release war. The three films that collided in January and how two of them died.

“So the audience decides in four hours,” Selvam said.

“Three. By the interval the verdict is on Twitter.” She tore a piece of parotta and did not eat it. “The producers watch the interval hashtag. Not the review.”

“That’s efficient.”

“That’s brutal.”

“It’s the same thing.”

She laughed. Across the table Anupama was eating with her left hand resting flat on the tablecloth, fingers together, thumb tucked. Sixteen years of that.

“And Kerala?” he said.

Anupama looked up. “Kerala watches the whole film, sir. Then it decides. Then it argues for a month.”

“That’s worse.”

“That’s better.”

The fish came. Meera’s jasmine got stronger every time she moved her head. Samyuktha asked him about the landing burn and did not ask it the way journalists asked it ...  she wanted the throttle numbers. He gave them to her. She repeated them back wrong by one decimal and he corrected her and she said sorry and he said don’t, the coaching centre didn’t cover gimbal authority.

“Physics tuition covered inclined planes,” she said.

“Then you’ve had the hardest part.”

Rao ate almost nothing. Selvam noticed that. Rao poured wine twice, laughed at the right places, said perhaps four sentences the entire meal, and none of them were about the union’s creative industries.

The plates went. Coffee came in small steel tumblers, the good kind, decoction dark and thick.

Selvam drank his standing.

“Sir.” Rao was already on his feet. Napkin folded. Hands folded over it. “I have a seven-thirty in the morning with the port trust. Forgive an old man.”

“It’s nine-forty.”

“An old man, sir.” The smile came out. Practiced. Exact. Held two beats too long.

He bowed his head ...  to Selvam, not to the table ...  and turned and went out through the teak door, and the servant went with him, and the second servant took the coffee tray and went with him too.

The door shut. The hinges did not squeak.

Selvam stood with the empty tumbler in his hand and listened to a car start in the compound and pull away down the gravel.

Nobody at the table had moved.

Not one of them had reached for a phone. Not one had asked when the car was coming. Preethi had her elbow on the table and her chin on her palm and she was looking at him. Meera had turned her chair. Actually turned it, so it faced him and not the table. Samyuktha’s pallu had slipped off the shoulder pin at some point during the coffee and she had not fixed it.

Anupama was watching him work it out. He could see her watching him work it out.

Four women. Four states. Introduced left to right in an order Rao had chosen. Placed in the room before he arrived so he would walk in to find them already seated. A guesthouse eleven kilometres out with a wall around it and one door.

Goodwill.

Selvam set the tumbler down on the white cloth. The sound it made was small.

“Rao,” he said.

“Sir?” Preethi said.

“Nothing.” He looked at the closed teak door, then back at the table. “He has been doing this a long time.”

Preethi’s mouth curved. “Rao told us in the car.”

“He told you in the car.”

“He told us a lot of things in the car.”

“Such as.”

“That the Chief Minister works too much.” She lifted one shoulder. The emerald silk slid. “That his new wife is busy. That we should be ourselves.”

“Were you?”

“I’m being myself right now, sir.”

Selvam let the silence sit. Nobody filled it. That told him the rest.

“You all knew,” he said. “Before the car.”

“Yes.” Meera. Flat and clear, no apology in it at all. She was still turned toward him with her hands in her lap. “I asked him twice. Once on the phone and once at the gate. He answered both times.”

“And you came.”

“I came.” She tilted her head. “Is that a problem, sir?”

“I’m establishing facts.”

“Then establish them properly.” Meera stood up. The blue silk fell straight. The gold chain at her waist caught the candle. “Four adults. Told plainly. Here by choice. Any of us can walk out of that door and the driver is in the compound and nobody in this state will hear about it from me.” She paused. “Now you.”

“Now me what.”

“Now you tell us whether you knew.”

“I did not.” He said it simply. “I thought I was coming to a dinner.”

Samyuktha made a small sound. “You came to a dinner.”

“I came to a dinner,” he agreed.

The candle between Meera and Anupama guttered. Anupama reached over without looking and straightened it in its holder with two fingers, precise, and the flame steadied.

“Sir,” she said. “There’s a room next door.”

“Is there.”

“They moved the furniture against the walls. I saw it when I came in.” Her chin was level. Pearl choker. Plumb-line spine. “There’s a sound system in it.”

Selvam looked at her for a while.

“Show me,” he said.

The second door opened off the corridor and the room behind it was twice the size of the dining hall.

Furniture against the walls. A long velvet couch running one side, wine-coloured, deep. Two armchairs shoved into a corner. The centre of the floor was bare polished teak, wide enough for eight people, and somebody had waxed it that afternoon because it caught the lamplight in long soft streaks.

A sound system sat on a side table. Small. Black. Somebody had already left it on standby, the little red light burning in the half-dark.

Selvam crossed to it and pressed the top button with one finger.

Something came out low. Strings. A slow four-count with a tabla under it, the kind of thing that played in hotel lobbies in Chennai and meant nothing and worked anyway.

He turned around.

Four of them in the doorway. Nobody had come in yet.

“Well,” he said.

Meera came in first. She walked to the middle of the floor and stopped there with her arms at her sides.

Then she began to dance.

A shift of weight onto her right foot, the hip going with it, the way it went in the songs ...  the four-count picked up by her body and handed back. She lifted her arms, her armpits showing.

The saree swung a half-beat behind her, and every time the hip came over, the pleats pulled and the fold at her waist rode up and the navel came out into the lamplight.

Then her navel went hiding under the saree again. And came out again with every step of her dance.

Her navel out. Under. Out. Under. In time.

Selvam stood by the side table with his hand still resting on the top of the sound system and watched the gold chain ride on her waist through all of it, her cute navel going in and out of the saree.

Preethi came off the doorframe.

She got to the floor on Meera’s left and found the count in three steps, and she was faster about it, sharper ...  her hips snapped where Meera’s swung ...  and the emerald sat so low on her that there was nothing to hide. The thin chain across her navel jumped with every beat.

“You’re rushing it,” Meera said, not stopping.

“I’m on the beat.”

“You’re on the wrong beat.”

“There’s one beat, Meera.”

Anupama walked between them and did not say anything at all. She simply arrived, and her feet went down flat and deliberate, heel then whole sole, and her spine did not bend anywhere it was not supposed to bend.

Her cream saree moved less than the other two because she moved less. Only the hips. Only the waist. The pearl choker swayed against her throat and the wide gold border swung at her ankles and the pleats at her hip lifted and dropped and the shadow under her navel came and went with the precision of something counted out loud somewhere behind her eyes.

Samyuktha was last. The pallu was still off the pin and she gave up on it entirely ...  unpinned it with two fingers and let the wine chiffon fall down her arm and drop, and then she had nothing over her front at all, and she came into the line at the end of it with her hair swinging.

Four of them across the bare teak. Bangles on the four-count. Bare feet on wax.

The room smelled of jasmine and hot lamp oil and, under that, of women who had been dancing for thirty seconds and were warm.

Selvam took his hand off the sound system and folded his arms.

“Hiding and showing the navel,” he said. “That’s an art, isn’t it.”

Preethi laughed first and it broke her count. She recovered it two steps later and put her palm flat on her stomach as if to check the thing was still there.

“Are we doing it right, sir?” she said.

“Are we?” Samyuktha said. She was giggling and she could not stop it and the giggle was doing something to her rhythm, small stutters in the four-count. “Tell us properly.”

“You’re doing it right.” He did not move from the side table. “There’s too much hiding.”

Meera stopped. Entirely. One foot forward, the other still turned out, the blue silk swinging past her ankles and settling.

“Too much hiding,” she said.

“Your navel was covered for three counts and out for one. That’s the wrong ratio.” He said it the way he read fuel consumption figures off a screen. “And none of you have lifted your arms high enough. When you do it properly the armpit shows. It hasn’t. Not once, from any of you.”

The giggling stopped being giggling and became something else. Preethi’s hand came off her stomach.

“He’s giving notes,” she said.

“He’s giving notes,” Meera agreed.

“Sir.” Anupama had not stopped dancing. She had slowed, that was all, her feet still going down heel-then-sole on the wax, and she was looking at him over the line of her own shoulder. “The arangetram posture keeps the elbows below the shoulder. Sixteen years. It is trained into the joint.”

“Untrain it.”

She held his eyes for a beat. Then she brought both arms up, slow, wrists turning the way they turned in the temple sequence, and took them past her shoulders and past her ears until her hands were above her head, and the sleeveless cream blouse rode with them, and the hollow under each arm came out bare and smooth into the lamplight.

She held it there. Perfectly still. Her spine did not shift a millimetre.

“Better,” Selvam said.

“How much better.”

“Considerably.”

“Show-off,” Preethi said, and put her own arms up, and she did not do it slowly at all, she threw them up on the beat and left them there and let her whole torso work underneath ...  the gold chain jumping loose on her waist, her navel out on every count and not going back under at all.

Samyuktha got her arms up a half-beat late and said something in Kannada that he did not catch.

Then the four of them stopped together.

Not on the beat. They stopped because Meera stopped, and the other three read it off her in the way film people read each other, and all four settled their weight hard onto one hip.

Four pairs of bare armpits in the lamplight, smooth and damp at the edges from thirty seconds of work.

Four navels exposed from under the saree with their waist stuck to the side.

They held it. The music went on under them without anybody moving to it.

“Is this better?” Meera said.

“Sir,” Preethi said. “Is it?”

Samyuktha was still giggling through her teeth.

Selvam licked his lips and came off the side table.

He crossed the teak without hurrying. Preethi was nearest. He stopped a foot short of her, close enough to smell the warmth coming off her skin under the jasmine, and looked down at her navel, at the gold chain lying loose in the crease.

She pushed her waist back away from him. The pleats came forward with it and came up over her navel hole and closed it, and there was nothing there to look at.

She was grinning at him.

“Hiding,” he said.

“You said the ratio was wrong.”

“I said there was too much hiding.”

“Now there’s more.” She had both arms still raised, wrists crossed above her head, and she did not lower them. “You’ll have to come closer, sir.”

He came closer.

She spun on her heel and ran.

He reached for her and got nothing but the pallu, a long trailing fold of her saree in his fist, and she kept going, and the saree came off her in a long unwinding pull, the pleats at her hip letting go one after another, and she turned a full circle on the teak before she understood what was happening, and by then the whole length of the saree was off her and pooled in his hand and she was standing in the middle of the floor in the gold-embroidered blouse and the petticoat, the thin chain still across her navel, her breasts heavy and bare in the lamplight where the blouse had been cut high and tight.

She looked down at herself. Then up at him. Then at the saree in his hand.

She giggled. High and unguarded, the sound bouncing off the high ceiling, and she crossed both arms over her chest, palms flat against the bare tops of her breasts where the blouse stopped.

“Sir.” She was still laughing. “Sir, look at what you did.”

He looked. Her emerald saree hung from his fist in a long shining rope.

She pointed at the other three with one finger, the arm still crossed tight over her chest, the blouse riding up with the gesture so a sliver of bare skin showed under her armpit.

“Sir. They still have their saree on.” She giggled trying to control her laughter.

He looked.

Three of them standing in the lamplight in their sarees, untouched, the pleats still sitting low, the gold borders and the pearls and the chiffon all exactly where they had been.

A shriek went up, high and sharp, and the three of them scattered like flushed birds. Samyuktha, cutting left to dart past him, caught her bare foot on the edge of a rug. Her balance broke. She pitched forward with a gasp, the momentum carrying her directly into his chest.

Selvam grabbed her pallu where it crossed her shoulder and pulled, one short tug, the same motion he had used on Preethi a minute before.

Samyuktha spun while her saree came off and Selvam used both hands and kept pulling until she is bare to the waist in the backless blouse, the single strap across her shoulder blades, the whole long plane of her back exposed to the lamplight.

She shrieked and twisted and got away from him, bare feet slapping the teak, and she ran for the velvet couch and threw herself onto it face-down, still laughing, her shoulders shaking.

Selvam grunted. “Fuck, Samyuktha. You’re so much hotter in person.” He watched her bare back rise and fall with laughter against the velvet. “This is just like that scene from the movie.”

He kept Anupama in the corner of his vision as she ducked behind Meera, one eye peeking out over her shoulder ...  pretending to hide, really wanting him to come for her saree next.

He turned on his heel and went for her.

Anupama was faster than he expected, already turning, already gathering her pleats in one fist ...  but he covered the distance in two steps and did not go for her pallu. He slid two fingers into the tucked fold at her hip, where the pleats sat pinned against her petticoat, and hooked them loose. One pull. The knot gave. He grabbed the freed end of the saree and unwound it from her body, arm over arm, the fabric coming off her in a long spiralling strip until only the pallu was left, dbangd loose over her shoulder, and he took that too with a single backward tug.

The cream Kasavu came away in his hands and she stood there in the backless blouse and the petticoat, the pearl choker still sitting high at her throat, her breasts plumb as it was, and her feet planted flat on the teak the way they had been planted through the whole dance.

Meera was the last to go and she was getting ready by taking the pallu wrapping around her waist and tucking it inside her petticoat for extra security, and he saw her doing it and he went for her anyway.

He got her by the waist with one arm and she yelped and laughed at the same time, her head going back against his chest, and he used the other hand to find the tucked-in pleats and pull them out, one long slow sweep, and the blue silk came away from her body in a single piece and pooled on the teak at her feet.

She stood in the embroidered blouse and the petticoat, the gold chain still sitting in the crease of her waist, the jasmine braid coming loose down one side, and she did not cross her arms. She did not hide anything. She looked at him over her shoulder with the same eyebrow raised and the same smile she had given him at the dinner table.

“Your navel is what we fans call “rare navel” as you never expose them in movies, and I can’t believe I just took your saree off,” he said. “I’ve been looking at the corner of your waist on billboards where I imagine your navel would be.”

“On billboards it’s lit by somebody else,” she said. “You’re standing right here.”

She turned fully around to face him. The blouse was heavy with embroidery and stiff across the bust and it did nothing at all to hide what was under it, and she knew it did nothing, and she was not doing anything about it.

The other three gathered around him without his noticing when, exactly. Preethi was on his left, her hip cocked out, both arms still crossed over her chest but her elbows tucked in now so the gold chain sat flat across the bare dip of her navel.

Anupama on his right, her hands loose at her sides. Samyuktha was standing next to Meera.

Preethi’s elbow nudged his ribs.

“Sir,” she said. Low. Warm. “You seem like a navel purist.”

He looked down at her. Her chin was tilted up and the gold chain was lying flat across the dip of her waist.

“A what.”

“A purist. You’ve been staring at all four of them since the dance started. You gave notes. You counted the ratio.” She uncrossed her arms slowly, letting them drop to her sides, and the blouse rode up another half-inch with the motion. “You can compare ours. Tell us what you think. Each one.”

“Compare.”

“Compare.” She stepped sideways, away from him, and planted herself flat-footed on the teak. “Line us up. One at a time. Tell us.”

Meera did not wait to be asked. She stepped to Preethi’s right and stood shoulder to shoulder with her, her own arms at her sides, the gold chain sitting in the crease, the jasmine coming loose down her cheek.

The music went on under them.

Selvam looked down at Preethi’s navel. The gold chain lay in the crease of it, and the skin around the hole was smooth and taut and slightly damp from the dancing, and the dip was deep enough that the chain sat in it like it had been made to.

He went down to his knees.

Preethi’s crossed arms went slack. She looked down at the top of his head.

“Sir... ”

“Your navel is deeper than it looks on screen,” he said. He said it quietly, the way he said things at his desk. He put his thumb on the gold chain and lifted it out of the way, the metal warm from her skin, and he set it flat against her stomach above the hole. Then he put his mouth on the navel itself.

He did not kiss it lightly. He put his lips flat against the rim and pressed inward, and the heat of her skin came up into his mouth, and he held it there for a full count of four, his tongue finding the dip at the bottom, the salt of her there.

Preethi’s stomach jumped under his mouth. He felt the muscles contract, a hard little flinch, and then go still, and then contract again, and he kept his lips pressed flat against the rim and let his tongue work the dip at the bottom until he had the full taste of her.

“Sir.” Her voice had gone up half a register. “Sir, you can’t just... ”

He lifted his mouth. The gold chain was warm where his thumb had been holding it.

“Yours is the deepest,” he said. He said it the way he said fuel consumption figures. “The crease runs clean. The skin on the rim is thinner than the other three. That’s what makes it look deeper on camera.”

“On camera.” She was breathing through her mouth. “You’re rating my navel.”

“I’m comparing them. You asked.”

“God.”

He moved to Meera. She was watching him with the same eyebrow raised, the same half-smile, but her arms had come up from her sides and were crossed under her breasts now, and the gold chain at her waist was sitting slightly crooked where she had shifted her weight.

He did not stand up. He stayed on his knees and turned his shoulders to her, and put his mouth on her navel the same way.

Meera’s was shallower than Preethi’s. The skin around the rim was thicker, smoother, the dip itself a clean shallow cup that his tongue filled entirely on the first pass. He worked it slow, the way he had worked Preethi’s, his lips flat against the rim, his tongue finding the bottom, and he held it there for a count of four before he lifted off.

Meera’s crossed arms had tightened. He could see her fingers digging into her own biceps.

“Yours is the shallowest,” he said. “That’s why it photographs well. The light catches the whole dip. On billboards it’s lit by somebody else, you said. They’re lighting the shallow ones. The deep ones need a different angle.”

He moved to Anupama.

She had not shifted her weight. She had not crossed her arms. She stood exactly where she had been standing, feet flat, spine straight, the pearl choker sitting level at her throat, and she watched him come to her on his knees the way she watched everything ...  with the careful attention of a woman who had been trained to notice details and was not going to miss this one.

Her skin had goosebumps anticipating the kiss.

He put his mouth on her navel.

Anupama’s was the neatest. The rim was perfectly round, the skin tight and even all the way around, the dip itself a clean geometric shape that his tongue found and mapped without effort. There was no wobble in it. No asymmetry.

He lifted off.

“Yours is the most precise,” he said. “The rim is perfectly round. The depth is exactly median. You could set a level on it.”

“I could set a level on it,” she repeated. Her voice was even. Her fingers had found the pearl choker at her throat and were resting on it, not gripping, just resting. “Sir, nobody has ever said that to me.”

“Nobody has ever been this close to it.”

“That is true.”

He turned to Samyuktha.

She was giggling before he got there. She had one hand over her mouth and the other hand flat on her stomach, and she was watching him come across the teak on his knees and she could not stop the sound coming out of her.

“Sir,” she said through her fingers. “Sir, please, I can’t... ”

“Stand still.”

“I can’t stand still, I’m... ” She took her hand off her mouth and put both hands on her stomach and pressed them flat, as if she could hold the giggling in through her palms. “Okay. Okay. I’m standing still.”

She was not standing still. Her shoulders were shaking. Her bare feet shifted on the wax.

He put his mouth on her navel.

Samyuktha’s was the smallest. The rim was tight and the dip was narrow, and his tongue did not fit into it the way it had fit into the others ...  he had to work it in at an angle, and when he did, the taste of her was sharper, saltier, the skin warmer where it had been pressed under the chiffon all evening.

She made a sound. Not a giggle. Something under the giggle, a small high note that broke in the middle, and her hands came off her stomach and went to the top of his head, and her fingers found his hair and gripped.

“Sir.” The word came out on nothing. “Sir, that’s... ”

He lifted off.

“Yours is the smallest,” he said. “The rim is tight. The dip is narrow. It photographs so well. On screen it looks like a shadow.”

“Sir.” She was giggling again, but the giggle had changed register, gone lower, and her fingers were moving in his hair without her seeming to decide to move them. “You’ve thought about this a lot.”

“I think about everything a lot.”

Preethi had come closer. He could feel her at his left shoulder without turning his head, the warmth of her skin radiating through the air between them.

“Sir.” Her voice was low. Warm. The Telugu lilt in it thicker than it had been at the table. “You’ve compared all four. Now rank them.”

“I didn’t rank them. I described them.”

“Rank them.”

He looked up at her. She was standing over him with her hip cocked out and her arms at her sides and the gold chain sitting flat across the dip of her navel, and her mouth was curved in the same grin she had given him when she hid the navel from him a quarter of an hour ago.

“Rank them,” she said again.

Meera had come closer on the other side. He could feel her there too, the jasmine stronger, the warmth of her body close enough that the air between them had changed temperature.

“Rank them,” Meera said. Flat. No lilt. The same voice she had used at the dinner table when she told him her release date was wrong.

Anupama said nothing. She was watching from where she stood, her hands still on the pearl choker, her spine straight, and she was waiting the way she waited for cues in the temple sequence ...  patient, precise, not going to rush the count.

Samyuktha’s hands were still in his hair. She had stopped giggling. She was looking down at him with her mouth slightly open and her breath coming in short pulls through her nose, and she was not saying anything at all.

Selvam stayed on his knees.

“Preethi’s is the deepest,” he said. “Meera’s is the shallowest. Anupama’s is the most precise. Samyuktha’s is the smallest.” He paused. “They’re all perfect. That’s the ranking. They’re all perfect and I’m not choosing.”

Preethi laughed. Low and warm and entirely unguarded, the sound bouncing off the high ceiling.

“Cheat,” she said.

“That’s not cheating. That’s accurate.”

“Cheat,” Meera agreed. But she was smiling. The same slow smile from the dinner table, the one that started at the left corner of her mouth and took its time arriving at the right.

Anupama’s fingers came off the pearl choker. She let her hands drop to her sides. The pearl choker swayed once and settled.

“Sir,” she said. “You said mine was the most precise.”

“I did.”

“That is not a ranking.”

“It’s a description. You asked for a description.”

He stayed on his knees a beat longer, looking up at the four of them standing over him in their blouses and petticoats, the lamplight running along the bare planes of their waists, and something shifted behind his ribs ...  not the weight from the oath, not the weight from the union, something smaller and older and more familiar, the thing that had made him pull the sarees off them in the first place.

He had an idea.

“All right,” he said. He said it quietly, the way he said things at his desk when he was about to change the agenda. “You want a ranking.”

“Yes,” Preethi said immediately.

“Proper ranking. Not descriptions.”

“Proper ranking.”

He looked up at her. Her gold chain was sitting crooked now where his thumb had moved it, and her arms were still at her sides, and the blouse was riding high enough that the underside of her breasts showed every time she breathed.

“I’ll rank them,” he said. “But I need to see something I haven’t seen yet.”

“What something,” Meera said. Her eyebrow was up.

“Something that doesn’t come out when you’re swaying your hips.”

Preethi’s mouth opened. Then closed. Then opened again. “Sir, what are you... ”

“You heard me.”

“Sir, we’re standing here in our... ” She looked down at herself, at the blouse, at the bare waist below it, and then back up at him. “What more do you want to see?”

Selvam did not answer immediately. He let the silence do the work it always did. The music went on under them. The tabla kept its four-count. The strings held.

He looked at Preethi’s blouse. The gold embroidery cut high and tight under the bust. The bare stretch of midriff below it, the navel he had just had his mouth on. Then he looked at the blouse again, at the place where the fabric met skin, at the thin line of shadow running along the underside of each breast where the blouse stopped.

He looked at Meera’s next. Heavy embroidery. Stiff across the bust. The same line of shadow.

Anupama’s cream blouse, backless, the single strap across her shoulder blades.

Samyuktha’s backless blouse, the single thin strap, the bare plane of her back.

He looked at all four of them, one after the other, the way he had looked at the navels, and he did not hurry about it, and he let them feel him looking.

“Sir,” Samyuktha said. Her voice had gone thin. “Sir, what are you asking.”

He stayed on his knees. He looked up at them from below, the angle putting the underside of every jaw in his sight line, the lamplight catching the sweat at Preethi’s throat, the pearl at Anupama’s, the gold chain at Meera’s.

“These,” he said. He reached up and put one finger on the edge of Preethi’s blouse, where the embroidery met skin, and he did not pull, he just rested it there, warm against the fabric. “These need to come off.”

The room went very quiet.

The music kept going. The tabla did not stop. The strings did not stop. Nothing in the room stopped except the four women standing over him.

Preethi’s stomach jumped under his finger the way it had jumped under his mouth.

“Sir,” she said. Her voice had gone up half a register again. “Sir, you can’t just... ”

“And the bras,” he said. He said it the way he said fuel consumption figures. “If you’re all wearing one.”

The shriek came from Samyuktha first. High and sharp, the same sound she had made when the saree came off, and she was already moving, her bare feet slapping the teak as she spun and bolted for the far end of the room, her hands coming up to cross over her chest as she ran.

Preethi went next. She did not shriek. She laughed ...  a high, unguarded, entirely panicked laugh ...  and she turned on her heel and ran the other way, toward the velvet couch, her arms already crossing over her breasts, the gold chain swinging loose at her waist.

Anupama did not run. She stepped backward, two quick precise steps, the way she stepped in the temple sequence when the count changed, and her hands came up to her chest, palms flat against the pearl choker, and she said, “Sir, no,” in a voice that was entirely level and entirely firm.

Meera did not move at all. She stood exactly where she was, the eyebrow still up, the half-smile still on, and she looked down at him on his knees and she said, “That is not how this works, sir.”

Selvam stood up.

He let the silence sit.

Then he said, “All right.”

Nobody moved.

“All right,” he said again. Quieter. “Then I won’t show you.”

The room did not change. The music kept going. The lamplight kept running along the teak.

Meera’s eyebrow came down a fraction. “Show us what.”

“What you all came here to see.”

Preethi’s arms loosened against her chest. He saw it from the corner of his eye ...  the gold chain shifting as her elbows dropped half an inch.

“Sir,” Preethi said from the far wall. “Sir, that’s not fair.”

Samyuktha’s head came up over the back of the velvet couch. Her eyes were wide. Her lower lip was caught between her teeth.

Meera was the first to move. She did not hurry. She uncrossed her arms from under her breasts ...  she had crossed them at some point without him noticing ...  and she let them drop to her sides, and she walked back toward the centre of the teak the way she had walked into the room an hour ago, deliberate, unhurried, the gold chain sitting in the crease of her waist, the jasmine coming loose down her cheek.

She stopped a foot in front of him. She did not look at his face. She looked at the floor.

Preethi came next. She peeled herself off the far wall and walked across the teak with her arms still crossed but her elbows lower now, and she stopped beside Meera, and she looked at the floor too.

Anupama came. Two precise steps forward. Her hands came off the pearl choker and dropped to her sides, and she took her place on Meera’s other side, and she looked at the floor.

Samyuktha came last. She came out from behind the velvet couch with her shoulders hunched and her arms crossed tight and her chin tucked into her chest, and she walked to the end of the line and stopped, and she looked at the floor hardest of all.

Four of them. Shoulder to shoulder. Arms at their sides or nearly so. Looking at the teak.

Selvam looked at the top of four heads. Jasmine. Loose dark hair. Braided jasmine coming undone. The lamplight catching the pearl at Anupama’s throat and the gold at Preethi’s waist and the bare plane of Samyuktha’s back where the single strap crossed her shoulder blades.

He stepped closer. Close enough that the warmth of them came up off their skin in a wave, jasmine and salt and the particular heat of women who had been running and stopping and standing very still.

He bent his head. His mouth was near Preethi’s ear, near enough that his breath moved the loose hair at her temple.

“Front hooks,” he said. Quiet. The word carrying the length of the line. “All four of you. Good girls.”

Preethi’s breath caught. He heard it. A small sharp pull through her nose, the sound of a woman who had been told something she had not expected to be told.

“Like someone told you what Daddy likes,” he said.

The words hung in the air between them. The music went on under them. The tabla kept its four-count. The strings held.

Preethi’s head came up first.

She turned to face him, slow, the gold chain shifting at her waist, and she brought both hands up between them and held them out flat, palms down, fingers spread. The nails were long. Manicured. Deep red, the colour of something that had been done that afternoon. She turned her hands over, showing him the underside, the white crescents at the tips catching the lamplight.

“Sir,” she said. Her mouth was curved. The smirk sat at the left corner and did not move. She bit her lower lip and let it go. Bit it again. “Sir, look at these.”

He looked.

“These nails,” she said. She wiggled the fingers. The red caught the light. “These nails are too long.”

The room did not move. The music kept going. The tabla held its four-count.

“Too long for what,” Selvam said.

“Too long for... ” She turned her hands over again, showing him the nails from the top, and she brought them up to the front of her blouse, to the place where the embroidery met skin, and she hooked one nail under the edge of the fabric and let it rest there, not pulling, just resting, the red tip warm against the gold thread. “Too long for this, sir. I’ll rip it. I’ll ruin the embroidery.”

Her eyes held his. The smirk had not moved. Her lower lip was still caught between her teeth, the bite mark pink where the tooth had pressed.

“You need help,” he said.

“I need help.” She said it back to him without blinking. “Sir, I’m asking nicely.”

Behind her, Meera made a sound. Not a laugh. Something quieter than a laugh, the particular exhale of a woman watching somebody else do the work she had been about to do.

Selvam reached out and took Preethi’s wrist. The bangles shifted against his fingers, gold on gold, warm from her skin. He turned her hand over so the palm faced up and he looked at the nails from the underside, the red tips, the white crescents.

“These are long,” he agreed.

“They’re too long, sir.”

“They are.”

He let go of her wrist. Her hand stayed where he had put it, palm up, fingers loose, the nails catching the light.

He stepped closer. Close enough that the warmth coming off her skin was a thing he could feel on his own face, and he brought both hands up between them and found the front of her blouse with his fingers.

The hooks were there. Three of them, small brass things set into the embroidered edge, running down the center line from the neckline to high above the navel. He could feel them under his thumbs, cool against the fabric.

He looked at Preethi’s face. She was looking at his hands on her blouse, not at his eyes, her lower lip still caught between her teeth, the smirk gone now, replaced by something quieter, something that sat in the crease between her eyebrows.

He worked the top hook first. His thumb found the small brass catch and pressed it sideways, and the hook came loose with a click that was louder in the quiet room than it had any right to be. The fabric parted an inch at the neckline, and the shadow underneath it deepened.

Preethi’s breath came out through her nose. A short, controlled pull. Her stomach jumped under his hands the way it had jumped under his mouth.

He worked the second hook. Same motion. The click was quieter this time, or maybe the room had gotten louder ...  the tabla had not changed but the air around it had, the four-count carrying something it had not carried before.

The fabric parted another inch. The shadow underneath it ran deeper, and he could see the line where the embroidery ended and skin began, a clean edge of gold thread against the brown of her, and under the gold thread, nothing.

No bra.

He had not been expecting that. He had been expecting a bra ...  thin lingerie, maybe, or the kind of thing actresses wore under stiff embroidery to keep the shape ...  and there was nothing. The blouse was doing all the work. The embroidery was the structure. The hooks were the only thing holding it on.

Preethi’s stomach jumped again under his hands.

“Fuck you are so perky.” He thought a bra was holding them.

He had the rest giggle.

He looked at her and asked “May I?” but didn’t wait for the answer. His thumb found the third hook and pressed it sideways, and the click came, and the blouse fell open down the center line from her throat to the dip above her navel, and the embroidery parted in two neat halves, and there was nothing underneath it at all.

Her breasts sat high and full and entirely bare in the lamplight, the nipples dark and already hard, the skin smooth and warm where the gold thread had been pressed against it all evening.

Preethi did not cross her arms. She did not cover herself. She looked down at the open blouse and then up at him, and the smirk came back, slow, starting at the left corner and taking its time.

He asked another “May I?” and bent down to with his mouth about to reach her exposed breast.

Before his lips could touch her exposed breasts a faint voice came from the side.

“Sir, may nails are also too long.”

He turned his head. Anupama was standing shoulder to shoulder with Meera, her hands at her sides, and she had one hand held out the way Preethi had held hers out, palm up, fingers spread, the red nails catching the lamplight. Her nails were shorter than Preethi’s. Neater. The same deep red, but filed closer to the quick, the white crescents smaller.

“Sir,” she said. “My nails are also too long. For the hooks.”

He looked at her hand. Then at her blouse. The cream fabric, the single thin strap across her shoulder blades, the backless cut that meant there was no front to it at all ...  the hooks would be at the side, under the arm, or at the neck, wherever the strap fastened.

He removed Preethi’s blouse and dropped it on the floor. He came close to Anupama.

He unhooked her blouse with the same focus one hook at a time.

She whispered “No bra, sir.”

“Excellent.”

He pulled her blouse open to expose her dark nipples that was getting hard.

“My nails…” two voices trailed off at the same time. Meera and Samyuktha, both holding their hands, giggling.

“One at a time,” he smiled back at them.

He did Meera next.

While opening Meera’s breasts he kind of lost control and used his thumbs to brush her left nipple while looking into her eyes.

Meera bit her lips in pleasure while Samyuktha cleared her throat, signaling it’s her turn. He took his thumb off Meera’s nipple and stepped back half a pace, and Meera’s eyebrow went up and she did not say anything, but the bit mark on her lower lip was red where she had pressed her teeth into it.

Samyuktha was last. She had come closer without his noticing, close enough that the warmth of her was a thing he could feel against his forearm.

Her hands were still crossed over her chest, the fingers laced tight, the red nails digging into her own forearms, and she was looking up at him with her chin tucked and her eyes wide and the giggle sitting in her throat like something she could not swallow.

“Sir,” she said. “Sir, my nails are also... ”

“Too long.”

“Too long, sir.” She nodded fast, twice, her hair swinging. “I’ll rip it. I’ll ruin the chiffon.”

“The saree is already on the floor, dear.”

“The blouse, sir. The blouse.”

He looked at her hands. The nails were the shortest of the four, filed close, the red neat and even, and she was holding them so tight against her arms that the crescents had gone white at the tips.

He let the silence do the work.

“Sir,” she said. Her voice was thin. “Sir, please.”

He stepped into her. Close enough that the warmth coming off her bare back hit his chest before his hands got to her, and he found the single thin strap where it crossed her shoulder blades with two fingers and followed it down to the side, to the place where it fastened under her arm.

He removed her blouse.

“No bra. Good girl.”

He bent down to kiss her breasts and he heard footsteps running and 8 breasts swarmed around him in a tight hug.

Eight breasts pressed against him from four sides, warm and bare and slightly damp at the edges, and his face was somewhere in the middle of them, and he could not see anything except skin and lamplight and the gold chain at Preethi’s waist pressing into his cheek.

“Sir... ”

“Sir, you can’t just... ”

“Sir, that’s not fair, you have to... ”

Four voices at once. Overlapping. The Telugu lilt and the flat Tamil and the measured Malayalam and the thin Kannada, all of them talking at the same time, and his hands were full of bare skin and he did not know whose was whose.

Preethi began to button his shirt.

“Skin to skin.” she said giggling.

Her fingers found the top button of his shirt and worked it loose, the red nails careful against the white cotton, and the fabric parted an inch at his throat.

“Skin to skin,” she said again, giggling, and her bare breasts pressed harder against his ribs as she leaned into the work.

He could not see her hands. He could feel them ...  the red nails catching on the second button, the small tug as it came free, the warm air hitting his chest where the shirt opened. Her breath was on his collarbone, short and warm, and she was laughing under it, the giggle running through the words.

“Your nails and not too long for my shirt buttons?” He teased while letting her completely take off his shirt.

“Our nails are not too long for your buttons, sir,” she said.

The cool air hit his back and then the warmth of four bodies closed around him again, bare skin against bare skin, and his hands found hips and waists and the gold chain at Preethi’s navel pressing into his palm.

There were breasts wherever he looked.

They crushed into his chest ...  two from Preethi, warm and full and slightly damp at the edges, the nipples hard against his sternum. They pressed into his left bicep from Meera, the skin there smoother than the skin on her waist, the nipple catching on the muscle every time he moved his arm. They were against his right bicep from Anupama, fuller like Preethi’s and firmer, the dancer’s muscle under them, and when he turned his head to the right her pearl choker was against his jaw and her bare breast was against his shoulder and he could feel the goosebumps on it where the cool air had hit before the warmth of him had closed the gap.

He grabbed two of them with his palms and another one with his fingers, and the fourth one was against his back where Samyuktha had pressed herself into him from behind, her bare breasts warm and small and firm against his shoulder blades, and her arms were around his waist from behind, her red nails digging into his stomach above the belt.

He could not tell whose nipple was whose against his palm. He did not try. He let his hands move where they moved and the skin moved with them, warm and bare and slightly damp, and the giggling had stopped being giggling and become something lower, something that ran through the four bodies pressed against him like a current.

Then he bent his head and took one nipple into his mouth, and the girl it belonged to ...  he could not tell which ...  made a small sound and her fingers tightened in his hair. He reached out with both hands and found two more, filling his palms with them, squeezing slow, and the two of them pressed closer against his arms, breathing harder. Preethi, still at his back with her arms around his waist, leaned around his shoulder and looked down at him over the bare skin of the other three.

“How about me?” she said, and her red nails walked up his stomach toward his chest.

He turned around and grabbed both of Preethi’s breasts and bit her nipples and pulled them until she screamed, her back arching, the gold chain biting into his palm as she pressed harder against him.

“Sir... ” Her voice cracked. “Sir, that’s... ”

He did not let go. He kept his teeth on her, pulling slow, and her hands found his hair and gripped, the red nails scbanging his scalp, and the sound she made was not a word at all.

Meera’s hand came between them. He felt her fingers on his wrist, warm and deliberate, and she pulled his hand away from Preethi’s breast with a firmness that surprised him.

“Sir.” Her voice was level. The eyebrow was up again.

Preethi’s nipple came out of his mouth with a small wet sound, and she gasped and her hands stayed in his hair, the nails still pressed into his scalp, and her chest was heaving against his.

“Sorry,” he said. He did not sound sorry. He sounded like a man who had found something he wanted and was not going to pretend otherwise.

Preethi’s mouth was open. Her lower lip was swollen where she had been biting it, and the smirk was gone entirely, replaced by something wide-eyed and unguarded, and she was looking at his mouth like she wanted it back where it had been.

He took her lips and started biting her lips.

He had her lower lip between his teeth when the hands came down.

Not Preethi’s hands ...  hers were still in his hair, the nails still pressed into his scalp ...  but the other six, all at once, as if the four of them had decided the same thing in the same half-second without saying it. Six hands dropping from his shoulders and his arms and his back and going down, fast, the red nails catching the lamplight as they went, and before he could register which hand belonged to which girl they were at his waist, at the knot of the veshti, at the pleats where the white cloth sat folded against his hips.

He felt the knot give on the first pull ...  Preethi’s nails at the front, working the pleats loose with the same quick fingers that had undone his shirt buttons ...  and the white cloth shifted at his hip, and something in his chest tightened the way it tightened when a launch window was closing faster than he had calculated.

He took a step back.

Preethi’s hands came up off the knot and locked around his neck instead. Both arms, bare and warm, the gold bangles sliding down to her elbows, and her mouth found his before his head had finished turning, and she kissed him the way she had been dancing ...  sharp, no hesitation, her teeth catching his lower lip and pulling.

“Not so fast ladies.”

They giggled.

“We want to see that cock the internet is raving about, Mr. Chief Minister.” Meera teased him.

“Let me taste all of your breasts first please.”

“Only since you asked nicely.”

They all stood and Selvam began to tasted each breast in peace. As he started sucking on a nipple of Meera’s she held his head while others caressed his chest and waited for their turn.

First he took Meera’s left breast into his mouth and held it there, his tongue flat against the nipple, and Meera’s fingers tightened in his hair and her breath came out through her nose in a long controlled pull. The skin under his lips was smooth and warm and tasted of jasmine and salt, and he could feel the muscle underneath it, the dancer’s discipline holding her still while his mouth worked.

He did not hurry. He took his time on the left one, his tongue circling the nipple slow, his lips closing over it and pulling, and Meera’s fingers moved in his hair without her seeming to decide to move them, and the sound she made was low and steady, the same flat voice she used at the dinner table but pitched half a register down.

Then he took Anupama’s right breast and did exactly the same thing.

Then he slapped their breasts gently and watched them bounce, the skin warm under his palm, the nipples still wet from his mouth, and the sound they made was small and sharp and entirely involuntary ...  a gasp from Meera, a controlled exhale from Anupama, and from Preethi, who was watching from behind his shoulder with her arms still around his waist, a giggle that broke in the middle into something lower.

He turned to Preethi and took her left breast into his mouth and bit down, and she shrieked and her nails went into his scalp and her back arched, and he held her there with one hand on her hip and the other on the gold chain at her waist, and he worked the nipple with his tongue the way he had worked the others, slow and deliberate, and Preethi’s voice climbed and broke and climbed again.

Samyuktha and Meera grabbed his cock and whispered. “Mr. Chief Minister, you are rock hard please let us see it.

He undid the knot.

His fingers worked the pleats loose. One pull. The white cloth fell.

The room stopped.

His cock stood thick and dark in the lamplight. Full hard. The head slick. A vein ran the length of the shaft. Heavy between his legs.

Preethi stared.

“I have seen a lot of leading men.” Her voice came out slow. “None of them look like this.”

Her eyes went from his cock to his chest to his shoulders and back down. She didn’t rush it. She took her time.

“All of you.” Her finger traced a line through the air. “This body. And that.” Her finger stopped at his cock. “Telugu cinema. Nothing like this.”

Anupama stepped forward. Her hands came up.

“May I?” she said.

He nodded.

She took his cock in both palms. Flat. Measured. Her thumbs met at the base. Her fingers stretched along the shaft. She lifted him carefully. Held him at eye level. Her expression didn’t change.

“The proportion is... ” She stopped. Started again. “The proportion is not what I expected.”

“What did you expect?”

“Something smaller.” She didn’t look away from his cock. “Something more… proportional. This is outside the frame.”

She held him a moment longer. Her thumbs pressed gently against the vein. Testing. Then she lowered him and stepped back. Her pearl choker swayed.

Samyuktha made a sound.

It came out in Kannada. A single phrase, low and flat, her eyes wide.

Preethi turned. “What did she say?”

Samyuktha’s cheeks went dark. “I said... ” She swallowed. “I said this cannot be real.”

Preethi laughed. Full and sudden. The sound bounced off the high ceiling.

“It’s real,” she said. “And it’s right here.”

Meera was already kneeling. Her cheek found the side of his cock. Warm skin against warm skin. She looked up at his face.

“How do you walk around with this all day?” Her breath was warm against his shaft. “Is it heavy?”

“Manageable,” he said.

She snorted. “I doubt that.”

Her mouth opened. She took the head. Slow. Her lips closed around him. Heat. Wet. She held him there, tongue pressing flat.

Preethi dropped to her knees on his left. Both hands wrapped around the shaft below Meera’s mouth. She worked upward in long slow licks. Her tongue found the vein. Traced it.

Anupama knelt on his right. Her hands cupped his balls with the care she gave to ritual objects. Her mouth descended. Unhurried. Thorough. Her pearl choker swayed against his inner thigh.

Samyuktha took the base. Both hands around the shaft. She watched the other three for two seconds. Her eyes wide. Then she found her angle and put her mouth to the side. Worked upward toward Preethi’s tongue.

Four mouths. Warm. Wet. Moving.

His hand went to Preethi’s hair. His other hand found Meera’s jaw.

“She’s being too gentle with the balls,” Preethi said against his shaft. Her voice vibrated. “Anupama. You’re being too gentle.”

Anupama lifted her mouth. A thin strand of saliva connected her lip to his balls. She wiped it with her thumb.

“I am being precise.” Her voice was level. “Not gentle. There’s a difference.”

She demonstrated. Her mouth closed over his right ball. Suction. Firm. Steady.

Selvam’s breath caught. A sound came out of his chest. Low. Deep. Pulled from somewhere he hadn’t expected.

Anupama held for three seconds. Then released. She looked at Preethi.

“Was that gentle?”

Preethi grinned against his shaft. “Point taken.”

Samyuktha looked up at Meera. Her mouth still working the side of his cock.

“How are you managing the girth?” Samyuktha’s words came muffled. “My jaw is locking.”

Meera pulled off. A wet sound. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

“I’m not managing it.” She looked at Samyuktha over his cock. “I’m committed.”

She took him back. Deeper this time. Her throat worked.

“I want the head.” Preethi’s hands tightened on the shaft. “Meera. My turn.”

Meera shook her head without pulling off. The vibration ran through him.

“You just got there.” Preethi’s nails dug into his thigh. “I’ve been waiting since we knelt down.

Meera pulled off. Saliva ran down his shaft. She wiped her mouth.

“Fine. The head is yours. For one minute.”

“Two minutes.”

“One and a half.”

They switched. Meera moved to the shaft. Preethi took the head. Her mouth closed over him with a sound that was almost a groan.

Samyuktha shifted to the other side. Her hands found new purchase on his thighs.

Anupama stayed where she was. Her mouth on his balls. Steady. Unhurried.

“I’m not moving,” she said against his skin. “I’ve found my place.”

Nobody argued.

Selvam looked at the ceiling. The wall. The far corner. His breathing had changed. His hips wanted to move. He kept them still.

“This isn’t fair,” he said.

Samyuktha looked up. Her mouth was red. “Fair to whom?”

“Anyone in this room.”

Preethi pulled off. A wet pop. “Life is not fair.”

She took him deep. All the way. Her nose pressed against his stomach. Her throat worked. Her eyes watered.

The rotation kept going. Preethi to Meera. Meera to Samyuktha. Samyuktha back to the base. Anupama never moved from the balls.

His hand tightened in Preethi’s hair. His other hand found Meera’s shoulder. His breathing came in shorter pulls.

He was close.

They felt it. All four of them. Their rhythm changed. Slower. More deliberate. Their faces tilted up. Close together. Negotiating in low voices.

“I initiated,” Meera said. Her lips were swollen. “First ropes are mine.”

“Initiation does not grant monopoly.” Preethi’s hand was on his thigh, her nails pressing half-moons into his skin.

“I want to taste it.” Anupama sat back on her heels. Her pearl choker was crooked. “I’ve been curious since the balls. I’m not leaving without tasting it.”

“I’m the youngest.” Samyuktha’s voice was thin. “I have the most to learn. That should count.”

Selvam looked down at the four of them. Their faces tilted up. Red mouths. Wet chins. Eyes bright.

“I’ll do my best to be equitable,” he said.

He meant it.

The first pulse hit Meera’s cheek. White. Thick. A stripe across her skin from jaw to temple. Her eyes closed. Her mouth opened.

The second landed on Preethi’s lips. She caught it. Swallowed. Then opened for more.

The third crossed Anupama’s upturned face. Across her nose. Her cheek. The pearl choker caught a drop. She didn’t wipe it. She brought her finger to her mouth. Tasted. Her eyes widened.

The fourth landed on Samyuktha’s chin. Ran down her throat. She made a small sound. Her tongue found the drop on her collarbone.

He stroked himself through the last pulses. Slow. His hand wet. All four of them stayed still. Receiving it. Their faces marked. Their mouths open.

Anupama licked her lips. Her finger traced the line on her cheek.

“It’s not what I expected.” She tasted again. Slowly. “It’s better than I expected.”

Samyuktha nodded. Her finger found the drop on her throat. She brought it to her mouth. Her eyes never left his cock.

“She told us at dinner.” Preethi wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. She was smiling. The smirk was back. Full force. “She told us this evening would be worth attending.”

She looked at Meera.

Meera was still on her knees. Her cheek striped. Her mouth curved. The same slow smile from the dinner table. Taking its time.

Worth attending.

Selvam’s hand rested on Preethi’s head. His other hand found Anupama’s shoulder. The four of them stayed where they were. On their knees. On the teak. In the lamplight.

The music had stopped at some point. Nobody had noticed.

Chapter 165: 12 Holes, One Night

# Scene 1

Four women knelt on the teak. Faces glistening. Petticoats crumpled at their knees. Breasts bare. Waist chains catching the candlelight.

The music had stopped. Nobody had noticed when.

Selvam stood over them. His cock was still hard. Full. The head slick. He did not cover himself. He looked down at the four of them in turn.

Meera first. Her cheek striped white. The jasmine had come completely loose from her hair. It lay on her shoulder, wilting. Her eyebrow was up. The half-smile sat on her mouth, taking its time. She did not wipe her face.

Anupama next. Her pearl choker was crooked. A drop had dried on the clasp. Her hands rested on her thighs. Composed. The dancer’s discipline. Her eyes were bright.

Preethi. Her smirk was back. Full force. She had wiped her mouth but left the rest. Her finger traced a line on her collarbone. She tasted it. Her eyes held his.

Samyuktha. Still wide-eyed. Her finger on her throat, finding drops. Bringing them to her mouth one by one. Her lower lip caught between her teeth.

The room understood. The evening had not ended.

Selvam reached down. His hands found Meera’s waist. The gold chain was warm against his palms. He drew her up.

She rose. Bare feet on the teak. Her legs were steady. The billboard composure was intact until she looked at his cock again. Then it wasn’t.

He walked her to the velvet couch. The four sarees were still there. Piled in a shining heap. Emerald. Blue silk. Cream Kasavu. Wine chiffon.

“Turn,” he said.

She turned. Her back to the couch. Her eyes on his.

“Bend forward.”

She bent. Her palms went flat on the silk. The couch gave under her weight. Her bare breasts hung forward. Her back arched. The gold waist chain sat across her bare midriff. Her ass was round and full in the lamplight.

He put his hand on the drawstring of her petticoat. One pull. The knot gave.

The petticoat fell. A soft sound on the teak. She was naked from the waist down. Her ass bare. The cleft between her cheeks visible. The gold chain sat above it.

Selvam stepped behind her. His cock rested against her ass. Warm skin on warm skin. He reached between her legs. His fingers found her pussy. Wet. Already.

“Sir,” she said. Her voice was low. “Sir, you don’t need to... ”

“I know.” His thumb found her clit. Pressed. “I want to.”

She pushed back against his hand. A small, involuntary movement. Her hips shifted.

He positioned himself. The head of his cock pressed against her entrance. He pushed. Slow. Full.

Meera’s voice filled the room. Loud. Unguarded. A sound that came from somewhere behind the billboard composure and tore straight through it.

“Fuck.” Her palms pressed into the silk. “Sir, fuck.”

He pushed deeper. The stretch was visible. Her body took him. Inch by inch. The gold chain shifted against her midriff with each forward movement of his hips.

“Breathe,” he said.

She breathed. A ragged pull through her nose. Her back arched harder. Her ass pushed back against him.

He started to move. Steady pace. Not gentle. Not rough. The way he moved when he knew exactly what he was doing. His hands gripped her hips. The gold chain lay flat under his thumbs.

Each thrust pushed the chain forward. Each withdrawal pulled it back. He used it as a guide. The way he did with Vanitha. The chain told him where her waist was. Where her center was.

Meera’s voice did not stop. It climbed. Broke. Climbed again. Words came out between sounds. Tamil. English. Nothing coherent. Her palms slid on the silk. Her breasts swung beneath her.

“Sir, I’m... ” Her voice cracked. “I’m close. Already. Fuck.”

He kept the pace. Steady. His cock filled her completely on each thrust. The head pressed deep. He could feel her tightening around him. The first orgasm building fast. The accumulated heat of the evening. The worship. The waiting.

It hit her hard. Her body went rigid. Her back arched to the point of breaking. A sound came out of her that was not a word. Not a moan. Something primal. Raw. Her pussy clenched around his cock in rhythmic pulses. He held steady. Let her ride it.

“Good,” he said. Against the back of her neck. “Good girl.”

She shuddered. Once. Twice. Her breath came in short, sharp pulls. Her palms were white on the silk.

He did not slow down. He did not speed up. He kept the same pace. Deliberate. Patient. His hands on her hips, feeling the gold chain shift with each thrust.

The second orgasm built slower. He could feel it in the way her breathing changed. Deeper. More controlled at first, then less controlled. Her hips started to move with him rather than simply receiving. Pushing back. Meeting him.

“Sir.” Her voice was lower now. Rough. “Sir, I’m going to... ”

“I know.” His thumb found the chain. Pressed it flat against her skin. “Let it happen.”

It happened. Longer than the first. Harder. Her body shook. Her voice broke into something that was half sob, half laugh. Her pussy gripped him so tight he could feel each individual pulse. His cock throbbed inside her.

He came. Deep. Complete. His hips pressed forward and held. The first pulse hit the back of her pussy. The second followed. The third. He stayed buried. His hands tight on her hips. The gold chain warm under his thumbs.

He held still. A long beat. Ten seconds. Fifteen. His cock pulsing inside her. Her pussy still clenching around him.

Then he withdrew. Slow. Careful. A wet sound. His cock came free. Semen followed. A thin line down her inner thigh.

Meera did not move. Her palms were still flat on the silk. Her breath came in long, slow pulls. The jasmine had fallen completely from her hair. It lay on the couch beside her hand.

The room was quiet. The other three were still kneeling on the teak. Watching.

Preethi’s smirk had not moved. Her eyes were dark.

Anupama’s hands were folded in her lap. Her pearl choker was straight now. Her breathing was even.

Samyuktha’s lower lip was still caught between her teeth. Her eyes were wide.

Selvam looked at Meera’s back. The gold chain. The sweat on her skin. The marks his fingers had left on her hips.

He touched the small of her back. Once. Light.

“Good,” he said.

She turned her head. Looked at him over her shoulder. The eyebrow was up. The half-smile was back. Taking its time.

“Better than billboards,” she said.

# Scene 2

Selvam turned to Preethi. She was still kneeling. The smirk sat on her mouth. Her eyes were dark.

He reached down. His hands found her waist. The gold chain was warm. He drew her up.

She rose. Bare feet on the teak. Her legs were steady. Her breasts swung with the motion. The smirk did not move.

“Hands and knees,” he said. “On the couch.”

She climbed onto the velvet. Meera had moved to the far end, her legs curled beneath her, watching. Preethi positioned herself on all fours. Her palms pressed into the velvet. Her bare breasts hung beneath her. Her ass was up. The gold chain sat across her waist.

Selvam stepped behind her. His cock was hard again. Full. The head slick from Meera. He positioned himself. Pressed against her entrance.

He pushed. No ceremony. No slow build. One firm thrust. Full length.

Preethi’s voice filled the room. Sharp. Involuntary. A sound that started high and broke in the middle. Her palms dug into the velvet.

“Fuck. Sir. Fuck.”

He did not wait. He set the pace from the start. Hard. Steady. Each thrust drove deep. His hands gripped her hips. The gold chain shifted under his thumbs.

Preethi pushed back. Immediately. Not just receiving. Meeting him. Her hips drove backward on each thrust with the same energy she had shown all evening. Competitive. Deliberate. As if she intended to match him rather than simply take him.

“You are fucking me so hard, sir” she said. Not begging. Stating. “ahhh, sir.”

He gave it to her. His hips drove forward. His cock filled her completely. The wet sound of skin on skin filled the space between thrusts. Her breasts swung beneath her. The gold chain jumped with each impact.

“You’re pushing back,” he said. Against the back of her neck. “You’re fucking me.”

“No I am...” Her voice was breathless. The smirk was gone. Something rawer had taken its place. “Not... “ A thrust cut her off. She gasped. “Not keeping up.”

“You are.”

She was. Her hips met his with equal force. Her ass took each thrust and pushed back against the next. The gold chain slapped against her skin. Her breath came in short, sharp pulls.

“Sir, I’m... ” Her voice cracked. “I’m close. Fuck.”

The first orgasm hit her hard. Loud. Her back arched. Her voice broke into a cry that bounced off the high ceiling. Her pussy clenched around his cock in rhythmic pulses. He kept the pace. Steady. Hard. His hands tight on her hips.

“Good girl,” he said.

She shuddered. Once. Twice. Her breath caught. Then released. Her palms were white on the velvet.

He did not slow down. He kept the same pace. Hard. Steady. His cock driving into her. Deep. Full. Each thrust pushed the chain forward. Each withdrawal pulled it back.

The second orgasm built faster than the first. He could feel it in the way her body changed. Tenser. Hotter. Her pussy gripped him tighter on each thrust. Her breathing shortened. Her hips moved with a new urgency.

“Sir.” Her voice was thin. “Sir, I’m going to... ”

“Come.”

She came. Harder than the first. Longer. Her voice broke into something that was half sob, half laugh. Her body shook. Her pussy pulsed around his cock in waves. She pushed back against him with everything she had. Her competitive energy peaked. Her ass drove against his hips. The gold chain slapped her skin.

He came with her. Deep. His hips pressed forward and held. The first pulse hit the back of her pussy. The second followed. The third. He stayed buried. His hands tight on her hips. The gold chain warm under his thumbs.

He held. Ten seconds. Fifteen. His cock pulsing inside her. Her pussy still clenching.

Then he withdrew. Slow. A wet sound. Semen followed. Down her inner thigh.

Preethi collapsed forward. Her face pressed into the velvet cushion. Her breath came in long, ragged pulls. Her breasts were flat against the couch. The gold chain lay still across her waist.

The room was quiet. Meera watched from the far end. Anupama and Samyuktha were still on the teak. Their eyes wide.

Preethi turned her head. Her cheek against the velvet. The smirk was gone. Her mouth was soft. Open. Her eyes were half-closed.

“I understand now,” she said. The Telugu lilt was thick. Warm. “Why four states are impressed.”

Selvam’s hand rested on the small of her back. Warm. Steady.

“Get some water,” he said.

She nodded against the cushion. Did not move.

Meera reached for the water jug on the side table. Poured a glass. Handed it to Preethi without getting up.

Preethi took it. Drank. Half the glass. Set it down on the teak beside the couch. Her hand was steady. The red nails caught the lamplight.

She looked at Selvam over her shoulder. The smirk was trying to come back. It made it halfway.

“Sir,” she said. “That was not fair.”

She laughed. The sound filled the room. Warm. Unguarded. The way she had laughed at the dinner table. The way she had laughed when her saree came off.

She settled onto her side on the couch. Her legs curled. Her bare breasts pressed together. The gold chain lay flat across her waist. She watched Anupama.

Anupama was still kneeling on the teak. Her hands folded in her lap. Her pearl choker straight. Her breathing even. Her eyes on Selvam.

Waiting.

# Scene 3

Selvam turned to Anupama. She was still kneeling. Her hands folded in her lap. Her pearl choker straight. Her breathing even.

He reached down. His hands found her waist. The skin was warm. Smooth. He drew her up.

She rose. Bare feet on the teak. Her spine was straight. The plumb line. Sixteen years of Mohiniyattam in the way she stood. Her breasts did not swing. They sat high and firm. The pearl choker did not move.

He led her to the couch. Meera and Preethi had shifted to make room. They watched from the far end. Anupama did not look at them. Her eyes were on Selvam.

“On your back,” he said.

She lay down. The velvet was cool against her bare skin. Her legs together. Her arms at her sides. The classical repose. Everything in its place.

Selvam did not climb on top of her immediately. He sat beside her on the couch edge. His hand found her hip. His fingers traced the bone. Slow. Deliberate. Learning the geometry.

Her hip was sharp under his thumb. The muscle beneath it was dense. Dancer’s muscle. Built through repetition. His fingers moved along her iliac crest. The precise angle where it met her waist.

“Your body is different,” he said.

“Yes.” Her voice was even. The measured tone she had used at the dinner table. “Sixteen years of training changes the architecture.”

His hand moved to her spine. His fingers traced each vertebra from the small of her back upward. She did not arch. She held still. Let him read her.

“The curvature is deliberate,” she said. “The lumbar spine is held flat in most postures. The thoracic extends. The cervical... ”

“I know,” he said. His fingers had reached the base of her neck. The pearl choker sat above his thumb. “I’ve watched you dance.”

She was quiet. Her breathing even. Her eyes held his.

He moved between her legs. His hands spread her thighs. Not wide. Controlled. The way a dancer’s legs would open. Precise. Measured. Her knees bent. Her feet flat on the velvet. The position was classical. Aramandi. Half-seated. The base posture of Mohiniyattam.

He positioned himself. The head of his cock pressed against her entrance. He pushed. Slow. Deliberate.

Anupama made a sound. Controlled. Precise. A single exhale through her nose. Her pussy took him. Inch by inch. The stretch was visible. Her body accepted him with the same discipline it accepted every movement. Calibrated. Exact.

“Breathe,” he said.

She breathed. A long, measured pull. Her chest rose. The pearl choker shifted a millimeter. Settled.

He started to move. Slow. Not the hard pace he had used with Preethi. Not the steady rhythm he had used with Meera. Something slower. More specific. Each thrust measured. His hands guided her hips. His thumbs found the points where her iliac crests met her waist. He used them as reference.

Her body responded with precision. Her hips moved with his. Not the competitive push of Preethi. Not the abandoned arch of Meera. Something calibrated. Each movement intentional. Her breathing stayed even. Her sounds were controlled. A soft exhale on each thrust. A measured inhale on each withdrawal.

“Sir,” she said. Her voice was low. Steady. “You’re reading my body.”

“I am.”

“It’s... ” A thrust cut her off. Her exhale broke. Came back controlled. “It’s accurate.”

He kept the pace. Slow. Deep. Each thrust filled her completely. His cock pressed against her cervix. She did not flinch. She accepted it the way she accepted everything. With measured grace.

Her control began to fray at the edges. He could see it. The way her breathing shortened. The way her measured exhales started to catch. Her hips began to move with less precision. More urgency. The classical posture held, but it was working harder to hold.

He bent over her. His mouth found the back of her neck. Below the pearl choker. His lips pressed against her skin. Warm. His cock pushed deep. Held.

Anupama’s control broke.

It happened all at once. Her back arched. The plumb line dissolved. Her legs came up. Wrapped around his waist. Not the controlled aramandi. Something entirely unclassical. Her voice came out loud. Raw. A sound that had nothing to do with sixteen years of training and everything to do with the cock buried inside her.

“Sir.” The word broke. “Sir, I’m... ”

“Come.”

She came. Hard. Her body shook. Her pussy clenched around his cock in pulses that were anything but measured. Her voice climbed. Broke. Climbed again. The pearl choker jumped against her throat. Her legs tightened around his waist. Her hips drove up to meet him.

He came with her. Deep. His hips pressed forward and held. The first pulse hit the back of her pussy. The second. The third. He stayed buried. His mouth against the back of her neck. His breath warm on her skin.

He held. Ten seconds. Fifteen. His cock pulsing inside her. Her pussy still clenching.

Then he withdrew. Slow. Careful. A wet sound. Semen followed. Between her thighs.

Anupama did not move immediately. Her legs remained around his waist. Her breathing came in long, slow pulls. The controlled rhythm trying to reassert itself. Her eyes were closed. The pearl choker was crooked. A single pearl had come loose from the strand. It lay on the velvet beside her head.

Selvam’s hand rested on her hip. Warm. Steady.

She opened her eyes. Looked at him. Something had changed in her face. The measured composure was reassembling itself, piece by piece, but something had been permanently displaced. A crack in the architecture.

“Sir,” she said. Her voice was even again. Or nearly. “That was not Mohiniyattam.”

“No,” he said. “It wasn’t.”

A smile touched her mouth. The left corner. Measured. Precise. The way her movements had been before they weren’t.

She unwrapped her legs from his waist. Set her feet back on the velvet. The classical repose returned. Slower than before. Her hands found the pearl choker. Straightened it. Her breathing evened.

Meera and Preethi watched from the far end of the couch. Neither spoke.

Samyuktha was still on the teak. The last one kneeling. Her eyes were wide. Her lower lip caught between her teeth.

Waiting.

# Scene 4

Selvam turned to Samyuktha. She was still kneeling. The youngest in the room. Her eyes were wide. Her lower lip caught between her teeth. Her hands were folded tight in her lap.

He reached down. His hands found her shoulders. Gentle. He drew her up.

She rose. Bare feet on the teak. Her legs were not steady. She swayed slightly. Caught her balance. Her breasts were small and firm. Her breathing was quick. Shallow.

“It’s okay,” he said.

She nodded. Fast. Twice. Her lower lip was still caught. Her eyes did not leave his cock.

He led her to the couch. The other three had shifted. Made room. Meera at one end. Preethi in the middle. Anupama at the other end. They watched. Nobody spoke.

Samyuktha climbed onto the velvet. On her hands and knees. The position Preethi had taken. Her palms pressed into the cushion. Her back was straight. Too straight. Nervous-straight. Her ass was up. Small. Tight. The gold chain sat across her waist.

Selvam settled behind her. His cock was hard. Full. He positioned himself. Pressed against her entrance. Warm. Wet. She was already wet. Had been wet since the worship. Since the first drop hit her chin.

He pushed. Slow. Deliberate. The first inch.

Samyuktha made a sound. Half shock. Half the specific relief of something long anticipated finally arriving. A small, high note that broke in the middle. Her palms dug into the velvet.

“Sir.” Her voice was thin. “Sir, it’s... ”

“Breathe.”

She breathed. A ragged pull. Her back arched. The gold chain shifted.

He pushed deeper. Slow. Inch by inch. The stretch was visible. Her body took him. Tight. Hot. Her pussy gripped him with each forward movement. Her breathing shortened. Quickened.

He reached full depth. His cock buried inside her. His hips against her ass. He stayed still. His hand came to rest flat on her lower back. Warm. Steady.

“Breathe,” he said again.

She breathed. Longer this time. Slower. Her body adjusted. The tension in her back eased. The gold chain settled. Her palms relaxed on the velvet.

“Okay,” she said. Her voice was steadier. “Okay, sir.”

He began to move. Gentle. Slow. Each thrust measured. His hands guided her hips. Light. Careful. The gold chain shifted under his thumbs. Her body responded gradually. Her hips began to move with his. Tentative at first. Then more certain.

“Good,” he said. Against the back of her neck. “Good girl.”

She pushed back. A small movement. Testing. Her ass met his next thrust with a little more force. The gold chain slapped against her skin.

“Slow down please,” she said. The word came out quiet. Almost a question.

He didn’t, instead he gave it to her. Not all the way. But harder than before. His hips drove forward with more intent. His cock filled her completely. The wet sound filled the space between thrusts. Her breasts swung beneath her. Small. Firm.

“Ahh you are so big, I can’t” she said again. Louder. Not a question this time. A request. Her voice was changing. Losing its careful composure. The Kannada lilt thickening.

He gave her more. His pace increased. His hands gripped her hips. Firm. The gold chain warm under his thumbs. Each thrust drove deep. His cock pressed against her cervix. She did not flinch. She pushed back. Harder. Her ass met his hips with equal force.

“Sir.” Her voice broke. “Sir, I can’t... ”

“Can’t what.”

“Can’t... ” A thrust cut her off. She gasped. “Can’t keep quiet. Sorry. Sorry, sir.”

“Don’t be sorry.” His hand moved to the small of her back. Pressed. “Be loud.”

She was loud. Her voice climbed. Broke. Climbed again. Words came out in Kannada. In English. Nothing coherent. Her careful composure dissolved entirely. Her back arched. Her palms slid on the velvet. Her breasts swung wildly beneath her. The gold chain jumped with each thrust.

“Sir, I’m... ” Her voice cracked. “I’m close. Fuck. Sir, fuck.”

“Come.”

She came. Hard. Her body shook. Her pussy clenched around his cock in pulses that were visible in the way her ass tightened. Her voice broke into a cry that filled the room. High. Raw. Young. Her hips drove back against him. Everything she had.

He came with her. Deep. His hips pressed forward and held. The first pulse hit the back of her pussy. The second. The third. He stayed buried. His hand flat on her lower back. Warm. Steady.

He held. Ten seconds. Fifteen. His cock pulsing inside her. Her pussy still clenching.

Then he withdrew. Slow. Careful. A wet sound. Semen followed. Down her inner thigh.

Samyuktha collapsed forward. Her face pressed into the velvet. Her breath came in long, ragged pulls. Her shoulders shook. Once. Twice. A small sound escaped her. Half laugh, half sob.

Selvam’s hand rested on the small of her back. Warm. Steady.

She turned her head. Her cheek against the velvet. Her eyes were wet. Her lower lip was swollen where she had been biting it. The giggle was gone. Something quieter had taken its place.

“Sir,” she said. Her voice was rough. “Thank you.”

He nodded. Once.

The first round was complete. Four women on the velvet couch. Meera at one end, legs curled, watching. Preethi in the middle, on her side, the smirk trying to reassemble itself on her mouth. Anupama at the other end, the pearl choker straight, her breathing measured. Samyuktha between them, her face still pressed into the cushion, her breath slowing.

The room was quiet. The lamplight caught the gold chains. The pearl. The jasmine wilted on the teak. The four sarees piled in their shining heap. Emerald. Blue silk. Cream Kasavu. Wine chiffon.

Selvam stood beside the couch. His cock was still hard. Full. The head slick. He did not cover himself.

Preethi looked at it. Then at his face. The smirk made it all the way back.

“Round two?” she said.

The room waited.

Meera stood first. Bare feet on the teak. The gold chain catching light. She took his wrist. Her fingers were warm. Steady.

“Bedroom,” she said. Not a question.

Preethi was already off the couch. Her hand found his other wrist. The red nails pressed half-moons into his skin. “This way, sir.”

Anupama rose. The pearl choker swayed. She did not take his arm. She walked ahead. The corridor. The brass lamps. The jasmine garlands. Her spine straight. Her bare feet silent on the marble.

Samyuktha came last. Her hand on the small of his back. Warm. Light. Her breath still coming in short pulls.

The master bedroom was at the end of the corridor. Wide. High ceiling. A four-poster bed with white sheets. Brass lamps on either side. The jasmine garlands had been hung here too. The scent was thicker. Warmer.

Anupama reached it first. She turned at the foot of the bed. Her spine straight. Her bare feet silent on the marble. She looked at him over her shoulder. The pearl choker caught the lamplight.

Preethi pulled him through the door. Her hand still on his wrist. The red nails pressing. Meera came in behind him. Samyuktha’s hand was still on the small of his back. Warm. Light.

They moved together. Not planned. Not choreographed. The way film people moved when the camera was rolling and nobody had given a direction. Preethi’s hands found his chest first. Her palms flat against his skin. Her mouth found his jaw. Meera came around his left side. Her bare breasts pressed against his ribs. Her mouth found his neck. Anupama stepped forward from the foot of the bed. Her hands found his hips. Her mouth found his collarbone. Samyuktha pressed in from behind. Her small breasts warm against his shoulder blades. Her arms around his waist.

Eight hands. Warm. Bare. Moving. His cock was hard between them. Pressed against Preethi’s stomach. Against Anupama’s hip. He could not tell whose skin was whose.

They walked him backward. All four of them. A single organism. His calves hit the edge of the bed. He sat. The mattress gave. They did not stop.

Preethi climbed onto his lap first. Her thighs on either side of his. Her bare breasts level with his face. Her hands in his hair. Her mouth near his ear.

“Sir,” she whispered. The Telugu lilt was thick. Warm. “Sir, I need to tell you something.”

Her breath was hot against his ear. Her fingers moved in his hair. Slow. Deliberate.

“I have never enjoyed sex before tonight.” The words came out quiet. Almost careful. The smirk was gone. Something rawer sat in her voice. “Not once. Not with anyone. Not in any film. Not in any hotel room. Not ever.”

Selvam’s chest tightened. The weight behind his ribs shifted. Rao’s face came to him. The practiced smile. The exact cadence. *Goodwill. Cultural exchange. Rising talent.* The car ride. The things Rao had told them in the car. *Be yourselves.* The particular weight of a man who had placed four women in a room for the pleasure of someone wealthier and more powerful.

He felt sick for a half-second. The nausea sat in his throat and then passed. His hands were on Preethi’s waist. The gold chain warm under his thumbs.

“Rao told you to come,” he said. Not a question.

“Rao told us to come.” Preethi’s mouth was against his ear. Her lips moved against his skin. “He told us the Chief Minister works too much. He told us his new wife is busy. He told us we should be ourselves.” She paused. Her fingers tightened in his hair. “He was right about all of it.”

“Did he tell you why you were coming?”

“Yes.” The word was simple. Clear. No apology in it. “He told us plainly. In the car. Before the gate. We all heard it. We all said yes.”

Selvam looked at the other three. Meera was on his left. Her hand on his thigh. Her eyebrow up. Watching. Anupama was on his right. Her hands on his shoulders. Her breathing even. Samyuktha was behind him. Her arms around his waist. Her cheek against his back.

“All of you,” he said. “You knew.”

“We knew,” Meera said. Flat. The same voice from the dinner table. “We came anyway.”

“Rao didn’t make us come,” Anupama said. Her voice was measured. Precise. “He told us what the evening was. We chose to stay.”

Samyuktha’s arms tightened around his waist. Her cheek pressed harder against his back. She did not speak. She did not need to.

Preethi’s mouth was still at his ear. Her breath was warm. Her fingers still moved in his hair.

“Sir,” she whispered. “This is the best fuck of my life. All four of us. We’ve been talking about it since the couch. We’re not pretending.”

The weight behind his ribs shifted again. Different this time. Not nausea. Something quieter. The particular gravity of a thing that had been offered freely and accepted freely and was now sitting in his lap with her thighs around his hips and her mouth against his ear.

He nodded. Once. His hands tightened on Preethi’s waist. The gold chain pressed into his palms.

Preethi’s lips moved against his ear again. Closer. Her voice dropped lower. The Telugu lilt so thick the words blurred at the edges.

“Sir.” A pause. Her fingers stopped moving in his hair. “I need to tell you one more thing.”

He waited.

“I’m an asshole virgin.”

The words hung in the air between them. The lamplight caught the gold chain at her waist. The jasmine scent pressed thick against the back of his throat.

Selvam’s hands did not move from her waist. His thumbs stayed where they were, pressed into the crease above her hips, the chain warm under them. He processed the words the way he processed everything ...  carefully, completely, before acting.

An asshole virgin. He knew what she meant. He had heard the phrase before, in contexts less intimate than this one. A woman who had had sex but never felt it. Never wanted it. Never understood what the fuss was about. Who had lain under men and counted ceiling tiles and wondered when it would be over. Who had faked sounds and faked movements and faked the particular arch of the back that men mistook for pleasure.

Preethi’s breath was still against his ear. Warm. Waiting. Her fingers had gone still in his hair.

He turned his head. His mouth was close to hers. Close enough that he could see the fine lines at the corners of her eyes, the place where the smirk usually sat, now empty, replaced by something wider and more vulnerable.

“Nobody’s touched you there,” he said. Quiet. Not a question.

“Nobody’s touched me anywhere.” Her voice was thin. The Telugu lilt had thickened past intelligibility at the edges. “Not like this. Not like you.”

He looked at the other three. Meera’s hand was still on his thigh. Her eyebrow was up. Watching. She had heard. He could see it in the way her mouth had gone flat. Anupama’s hands were still on his shoulders. Her breathing was even, but her fingers had tightened against his skin. Samyuktha’s cheek was still against his back. Her arms had not loosened.

They had known. All four of them. The conversation on the couch. The things they had been saying to each other while he was inside them one at a time. Preethi was the spokesperson. The one with the courage to say it out loud with her thighs around his hips and her mouth against his ear.

His cock was still hard against her. Pressed between them. The head slick where it had been pressed against her stomach. He did not shift. He did not try to hide it. She could feel it. She had been feeling it since she climbed onto his lap.

“Preethi,” he said. He used her name. Not *ma*. Not *dear*. Her name. The way he had used it during the first round, when her voice had broken into something that was half sob, half laugh, and her competitive energy had peaked against his hips.

She looked at him. Her eyes were dark. The smirk was gone entirely. Something raw sat in its place.

“You want me to fuck your ass,” he said.

The words came out clean. No euphemism. No ornament. The way he said everything. Fuel consumption figures. Landing burn numbers. The thing itself, named plainly.

Preethi’s stomach jumped under his hands. The gold chain shifted. Her fingers tightened in his hair.

“Yes.” The word came out on nothing. A breath. “Sir. Yes.”

He held her eyes. The lamplight caught the sweat at her throat. The place where her pulse beat fast against the skin.

“Have you ever had anything in there?”

“No.”

“Fingers?”

“Nothing.” Her voice cracked on the word. She swallowed. “I’ve never even ...  I’ve never touched it myself. I didn’t know it could feel like anything.”

He processed that. The particular architecture of a woman who had been fucked by politicians and never once felt it in the place that mattered. Who had faked pleasure so many times she had forgotten what the real thing looked like. Who had sat on the couch tonight and watched the other three come apart and understood, for the first time, that her body was capable of something she had never been given access to.

His hands moved from her waist. One hand went to the small of her back. The other found her thigh. He lifted her. She was light. Her thighs tightened around his hips. Her breasts pressed against his chest. Her mouth found his jaw.

He stood. The mattress gave under his knees as he rose. Preethi’s legs wrapped around his waist. Her arms around his neck. The gold chain pressed between them. Warm.

The other three moved with him. Not away. Closer. Meera’s hand found his bicep. Anupama’s hand found his hip. Samyuktha stayed at his back, her arms still around his waist, her cheek against his shoulder blade.

He carried Preethi to the center of the bed. The white sheets were cool under his knees. He laid her down. On her back. Her hair spread against the pillow. Her breasts sat high and full. The gold chain lay flat across her waist. Her legs were still around his hips. Her eyes were on his face.

“On your stomach,” he said.

She turned. Slow. Her breasts pressed into the sheets. Her ass came up. The cleft between her cheeks visible. The gold chain sat above it. Her hands found the pillow. Gripped.

Selvam looked at the other three. Meera was at the foot of the bed. Her arms crossed under her breasts. Watching. The eyebrow was up. Anupama stood at the side. Her hands at her sides. The pearl choker straight. Samyuktha was behind him. Her hand on his lower back. Warm.

“Oil,” he said.

Meera moved first. She crossed to the side table. Opened the drawer. The sound of glass against wood. She came back with a small bottle. Clear glass. Amber liquid inside. She pressed it into his palm. Her fingers were warm.

He uncapped it. The scent was sandalwood. Warm. He poured it into his palm. The oil was thick. Warm from the room. He set the bottle on the sheets beside Preethi’s hip.

His slick hand found her ass. One finger traced the cleft. Slow.

He spread the cleft with his thumb and forefinger. The skin parted. Her asshole was tight. Pink. Unused. The muscle was clenched shut, the way it clenched on a woman who had never been touched there, the sphincter pulled tight against itself, the ring of muscle a clean dark line in the lamplight.

He poured more oil into his palm. The sandalwood scent rose between them. He set the bottle down again. His slick thumb found the hole.

Preethi’s breath caught. He felt it in the way her back went rigid under his hand. Her fingers tightened in the pillow. The gold chain jumped against her waist.

“Breathe,” he said.

She breathed. A long, shaking pull through her nose. Her body did not relax. The muscle stayed clenched.

He did not push. He rested his thumb against the rim. The oil was warm. It spread against her skin where his thumb met the hole. He let it sit there. Let the warmth do the work. Let her body understand that the pressure was not going to increase without warning.

“Sir.” Her voice was muffled against the pillow. The Telugu lilt so thick the word blurred. “Sir, it’s... ”

“Don’t talk.” His thumb pressed. Gently. The oil spread around the rim. He could feel the muscle give a fraction. Then clench again. “Breathe through it.”

She breathed. Her back arched. The gold chain shifted. Her ass pushed up against his hand ...  not away, toward, the competitive energy asserting itself even here, even in this, her body trying to meet the pressure rather than simply receive it.

His thumb circled the rim. Slow. Deliberate. The oil spread in a warm slick ring. He could see it catching the lamplight, the amber shine against her skin. He worked the oil into the muscle with small, patient circles, his thumb pressing just enough to stretch the rim without pushing through.

Preethi’s breathing changed. The shaking pull steadied. Became something longer. Deeper. Her fingers loosened in the pillow. The gold chain settled.

“Good,” he said. His thumb pressed a fraction deeper. The rim gave. The muscle opened around the pad of his thumb. Not all the way. A quarter inch. Enough to let the oil inside.

Preethi made a sound. Low. Surprised. Not pain. Something adjacent to it. Her hips shifted. Her ass pressed harder against his hand.

“More oil,” he said.

Meera was already moving. She picked up the bottle from the sheets. Pressed it into his free hand. Her fingers were warm. He did not look at her. He kept his eyes on Preethi’s asshole, on the place where his thumb sat inside the rim, the oil spreading in a thin slick around it.

He poured. The oil ran down the cleft. Warm. It pooled at the base of his thumb and spread along the crack. He used his other hand to spread it. His fingers traced the cleft from the base of her spine to the place where his thumb sat. The oil covered everything. Her hole. The skin around it. The inner curves of her cheeks.

His thumb pressed deeper. The rim gave another fraction. The muscle was loosening. He could feel it in the way the resistance changed ...  not gone, but different, the clenched tightness giving way to something that yielded and then held, yielded and then held, like a door being opened one inch at a time.

“Sir.” Preethi’s voice came from the pillow. Thick. Rough. “Sir, it’s warm.”

“The oil.”

“The oil. And... ” Her hips shifted. “And something else. I can feel it. Inside. I didn’t know... ”

She stopped. Her breath caught. His thumb had pressed to the first knuckle. The rim stretched around it. The oil made the entry smooth. No drag. No resistance beyond the muscle itself.

“Breathe,” he said again.

She breathed. Her body accepted the knuckle. The muscle gripped his thumb. Tight. Hot. The oil was warm inside her. He could feel it against his skin.

He held there. Did not move. Let her body understand the shape of him. The pressure. The warmth. The particular sensation of something inside a place that had never had anything inside it.

Preethi’s fingers had gone white on the pillow. Her back was arched. The gold chain sat flat across her waist. Her breathing came in short, controlled pulls. The Telugu lilt had thickened past words. The sounds she made were not language.

He pulled his thumb out. Slow. The rim gripped it on the way out. The muscle did not want to let go. He felt it cling to his skin. Then release. A wet sound. The oil glistened on her hole in the lamplight.

He poured more oil. This time he used two fingers. His index and middle finger, slicked to the knuckle. The oil ran between them. He brought them to her hole.

Preethi’s body clenched. The muscle pulled tight. Her back went rigid. Her fingers found the pillow again.

“I’m going to use two fingers,” he said. Plain. Clear. No euphemism. “You’ll feel the stretch. It’s going to be more than the thumb. Breathe through it.”

“Yes.” The word came out on nothing. “Yes, sir.”

He pressed. Both fingers against the rim. The oil spread. The muscle gave. Then resisted. Gave again. He did not force it. He let the oil do the work. The warmth. The slick. His fingers pressed in tandem, the tips finding the rim together, and the muscle opened around them.

Preethi made a sound that was not a word. Her hips drove back against his hand. Competitive. Deliberate. The same energy she had shown on the couch. Her ass pushed his fingers deeper. The rim stretched. The oil made it smooth. His fingers slid to the second knuckle.

“Fuck.” The word came from the pillow. Muffled. Raw. “Sir. Fuck. That’s... ”

“Breathe.”

She breathed. Her body took both fingers. The muscle gripped them. Hot. Tight. The oil was warm inside her. He could feel the walls of her asshole around his fingers, the smooth ring of muscle, the particular architecture of a place that had never been touched.

He worked his fingers inside her. Slow circles. The oil spreading against the walls of her asshole. He could feel the muscle yielding by degrees, the clenched resistance giving way to something that gripped and released, gripped and released, each rotation loosening her a fraction more.

Preethi’s breathing had steadied. The short, controlled pulls had become something longer. Her hips moved with his fingers now. Not the competitive drive from before. Something more deliberate. Her body learning the sensation. Mapping it. The particular architecture of a place that had never been touched being mapped by a man who did not hurry.

He pulled his fingers out. Slow. The rim gripped them. Released. The oil glistened on her hole in the lamplight. A thin strand connected his fingers to her asshole. It broke when he set his hand on her hip.

He looked at the other three. Meera was still at the foot of the bed. Arms crossed under her breasts. Watching. The eyebrow up. Anupama stood at the side. Hands at her sides. Pearl choker straight. Samyuktha was behind him. Her hand on his lower back. Warm.

“Meera,” he said. “Anupama. Come here.”

They moved without hesitation. Meera came around to Preethi’s left side. Anupama to her right. They stood on either side of the bed, looking down at Preethi’s bare ass, at the oil-slick cleft, at the hole that glistened in the lamplight.

“Hold her cheeks open,” he said. “Both of you. Spread them wide.”

Meera’s hands found Preethi’s left cheek. Her fingers pressed into the flesh. Firm. Deliberate. She pulled outward. The cheek stretched. The cleft widened. The inner curve of Preethi’s ass came into view, pink and oil-slick.

Anupama’s hands found the right cheek. She pulled with the same measured precision she brought to everything. The cleft opened further. Wider. Preethi’s asshole was fully exposed between them. The rim was pink and swollen from the stretching, the muscle still clenching and releasing in slow pulses, the oil catching the lamplight in a wet shine.

Preethi made a sound against the pillow. Not pain. Something else. Her fingers tightened in the sheets. The gold chain jumped against her waist.

“Sir,” she said. Her voice was muffled. Thick. “Sir, I can feel the air on it. I can feel... ”

“Hold still.” His hand found her hip. Warm. Steady. “Don’t push. Don’t pull. Let them hold you.”

Meera’s grip tightened. Her thumbs pressed into the inner curve of Preethi’s cheek, pulling the flesh apart. The cleft opened wider. Preethi’s asshole sat in the center of it, exposed, the rim still pulsing, the oil running in thin lines down toward the sheets.

Anupama held her side with the same precision. Her fingers did not slip in the oil. She had found the grip and held it. The dancer’s discipline. Everything in its place.

Selvam poured more oil into his palm. The sandalwood scent rose thick between them. He slicked his cock with both hands. The oil was warm. It covered his shaft from the base to the head. His cock was hard. Full. The head was slick and dark in the lamplight.

He positioned himself. The head pressed against her asshole. The oil made the contact smooth. No drag. The rim was warm against the tip of his cock. He could feel it pulsing. Clenching. Releasing.

He looked over his shoulder. Samyuktha was behind him, her hand still on his lower back, warm and light. Her eyes were wide. Her lower lip was caught between her teeth.

“Samyuktha.” His voice was low. Steady. “Hold her down. Hips and waist. Don’t let her move.”

Samyuktha moved. She came around the side of the bed, her bare feet silent on the marble, and she climbed onto the mattress behind Preethi. Her small hands found Preethi’s hips. Her fingers pressed into the flesh. Firm. She leaned her weight forward, her bare breasts pressing against Preethi’s lower back, her arms wrapping around Preethi’s waist from behind.

“Hold tight,” Selvam said.

Samyuktha’s arms tightened. Her chin rested on Preethi’s shoulder blade. Her breath was warm against Preethi’s skin.

Selvam pressed the head of his cock against Preethi’s asshole.

The rim was warm. Oil-slick. The muscle gripped the tip of him, clenching and releasing in slow pulses. He pressed forward. Gentle. A quarter inch. The rim stretched around the head. The oil made it smooth.

Preethi’s body moved. Instinct. Not thought. Her hips drove forward, away from his cock, her ass pulling back from the pressure. The motion was sharp. Involuntary. Her fingers clawed into the pillow. A sound came out of her that was half gasp, half the particular panic of a body doing what bodies do when something enters a place that has never been entered.

“Hold her,” Selvam said. His voice did not change. Steady. Authoritative without cruelty.

Samyuktha’s arms tightened. Her small body pressed harder against Preethi’s back. Her hands locked around Preethi’s waist. Preethi’s hips bucked forward again, trying to escape, and Samyuktha held. Her weight was not much, but it was enough. Preethi’s forward movement stopped at the edge of Samyuktha’s grip.

“Meera.” Selvam’s eyes found Meera on the left. “Wider. Pull the cheek out.”

Meera’s hands adjusted. Her thumbs dug deeper into the inner curve of Preethi’s left cheek. She pulled outward. Hard. The cleft opened wider. Preethi’s asshole sat exposed in the center of it, the rim pink and swollen, the oil running in thin lines down toward the sheets.

“Anupama. Same.”

Anupama pulled. The right cheek stretched. The cleft opened to its widest. Preethi’s asshole was fully displayed between them, the muscle clenching and releasing around nothing, the oil catching the lamplight in a wet shine.

Preethi’s breathing was ragged. Her face was pressed into the pillow. Her fingers were white. The gold chain jumped against her waist with each breath.

“Sir.” The word came out muffled. Thick. The Telugu lilt so heavy the consonants blurred. “Sir, I moved. I’m sorry. I didn’t... ”

“Don’t apologize.” His hand found her hip. Warm. Steady. “That was instinct. Your body doesn’t know this yet. We’ll teach it.”

He pressed the head of his cock against her asshole again.

The rim was still warm. Still oil-slick. The muscle gripped the tip. He pressed forward. Slow. A quarter inch. The rim stretched. The oil spread. He could feel the particular architecture of her ...  the smooth ring of muscle, the heat inside, the walls that had never been touched closing around the head of his cock.

Preethi’s body tensed. Her hips tried to move forward again. Samyuktha held. Her arms locked around Preethi’s waist. Her small breasts pressed flat against Preethi’s back. Preethi’s forward movement stopped at the edge of the grip. Her hips settled. Her breathing changed. The panic in it gave way to something longer. More controlled.

“Breathe,” Selvam said.

She breathed. A long pull through her nose. Her back arched. The gold chain shifted.

He pressed another quarter inch. The rim stretched further. The head of his cock slid inside her asshole. The muscle gripped him. Tight. Hot. The oil made the entry smooth. No drag. No resistance beyond the muscle itself.

Preethi made a sound. Not pain. Something adjacent to it. Surprise. The particular sound of a body feeling something it had never felt. Her fingers loosened in the pillow. Her hips pushed back ...  not away this time, toward, the competitive energy reasserting itself, her ass meeting his cock with a small, deliberate movement.

“Good girl,” he said.

He held there. The head of his cock inside her asshole. The rim stretched around the widest part of him. The oil was warm between them. He could feel her pulse through the muscle ...  fast, steady, the rhythm of a body learning something new.

Meera’s hands held the left cheek open. Her thumbs pressed into the flesh. The cleft was wide. He could see where his cock entered her, the rim stretched pink around the shaft, the oil glistening in the lamplight.

Anupama held the right cheek with the same precision. Her fingers did not slip. The dancer’s discipline. Everything in its place.

Samyuktha’s arms were still locked around Preethi’s waist. Her breath was warm against Preethi’s shoulder blade. Her hands were steady.

Selvam pressed deeper. Another inch. The rim stretched further. The oil spread along the shaft. He could feel the walls of her asshole around him, smooth and hot and tight, the particular architecture of a place that had never been entered now holding him inside it.

Preethi’s voice came from the pillow. Muffled. Thick. The Telugu lilt past intelligibility. Words that were not words. Sounds that were the raw material of language before language formed them.

Her hips pushed back. Harder this time. Her ass met his next push with equal force. The competitive energy. Matching him. Meeting him. Her body was learning fast. The instinct to pull away had been replaced by something else ...  the instinct to push back, to take more, to meet the pressure rather than resist it.

He pressed deeper. Half his length now. The rim was stretched to its limit around the shaft. The oil ran in thin lines down toward his balls. He could feel the heat of her inside, the walls of her asshole gripping him in rhythmic pulses, the muscle learning the shape of him, clenching and releasing in waves that matched her breathing.

Preethi’s voice came from the pillow again. Muffled. Thick. The Telugu lilt had dissolved into something that was not language at all. A long, broken sound that started low in her chest and climbed through her throat and came out against the cotton in a vibration he could feel through the mattress.

Meera’s eyebrow went up a fraction. Her hands held the left cheek steady. She looked at Selvam over Preethi’s bare back, and something moved in her face ...  recognition, maybe, or the particular satisfaction of a woman watching another woman come apart.

Anupama’s hands did not shift. Her grip on the right cheek held.

Samyuktha’s arms tightened around Preethi’s waist. Her chin pressed harder against Preethi’s shoulder blade.

The sound from the pillow came again. Longer this time. Broken into syllables that were not syllables. A low vowel that climbed and broke and climbed again, the pillow distorting it past recognition, the Telugu lilt turned into pure vibration.

Selvam pressed deeper. The rim stretched around the shaft. The oil ran warm between them. He could feel the walls of her asshole gripping him in rhythmic pulses, the muscle learning, the particular heat of a place that had never been touched now holding half his length inside it.

The sound from the pillow changed register. Higher. Thinner. A long open vowel that started at the back of Preethi’s throat and came out against the cotton as a single sustained note ...  *ooooaaaa* ...  broken and distorted, the pillow muffling the consonants that might have made it a word, turning it into something that sounded, to anyone listening, like pleasure.

Then the vowel broke apart and words came through.

“Stop.” Clear. Muffled but clear. The Telugu lilt sharp at the edges. “Stop, sir. I can’t. I can’t take it. Stop.”

The words landed in the room. Not the sounds from before ...  not the broken vowels, not the raw material of language. Words. Complete sentences. The particular architecture of a woman who had found the place where instinct met vocabulary and the vocabulary won.

Selvam pulled out.

“OMG are you ok?” Preethi took a breath, anf smiled finally.

“Ah yes… but sir, I think that’s my limit.”

Selvam brought her back up and caressed her.

Everyone else got a little scared and laughed and said maybe they will try that some other time.

The rest of the night they all slept naked with Selvam’s naked  body.

Chapter 166: Rao, You are Fired!

The cabinet office was cool and quiet. Morning light cut through the blinds in thin white lines across the polished desk. Selvam sat in his chair and waited.

His body carried the night. A specific fatigue in his shoulders, his lower back. The kind that came from sustained physical work and no sleep. He did not shift in the chair. He kept his hands flat on the desk. The brass nameplate caught the light: *Chief Minister Selvam Chandran. Union of Four States.*

Raghavendra Rao arrived at nine-fifteen. Right on time. The door opened, and Rao came through it with the particular walk of a man who believed the meeting was a formality. His silk veshti was fresh. His smile was practiced. He had trimmed his mustache that morning.

“Sir.” Rao folded his hands. The gold ring on his right hand caught the light. “Good morning. I trust you slept well.”

“Sit.” Selvam did not return the smile.

Rao sat. The leather chair creaked under him. He crossed one leg over the other, adjusted his veshti, and settled into the posture of a man who had delivered exactly what was expected of him and was waiting for the gratitude to arrive.

“Water?” Selvam asked.

“Thank you, sir.”

Selvam poured from the carafe. The water made a soft sound in the glass. He set it on the desk between them.

Rao took a small sip. Set the glass down. Waited.

“How did you source them?” Selvam asked.

The question landed flat. No ornament. No preamble. Just the thing itself, laid between them on the polished wood.

Rao’s mouth curved. The practiced smile widened by a fraction. He read it exactly as it was not intended.

“Sir.” He leaned forward. His voice dropped into the register of a man sharing trade secrets with an equal. “It’s a system. Has been for decades. Three major production houses control the pipeline across all four states. True Media is the largest. Then South Shore. Then Madras Arts.”

Selvam did not move. His hands stayed flat on the desk.

“Every actress who wants a role.” Rao’s fingers made a small, dismissive gesture. “They are made available. To producers first, then ministers, then financiers. In that order. The producers screen them. Test their... flexibility. Then they move up the chain.”

The word hung in the air. *Flexibility.* Rao did not rush past it. He let it sit. The way a man does when he is certain his audience understands the vernacular.

“It’s pragmatism, sir.” He took another sip of water. His throat worked. “The women are desperate. They want the roles. The roles want access. The access wants... ” He shrugged. One shoulder. The gesture of a man who had explained the same thing a hundred times to a hundred different men and never once been questioned for it. “It functions. Has functioned. For as long as anyone can remember.”

Selvam looked at him. Rao’s face was open. Comfortable. The face of a man who had operated inside an unspoken agreement for so long that the agreement had become invisible to him, like the air in the room.

“Desperate,” Selvam said.

“Yes.” Rao nodded. The gold ring flashed. “They come from small towns. No connections. No family money. Just the face and the body and the hope that someone will look twice. They are very, very willing, sir. You saw that yourself.”

The room was quiet. The air conditioner hummed behind the wall. A file sat on the corner of the desk, unopened.

Selvam picked up a pen. He did not write anything. He held it between his fingers and looked at the point.

Rao watched the pen. His smile held.

“You are dismissed from the cabinet,” Selvam said. “Effective immediately.”

The words landed. Clean. Flat. No rise in volume. No emphasis on any syllable.

Rao’s face did not change for three full seconds. The smile stayed. The eyes stayed. The posture stayed. Then something behind his eyes shifted, like a building whose foundation had just been removed but had not yet registered the absence of support.

“Sir?” The word came out thin. Higher than his normal voice. “I don’t... ”

“Leave your credentials with the secretary on the way out.”

Rao’s hands came up. Palms flat on the desk. The gold ring pressed into the wood. “Sir. This is a misunderstanding. The women were willing. All four of them. You saw that. You experienced that. They came freely. They left... ”

“They came because a system built on desperation told them this was the price.” Selvam set the pen down. “You are part of that system. I am the Chief Minister of the government that allowed that system to stand. That changes today.”

Rao stood. The chair scbangd backward. His veshti twisted around his legs. His face had gone dark, the blood rising under the skin in a flush that started at his collar and climbed to his hairline.

“You cannot do this.” His voice had lost all its practiced cadence. It came out raw, uneven, the voice of a man who had never been held accountable and did not recognize the sensation when it arrived. “I have relationships. Thirty years of relationships. You think the industry will function without me? You think those women will thank you for this? They wanted those roles. They wanted to be seen. They wanted... ”

“They wanted to act,” Selvam said. “Not to be accessed.”

Rao’s mouth opened. Closed. His hands clenched at his sides. The gold ring dug into his palm.

“Get out,” Selvam said.

Rao stood for another beat. His breath came in short pulls through his nose. Then he turned. His veshti swung. He walked to the door, pulled it open, and went through it without looking back. The door shut. The hinges did not squeak.

Selvam sat in the chair. The morning light had moved. It cut across the desk at a different angle now, catching the edge of the brass nameplate. The carafe of water sat between two empty glasses. Rao’s glass had a smudge on the rim where his lips had been.

The four women came willingly. They left satisfied. Selvam did not revise that fact. He had felt it in their bodies. In their voices. In the way Preethi had pressed her ass back against his cock and made sounds that no woman fakes because no woman knows how to fake that particular brokenness.

But the architecture Rao described sat behind it. A foundation of coercion that preceded him. A system that told desperate women their bodies were the toll on a road they had no choice but to travel.

He was the Chief Minister of the government that allowed that architecture to stand. The discomfort of that fact was specific. Unpleasant. It settled in his chest like a stone, and he did not try to dislodge it. He let it sit. Let it weigh.

The pen lay on the desk where he had set it down. He picked it up. Turned it in his fingers. The point was sharp. He set it down again.

The room was quiet. The air conditioner hummed. Outside the window, Chennai moved through its morning. Traffic. Horns. The distant sound of a temple bell.

Selvam reached for the phone.

He called Summer first. The phone rang twice. She answered on the third.

“Selvam.” Her voice was clear. Morning energy. No sleep in it.

“Set up a subsidiary.” Selvam held the receiver against his ear. His free hand tapped the desk. One finger. Steady. “Under Vanmmer’s corporate structure. Production company. Move capital into it immediately.”

“How much capital.”

“Enough to acquire three studios.”

A pause on the line. Two seconds. He could hear her breathing. The sound of a mind working fast.

“I’ll need the legal team,” she said.

“They’re next.” He looked at the clock on the wall. Nine forty-two. “The subsidiary needs a name by noon. Paperwork filed by end of day.”

“It’ll have both.” The confidence in her voice was absolute. No hesitation. No question. “Anything else?”

“No.”

“Done.”

The line went quiet. He set the receiver down. Picked it up again. Dialed.

His legal team answered on the first ring. Five attorneys. He put them on speaker. Their voices came through the box in overlapping layers until he cut through.

“True Media Production House.” Selvam’s voice filled the room. Flat. Clear. “I want it acquired. Not commercially. Regulatorily.”

Silence on the line. Then the lead attorney: “Explain, sir.”

“Emergency audit. Licensing agreements. Labor contracts. State subsidy receipts. Find the irregularities. There will be irregularities. Use them to trigger a compulsory share transfer under union commerce regulations.”

“Timeline.”

“Seventy-two hours.”

Another pause. Longer this time. He could hear papers shuffling on the other end. Keys clicking.

“We can do it,” the attorney said. “The audit will surface enough. The regulations are clear on compulsory transfer for pattern violations.”

“Move.”

The call ended. Selvam stood. His body felt the night again. The specific ache in his lower back. He ignored it. Walked to the window. Looked out at Chennai. The city moved below him. Traffic. Heat. Life.

The seventy-two hours passed in a series of physical moments.

He signed the audit order at his desk. The pen moved across the paper. His signature. Black ink.

He sat in the back of the car while his phone rang. The legal team. Irregular payments found. Contract violations. Sixteen actresses with identical non-disclosure clauses buried in paragraph forty-three of their third annex.

He stood at the window of his home office at two in the morning. The city dark below him. The phone against his ear. The lead attorney’s voice, tired but precise: “True Media’s board is meeting. They see the numbers. They’re not fighting.”

“Good.”

He slept for three hours. Woke. Dressed. The car took him back to the cabinet office.

The compulsory share transfer executed at eleven-seventeen on the third morning. A document arrived by courier. Selvam signed it without reading past the first paragraph. His signature. The date. The time.

True Media belonged to Vanmmer Productions.

The other two houses called within hours.

South Shore first. Their chairman. A man with a voice that tried too hard to sound relaxed. “Sir. We’ve been reviewing our compliance structure. We believe there may be opportunities for a mutually beneficial arrangement.”

“There’s one arrangement.” Selvam held the phone. His office was quiet. The blinds were half-closed. “Transfer. Voluntary. Clean. Or I audit you tomorrow.”

“We understand, sir.”

Madras Arts called that afternoon. Their legal team. Not their chairman. The lawyers spoke in the careful, hedged language of men who had already done the math and did not like the answer.

“The compulsory mechanism would be... ” The lawyer stopped. Started again. “We are prepared to negotiate a transfer.”

“No negotiation.” Selvam’s voice did not change. “The terms are the terms. Sign or don’t.”

They signed. Both of them. South Shore on the fourth day. Madras Arts on the fifth.

The paperwork consolidated on the seventh day. Three production houses. One holding structure. Vanmmer Productions, stamped across the top of every contract, every license, every subsidy form.

Selvam sat at his desk and looked at the final document. The consolidation summary. Seventeen pages. He turned to the last page. The signature line. His pen hovered above it for half a second. Then touched down. Black ink. His name. The date.

The weight of the pen in his hand was familiar. He had signed harder things. Rockets. Treaties. Budgets that moved billions.

This signature moved something else. A system. An architecture. A pipeline that had run unimpeded for decades, and now belonged to him.

He set the pen down. The document sat on the desk. The morning light had moved again. It caught the edge of the paper and turned the white to gold.

He reached for the phone a third time.

Yazhini sat across from him in the chair Rao had sat in three weeks earlier. The same morning light. The same desk. Different person entirely.

She was nineteen. Her hair was in a braid. A single jasmine tucked behind her ear. She wore a cotton salwar, pressed and simple. Her hands rested in her lap. Not folded. Just resting.

Selvam told her everything. The words came out clean. No euphemism. No ornament. He told her what Rao had described. The three production houses. The pipeline. The actresses made available. The word *desperate*. He did not soften it. He did not pace it. He laid the architecture between them on the polished wood and waited.

Yazhini listened. Her eyes did not leave his face. She did not fidget. She did not look at the door. She sat perfectly still and took in every word the way a person takes in weather ...  not as something to judge, but as something to prepare for.

When he finished, the room was quiet. The air conditioner hummed.

“I want you to go through the casting records,” Selvam said. “Every actress who received a role under the previous ownership. I want you to identify who was required to provide access to whom. As a condition of their career.”

Yazhini nodded. Once. Her braid moved against her shoulder. The jasmine did not fall.

“You understand what the assignment means,” he said.

“Yes, aththaan.” Her voice was quiet. Clear. No tremor in it. “I understand.”

“It will not be pleasant.”

“I know.”

He looked at her. Really looked. Nineteen. ***** girl. Conservative upbringing. Daughter of a man who ogled women at community functions and called it cultural appreciation. She had spent her life in rooms adjacent to power. She knew what it smelled like. What it cost.

“You’re CEO of Vanmmer Productions,” he said. “Effective immediately. The appointment is not ceremonial.”

She did not smile. She did not thank him. She nodded again. The same single motion. Precise.

“I’ll need a team,” she said.

“You’ll have it.”

She stood. The salwar whispered around her legs. She turned and walked to the door. Her spine was straight. Her braid hung between her shoulder blades. The jasmine caught the light as she moved.

This is the true empowerment Vanitha wanted for Yazhini.

The door shut behind her. The hinges did not squeak.

Three weeks passed.

Yazhini worked out of a corner office on the top floor of the Vanmmer building. Selvam checked in twice. He did not micromanage. He stood in the doorway and looked at the whiteboards covered in names, dates, contract clauses highlighted in yellow. Lawyers moved through the space. A confidential reporting line rang at all hours. Actresses called. They talked. Yazhini listened. She took notes in a notebook with a blue cover. Her handwriting was small and neat.

The list grew. Selvam could see it from the doorway. The columns. The names that appeared across multiple rows. The pattern emerging in black ink on white paper.

On the twenty-second day, Yazhini called him. Her voice was steady. “It’s ready.”

He went to her office. She stood beside her desk. The blue notebook was open. The list was typed now, formatted, three pages long. She handed it to him without commentary.

He read it standing.

The names were there. Producers. Directors. Financiers. Ministers. Some he recognized. Some he did not. The pattern was too consistent to be coincidence. The same names appearing across multiple actresses’ accounts. The same dates. The same venues. The same clauses buried in paragraph forty-three.

He turned to the second page. More names. More dates. The third page. More.

The list was longer than he had anticipated. Considerably longer. He had expected ten, fifteen names. There were forty-seven.

He set the pages down on her desk. The paper made a soft sound against the wood.

“Terminate every contract,” he said. “Every production deal. Every government affiliation. Attached to every name on this list. No exceptions. No press conference.”

Yazhini nodded. The same single motion. Precise.

“The HR structure is already built,” she said. “I built it the first week. It can handle the volume.”

He believed her. He could see it in the way she stood. In the blue notebook. In the whiteboards covered in her small, neat handwriting.

The terminations processed through the following week. Forty-seven names. Forty-seven contracts severed. Forty-seven production deals dissolved. Forty-seven government affiliations revoked. The paperwork moved through Vanmmer’s new HR department in stacks. Yazhini signed each termination herself. Her signature was smaller than his. Neater. No flourish.

The industry understood before any statement was made. The silence from the usual quarters of complaint was its own confirmation. No lawsuits. No public denials. No op-eds about overreach. Just quiet. The particular quiet of men who have been caught in a pattern too well-documented to deny and too consistent to explain away.

Selvam stood in Yazhini’s office on the seventh day. The termination paperwork was complete. The blue notebook sat closed on her desk. The whiteboards had been wiped clean.

“Rebuild it,” he said. “The casting process. Clean contracts. Open auditions. Whatever resources you need.”

“I will,” Yazhini said.

He believed her. He could see it in her face. In the set of her shoulders. In the way the jasmine behind her ear had wilted slightly over the course of the day but she had not removed it.

She was nineteen. CEO of a production company that had just dismantled a system decades in the making. Her hands rested on the desk. Not folded. Just resting.

The morning light came through the window behind her. It caught the edge of the blue notebook and turned the cover pale. Outside, Chennai moved through its day. Traffic. Horns. The distant sound of something being built, or something being taken apart, or both at once.

Selvam turned and walked to the door. His body felt the weight of the three weeks. The specific fatigue of sustained attention. He did not shift his shoulders. He kept his spine straight. The way Yazhini kept hers.

The door shut behind him. The hinges did not squeak.

That night Yazhini and Selvam went to Yazhini’s parents house to spend the night.

Cinema and politics are the most worst industries. They won't leave Yazhini that easy.

Chapter 167: A week at the in-laws' house

Filter coffee steamed on the table. Rangam stood at the stove, wooden spoon in hand, stirring the pot with the brisk authority she applied to everything. Morning light cut through the kitchen window in a clean white line across the countertop.

Selvam and Yazhini came downstairs together. Her braid hung loose down her back. His hand rested at the small of her waist, warm through the thin cotton of her salwar.

“Good morning,” Yazhini said.

Rangam turned. Her eyes moved over them, taking in the new geometry of her daughter beside her husband. 3 months have passed since the wedding. The household rhythm had recalibrated around it. Her son-in-law is also the Chief Minister of entire south India.

“Coffee’s poured,” Rangam said. She wiped her hands on her apron. “Please sit.”

Moorthy sat at the head of the table. His mustache was freshly trimmed. He raised his coffee cup in salute.

“Chief Minister,” he said. The old teasing in his voice. “Sleep well?”

“Fine,” Selvam said. He pulled out a chair for Yazhini, then sat beside her.

Rangam set down four plates. Toast. Butter. A small bowl of jam. She did not sit. She stood with one hand on her hip, the wooden spoon still in the other, and looked at Selvam across the table.

“How,” she said, “can you trust a nineteen-year-old with the CEO title of a production company that spans four states?”

The question landed flat. The kitchen went quiet. The stove hissed behind her.

Selvam reached for his coffee. He took a sip. Set the cup down.

“She’s capable,” he said.

Rangam’s eyebrow went up. The wooden spoon tapped against her palm.

Yazhini laughed. The sound was warm, unguarded. She picked up a piece of toast and reached for the butter.

“His team does all the actual work,” she said. The butter knife moved in smooth strokes. “I’m there because he needed someone in the chair he could trust completely.” She looked up at her mother. “The title is the point. Not the function.”

“Well Vanitha always believed Yazhini is capable if bigger things.” Selvam looked at Yazhini.

Rangam’s mouth softened. The spoon stopped tapping.

Moorthy’s laugh filled the kitchen. Loud. Booming. His belly shook under the silk shirt. “Smart girl,” he said. “Smarter than her father.”

“Vanitha is smart as well, if she thought Yazhini is capable and I won’t deny it.” Rangam added.

“Ever since Vanitha became my daughter-in-law, a lot of things changed, not just for me, for nations.” Selvam said proudly.

The tension released. Rangam set the spoon down and finally took her seat. The four of them around the table. Coffee steam rising between them.

Yazhini’s hand found Selvam’s under the table. Her fingers were warm. He squeezed once.

“I want to take her shopping today,” Selvam said. His voice was casual. “Something private. Unhurried. Husband and wife errand.”

Yazhini’s head turned. Her eyes met his. Something passed between them. Quick. Private.

“I’ll come along,” Moorthy announced. He set his coffee down with a clatter. “Excellent timing. I need a new veshti. The one with the gold border. You know the shop near Pondy Bazaar? They know me there. Family discount.”

Rangam’s expression cycled. Her mouth opened. Closed. Her eyes moved from Moorthy to Selvam to Yazhini and back to Moorthy. The wooden spoon was still in her hand. She set it down carefully on the tablecloth.

“You,” she said to Moorthy, “are not going shopping with them.”

“Why not? I need a veshti.”

“It’s private,” Rangam said. “Husband and wife. He said it plainly.”

“What’s private about a veshti shop? They have curtains.”

Yazhini pressed her lips together. Her shoulders shook once.

Selvam watched Rangam’s face. He had seen this expression before. The particular progression of a woman who had married a cheerful, oblivious man and learned, over decades, that some battles were not worth the ammunition.

Rangam sighed. The sound was long. Resigned.

“It’s ok, I love the company, we can make it a family thing.” Selvam said.

“Fine,” she said. “I’ll come along. Since someone needs to keep you from embarrassing us all.”

Moorthy beamed. “Perfect. Family outing.”

“Not an outing,” Rangam said. “Damage control.”

Yazhini’s hand was still under the table. Selvam felt her thumb trace a small circle on his palm. Her eyes were bright.

“Finish your coffee,” Rangam said. She stood and gathered the empty plates. “We leave in twenty minutes.”

The morning light had moved. It caught the edge of Selvam’s coffee cup and turned the ceramic pale gold. Outside, Chennai moved through its morning. Traffic. Horns. The distant sound of a temple bell.

Yazhini’s fingers tightened around his. Once. Then released.

The boutique sat on a quiet lane. Thick curtains in the windows. A single bell above the door that chimed soft when they entered.

The saleswoman looked up from her counter. Mid-forties. Sharp eyes. She took in the four of them... Moorthy in his strained silk shirt, Rangam with her practical energy, Yazhini’s braid and jasmine, Selvam’s calm authority... and understood within seconds.

“Private fitting area,” she said. No question. She gestured toward the back. “This way.”

The fitting area was small. A bench against the wall. Three curtained rooms. Soft lighting. The air smelled of sandalwood and clean cotton.

Selvam stood beside a display of lace. His hand moved over the fabrics without touching. Certain. Deliberate.

“The ivory set,” he said. “With the thin straps. And something in red. The cut that sits high on the hip.”

Yazhini’s cheeks went dark. She stared at the floor. Her fingers twisted in the end of her braid.

Moorthy examined a price tag with great concentration. His mustache twitched. He set the tag down and moved to a different rack.

“The ivory would suit her skin,” Selvam continued. His voice was even. The voice he used for board meetings. “The red for contrast. Something in black as well. The balcony style.”

The saleswoman nodded. She pulled sets from shelves with efficient hands. Ivory. Red. Black. She held them up for inspection.

“These will fit,” she said. “The young lady is small through the ribcage. The cups will need adjusting.”

Rangam stepped forward. She took the sets from the saleswoman’s hands and turned to Yazhini.

“Come,” she said. Practical. Firm. “Let’s get you sorted.”

She steered Yazhini into the first fitting room. The curtain closed behind them with a soft rustle.

Selvam sat on the bench. Moorthy sat beside him. The bench was narrow. Their shoulders touched.

Moorthy cleared his throat. He looked at the ceiling. The acoustic tiles. The recessed lighting. He studied them with the focus of a man conducting a survey.

From behind the curtain: “The straps are too tight.”

“Adjust them,” Rangam said. “Like this.”

A pause. Fabric sounds.

“Better?”

“Much better.” Yazhini’s voice, lighter now. “The red one next.”

More fabric sounds. The curtain rustled.

“Athaan?” Yazhini called. “The red fits. But the back is lower than I thought.”

“Good,” Selvam said. His voice carried through the curtain. “That’s the point.”

Moorthy shifted on the bench. He crossed his legs. Uncrossed them. Crossed them again.

“The black one now,” Rangam said.

Silence from the fitting room. Then Yazhini’s voice, lower, directed at her mother.

“Amma. You should try something too.”

A beat. The curtain went still.

“What?” Rangam’s voice. Sharp.

“The saleswoman has been looking at you since we walked in.” Yazhini’s voice was matter-of-fact. “The ivory set on the second shelf. It would suit you exactly.”

“I am not trying on lingerie in a shop with my son-in-law six feet away.”

“Thirty seconds of protest,” Selvam said to Moorthy. Quiet.

Moorthy nodded without looking away from the ceiling.

“Amma, please.” Yazhini’s voice softened. “Just look at it.”

The saleswoman appeared. She held the ivory set. Lace. Thin straps. She offered it to the curtain with a professional smile.

The curtain parted. Rangam’s hand emerged. She took the set. The curtain closed.

Moorthy’s mustache twitched. He examined a water stain on the ceiling tile with newfound interest.

Rangam emerged from the first fitting room and the saleswoman showed her into the second fitting room.

From the second fitting room: “This is ridiculous.”

“Just try it, Amma.”

Fabric sounds. A zipper. The curtain rustled.

Selvam sat on the bench. His hands rested on his knees. The boutique was quiet. The sandalwood scent pressed against the back of his throat.

“Athaan?” Yazhini’s voice from the first room. “Can you come check the fit? The black one.”

Selvam stood. He pushed through the curtain of the nearest fitting room.

He stopped.

Rangam stood at the mirror. The ivory lace bra sat against her skin. The straps crossed her shoulder blades. Her Trisha-like figure at forty-three filled the cups with the unhurried, luminous ease of a woman who had taken care of her body for decades. Her waist was narrow. Her hips curved. The lace caught the soft light and held it.

She turned. Their eyes met in the mirror.

The silence was three things at once. Shock. The specific recognition of something that could not be unseen. And beneath both, barely suppressed, the awareness that the last time they had been alone in a small room... his divorce night, her hand on his back, the particular warmth of a comfort that had crossed a line neither of them had ever named... the outcome was not something either had spoken of since.

Rangam’s hands moved. She crossed her arms over the bra. The gesture was composed. Dignified. The dignity of a woman who had survived more complicated mornings than this one.

Selvam had walked into the wrong fitting room, as he wasn’t looking when Rangam came back outside to get his lingerie.

His eyes took her in before his mind could intervene. The ivory lace sat against skin that had no business being that luminous at forty-three. The cups were full... not straining, not apologetic, simply full... and the lace stretched across the upper curve of each breast with the quiet authority of fabric that had met its intended purpose. The straps crossed her shoulder blades in a clean X, and below them the muscles of her back moved as she turned, the same disciplined architecture he had seen in Yazhini’s posture but deepened by decades, the scapulae shifting under skin that caught the soft light and held it like something oiled.

Her waist was narrow. He had known this about her... he had sat across dinner tables from her, watched her move through kitchens and prayer rooms... but knowing it was not the same as seeing it framed by the ivory lace bra and panties and nothing in between, where it cut high across her ribs and then dropped to the narrowest point before the curve of her hips began. The hips were what arrested him. Round. Full. The kind of hips that filled a saree with the particular ease of a woman who had never dieted them away because she had never needed to. The ivory lace sat low on them, the waistband cutting across the crease where her waist met her hip, and the skin below the lace was smooth and warm-toned and entirely bare.

She was not wearing the matching bottoms. The ivory set had come with a thong, and it sat on the small shelf beside the mirror, still folded, untouched.

“Please,” she said. Her voice was steady. “Go back outside.”

He did not move. His feet were planted on the thin carpet of the fitting room, and the distance between him and the mirror was approximately four feet, and the distance between the mirror and Rangam was approximately two, and the arithmetic of it was simple and irrelevant because his body had not received the instruction to leave.

“Selvam.” Her voice dropped half a register. Not the steady please from before. Something flatter. The voice she used when Moorthy had done something that required correction in a room full of guests. “Go.”

“I’m going.” His mouth said it. His feet did not.

Her arms tightened across her chest. The ivory lace shifted under the pressure, and the upper curve of her right breast pressed against the inside of her forearm, and he saw it, and he did not look away fast enough, and she saw him not looking away fast enough.

“The next room,” she said. “Yazhini is in the next room.”

“I know which room.”

“Do you.”

He heard the edge in it. The particular sharpness of a woman who had watched him walk through the wrong curtain and had not yet decided whether the wrongness was accidental or deliberate, and the not-deciding was costing her something.

“The curtain moved,” he said. “I didn’t see which one.”

“Mm.” The sound was not agreement. It was the sound of a woman filing a piece of information for later examination. Her eyes held his in the mirror. She had not turned around.

The memory arrived before he could stop it.

Twenty-five years. The converted fitness center in his home. The small room at the back where they kept the free weights. He remembered her naked body when she was 19.

Now her breasts had been heavier than... she had been younger, the tissue firmer, the nipples darker against skin that had not yet learned to hold the light the way it held it now. Her waist had been the same. Narrow. The same geometry. Her hips had been the same too, the same roundness, the same way they curved out from the narrowest point of her waist and then dropped to the full swell of her ass. He had pressed his hands into that curve. He remembered the warmth of it. The give. The way she had arched into him and made a sound that was not a word.

Her stomach had been flat. It was flat now. Twenty-five years and a child and the stomach was still flat, the skin still taut where the ivory lace cut across it, and the muscle underneath was the same disciplined architecture it had always been.

“Please go.” She begged in a whisper.

Selvam turned. He pushed through the curtain.

Moorthy looked up from the ceiling. His eyebrows furrowed.

Selvam walked to the next fitting room. He pushed through the curtain.

Yazhini stood at the mirror in the black set. The straps crossed her bare back. The lace sat high on her hips. She turned when he entered, her eyes bright, the jasmine still tucked behind her ear.

“What do you think?” she asked.

“Perfect,” he said.

Behind them, through the thin wall, they heard the rustle of the second curtain. Rangam stepped out. Fully dressed. Her salwar pressed. Her chin high.

Moorthy stared. His eyes moved from Rangam to the curtain Selvam had just come through. His mustache twitched.

“Did you just... ” he began.

“Yes, your friend thought I am Yazhini and he walked in.”

“What? What did he see, did he... .” he trailed off.

“And that’s exactly why I said, we should have left them go shopping privately.” Rangam hissed at Moorthy.

Selvam and Yazhini came out of the fitting room interrupting.

“We’re taking all three,” Selvam called to the saleswoman. His voice filled the boutique. “The ivory. The red. The black. All three sets.”

The bell above the door chimed. Soft. Final.

Outside, Chennai heat pressed against the windows. Traffic moved in the lane. A temple bell rang distantly. The four of them stood in the boutique light, the packages in Rangam’s practical hands, and something between laughter and relief moved through the space between them.

Moorthy adjusted his veshti. He looked at the ceiling one last time, as if it might offer an explanation, and found none.

“Excellent shopping,” he said to no one in particular. “Very productive.”

Rangam’s hand found his elbow. She squeezed. Once. Hard.

“Home,” she said.

They walked out into the heat together.

Chapter 168: Through the Wall

# Scene 1

The morning settled into the house. Kitchen light warm against the tile. Dishes stacked in the sink. Rangam stood with her back to the room, drying a steel tumbler with methodical hands.

Yazhini’s voice carried from the study. Excited. Words about production schedules and casting grids. The phone pressed to her ear, CEO mode engaged, the same cadence her mother used when something mattered.

Moorthy was gone. Chess club. Tuesday mornings.

Selvam leaned against the counter. His shoulder touched the cabinet. The distance between him and Rangam’s back was three feet. He had measured rooms his whole life. This one felt smaller than the numbers said.

“I’m sorry about the fitting room.” The words came out clean. No ornament.

Rangam set the tumbler down. Metal on tile. A soft sound. She did not turn. Her hands found the next dish.

“I know it was an accident.” Her voice was even. The same evenness she used when she told Moorthy the milk was spoiling. “I’m not angry.”

Water ran in the sink. Steam rose. She turned off the tap.

“I’ve been carrying two things since the wedding.” She dried her hands on the towel. Still facing the sink. “Pride in my daughter. And the specific, private knowledge of what your hands feel like.”

The kitchen was quiet. The refrigerator hummed.

“Twenty-three years I’ve held that sealed.” She turned the towel on its hook. “The ivory fitting room cracked it open without warning.”

Selvam did not move. His hands rested on the counter edge.

“And the fact that I tasted your semen.” She said it the way she said grocery lists. Plain. Clear. “Telling myself that was the line I drew. There would be nothing more.”

She turned. Finally. Her Trisha-like face caught the kitchen light. Forty-three. The same luminous architecture.

“I’m not asking for anything.” Her hands settled at her sides. “I’m naming the fact. I’ve learned from watching Yazhini. Unnamed facts become emergencies.”

He nodded. Once. The full attention he gave everything that mattered.

“The morning in the fitness center.” His voice was low. “I’ve carried that too. Not as regret.”

He paused. The right words. Always the right words.

“As the particular tenderness of a first that mattered and was then correctly set aside.”

Rangam’s mouth softened. The corner. Barely.

“I don’t want to damage what’s been built.” He looked at her directly. “The marriage. Yazhini’s trust. The careful peace Moorthy inhabits without knowing it needs protecting.”

“After we had sex when I was nineteen,” Rangam said, “I forgot everything when I married Moorthy at twenty-three.”

She picked up the coffee filter. Began the ritual. Coffee powder. Water. The slow pour.

“I don’t want to damage it either.” The coffee dripped. Dark. Steady. “The ivory lingerie is going back to the store.”

Selvam smiled. The left corner. Warm.

“You look real good in it.” He reached for a coffee cup. “Like Trisha. You should wear it for Moorthy.”

She turned. Looked at him directly. The Trisha-like face carrying everything it had always held.

“I’m glad my daughter married a man who knows the difference between the right decision and the easy one.”

The coffee finished dripping. She poured two cups. Handed him one. Their fingers did not touch.

Yazhini’s voice stopped. The study door opened. Feet on the stairs. Light. Quick.

She came into the kitchen. Her braid swung. Her cheeks were flushed from the call.

“Coffee?” Rangam asked.

“Yes.” Yazhini sat beside Selvam. His hand found hers on the table. Covered it. The simple, habitual gesture of a husband.

Rangam watched from across the table. Composed. Luminous. Nothing in her expression to read.

“Madras Arts wants to start with two films,” Yazhini said. “One Tamil, one Telugu. The Tamil director has a script.”

Selvam sipped his coffee. The filter warmth pressed against his throat.

“He wants me to find the lead.” Yazhini’s fingers tightened under his. “A young entrepreneur who builds something big. Older version too. The same actor playing both.”

“Hard role,” Selvam said.

“Not really.” Her eyes were bright. “Athaan, I think you should do it.”

He laughed. The sound filled the kitchen. Warm. Dismissive.

“I’m serious.” She leaned into his shoulder. “The director described the character and I thought... that’s you. Exactly.”

“I have a rocket company,” Selvam said. “Four states to run.”

“One film. Two months of shooting. Split schedule.”

“Your husband has a world to save,” Rangam said from across the table. Her voice was light. The edge of a smile. “And won’t have time for mild entertainment.”

Yazhini’s mouth opened. Closed. She looked at her mother, then back at Selvam.

“I’ll think about it,” he said.

The gesture his wife made when she wanted something she knew he would give her.

# Scene 2

Rangam wiped the counter one last time. Her movements were slower now. Evening rhythm.

Selvam stood from the table. His chair scbangd against the tile. Yazhini rose beside him, her hand finding his under the tablecloth.

“We’ll head up,” he said.

Moorthy looked up. Steam rose. His eyes moved from Selvam to Yazhini and back. The mustache twitched.

“Goodnight,” Yazhini said. She leaned down, kissed her father’s cheek. The jasmine behind her ear brushed his temple.

They walked upstairs together. Their footsteps on the wooden treads. Light. Synchronized.

Moorthy’s eyes followed them to the landing. The expression on his face was specific. Pained. Wordless.

Rangam watched from the sink. She set the dishcloth down. Wiped her hands on her hips.

“They’re married,” she said. Her voice was even. “Your daughter is a wife.”

“I know what a wife is.” Moorthy set his cup down. The china clinked. “I am not ready to hear the sounds of it.”

“Deal with it.” Rangam’s mouth curved. The left corner. Warm. “Or sleep in the living room.”

Moorthy sighed. The sound was long. Resigned. He pushed his chair back and stood.

Yazhini’s bedroom door shut. The latch clicked. Soft.

The room was the same. The bed with its white sheets. The dresser against the wall. The small altar in the corner with its brass lamps. They had spent their wedding night here. First time. Everything new.

Selvam stood at the window. The night pressed against the glass. Chennai heat. Distant traffic.

The bathroom door opened behind him.

He turned.

Yazhini stood in the doorway. Nothing but red. The lace bra sat high on her breasts. Thin straps crossed her shoulders. The panties cut low on her hips. The garter belt wrapped her waist, four straps running down to black stockings that ended mid-thigh.

His mouth opened. Closed. The nineteen-year-old body decorated in red lace stopped his breath where it stood.

She walked toward him. Her hips moved. The stockings whispered against each other. Her breasts sat firm under the cups. The nipples pressed against the lace. Visible. Hard.

She stopped in front of him. Her arms went around his neck. Her body pressed against his chest. Warm through the cotton of his shirt. The red lace was cool where it touched his skin.

Her mouth found his ear. Her breath was warm. Jasmine and toothpaste.

“Do I look better than my mom in lingerie?”

The question landed. Clean. Direct. Her lips moved against his earlobe.

Selvam’s hands froze on her waist. The red lace was smooth under his thumbs.

“Yazhini.” His voice came out lower than he intended. “What are you saying?”

She pulled back. Looked at his face. Her eyes were bright. Challenging. The smirk sat at the left corner of her mouth.

“I know you went into her fitting room.” Her hands stayed on his shoulders.

Next door, the bed creaked. Rangam and Moorthy settling in. The wall was plaster. Thin. Old Chennai construction. Every sound carried.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” Selvam’s hands tightened on her waist. The lace pressed into his palms.

“You saw her in the ivory set, didn’t you?” Yazhini’s thumb traced his collarbone. Slow. Deliberate. “In the fitness room.”

Selvam paused. The conflation was intentional. She knew about both incidents and was mixing them deliberately. Testing.

“Yes,” he said.

Next door, Moorthy’s voice came through. Muffled. “Rangam. What are they talking about?”

A pause. Then Rangam’s voice, low, meant only for Moorthy: “She is being naughty.”

Moorthy made a sound. Half surprise, half discomfort. The bed creaked as he shifted.

“That’s not what I... ” Selvam started.

Yazhini’s hand covered his mouth. Her palm was warm. The red nails pressed against his lower lip.

“Tell me.” Her eyes held his. “Tell me what you saw. Every part.”

He pulled her hand away. Held it. Her fingers were small in his palm.

“Her back.” The words came out quiet. Careful. “The straps crossed her shoulder blades. The ivory against her skin. The muscle underneath. Dense. The kind that comes from twenty years of carrying things.”

Yazhini’s breath caught. Her fingers tightened around his.

“Her waist.” His free hand found the curve of her own waist. The red lace. “Narrow. The way yours is. But hers has a different architecture. Decades in it. The muscle sits deeper.”

Next door, the bed went very still.

“Her hips.” His thumb traced the curve of her hip through the lace. “Round. Full. The ivory cut across them. Low. The skin below the lace was bare. Smooth.”

Yazhini stepped closer. Her breasts pressed against his chest. The lace was cool. Her nipples hard through the fabric.

“Her breasts.” His voice dropped. “Full. Heavy. The ivory stretched across them. The cups were the right size. No strain. Just full.”

“Fuller than mine?” Her question came out fast. Breathless.

Selvam looked down at her. The red bra cupped her small breasts. Perfect. Nineteen. The nipples pressed against the lace.

“Yes.” The word was simple. Clean. “Fuller.” His hand covered one breast through the lace. His palm was warm. “These are perfect. Smaller, the way daddy likes.”

Through the wall, a sound. Small. Muffled. A hand covering a mouth. Rangam’s.

Yazhini’s eyes widened. She looked at the wall. Then back at Selvam. The smirk returned. Full force.

Yazhini’s hands found his shirt. The buttons. The top one came loose. Cool air touched his throat.

“Keep going.” Her voice was low. Huskier. “I want to hear the rest.”

# Scene 3

Yazhini turned. Gathered her hair over one shoulder. The red straps crossed her bare back. The clasp sat between her shoulder blades, two small hooks.

Selvam found them with his thumbs. Warm skin. The metal was cool. He worked the first hook free. A small click.

The second hook gave. The band sprang open across her shoulder blades. The straps slid down her arms. The cups fell away.

Her breasts dropped into his waiting palms. Small. Firm. The nipples were already hard. His thumbs found them. Circles. Slow.

“Are they smaller than my mother’s?” Her voice carried through the wall. Clear. Unflinching.

“Yes.” His thumbs pressed. The nipples hardened further. “Hers were fuller. Heavy. These... ” He squeezed gently. “These are perfect. I like them smaller.”

Next door, Rangam’s eyes closed. Her hand stayed over her mouth.

Yazhini looked over her shoulder. Her hair fell across her cheek. “And my ass? Does it look like Amma’s?”

Selvam’s hands settled on her hips. The red lace panties sat high. His thumbs traced the curve where waist met ass.

“Hers is fuller.” His voice was low. Steady. “Yours is higher. Tighter.”

He smacked her ass once through the panties. The crack was sharp. Clean. It bounced off the plaster wall.

Next door, Moorthy startled. His body jerked against the mattress. “What was that?” His whisper was urgent. Muffled against Rangam’s palm.

Rangam did not answer. Her eyes were closed. Her hand tightened on Moorthy’s wrist.

Selvam hooked his thumbs in the waistband of the panties. The elastic stretched. He peeled them down over the curve of her ass. Slow. The lace dragged against skin. He left them stretched mid-thigh. The red fabric framing the bare curve of her.

Yazhini pushed back into his palms. Her ass pressed against his hands. Warm. Bare. The lace tight around her thighs.

“Now you can see it properly.” Her voice had dropped. Lower. Huskier. “Is it like hers or not?”

“Not like hers.” His palms cupped her ass cheeks. Full. Round. The skin warm under his hands. “Yours is a girl’s. Hers is a woman’s.”

Next door, Rangam’s breath caught. A small sound escaped behind her hand.

Selvam smacked the bare cheek. Once. The sound was wet. Skin on skin. The second slap came harder. It echoed. The wall carried it.

“Rangam.” Moorthy’s voice was thin. Confused. “That sound again. Are they fighting?”

Rangam kept her palm over her lips. She shook her head. Her free hand found Moorthy’s wrist. Held it. Not to silence him. To hold something steady.

Yazhini stepped out of the panties. The red lace pooled at her ankles. She kicked it aside.

The garter belt remained. Four straps. Eight little metal hooks. The red lace sat high on her hips. The stockings were sheer. Black. They caught the bedroom light.

Selvam reached for the front-left hook. His fingers found the metal. Popped it free. A small click. The strap went slack.

Front-right next. Same motion. The hook gave. The stocking loosened around her thigh.

He rolled the first stocking down. His palms against her skin. Warm. Smooth. The nylon whispered as it came free. He rolled it to her ankle. She stepped out.

The second stocking followed. His hands moved slower. His thumbs traced the inside of her thigh. The nylon gathered at her knee. Then her ankle. She stepped out.

He reached behind her. Found the back-left hook. Popped it. The strap fell.

Back-right. The last hook. The metal clicked. The final strap went slack.

He rolled the third stocking down. His hands on her calf. The muscle tight under his palms. The nylon whispered. He rolled it to her ankle. She lifted her foot.

The fourth stocking. He took his time. His palm flat against her thigh. The nylon warm from her skin. He rolled it down. Slow. Deliberate. Her foot came free.

She arched. Presented her whole ass to him. Bare. The garter belt empty around her waist. The red lace a frame for nothing.

“Tell me the truth, Athaan.” Her voice was rough. “When you walked in on her, was her ass better than this?”

Selvam was quiet. A beat. Two.

“I am not ranking your mother against you.”

“You already did.” She looked back over her shoulder. Her eyes were dark. Challenging. “You said fuller. Say the rest.”

“Hers sits heavier.” His hands cupped her ass. His thumbs pressed into the crease. “Yours I could hold in both hands and still have room.”

Next door, Rangam turned her face into the pillow. Her hand stayed over her mouth. Her breath came fast against the cotton.

Selvam unhooked the garter belt at the side. The whole empty belt dropped to the floor. A soft sound.

He smacked her ass again. Harder. The sound slapped the shared wall. Skin on skin. Wet. Sharp.

“Rangam.” Moorthy’s voice trembled. “What is he doing to her?”

Rangam took her hand off her mouth. Just long enough. Her voice came out quiet. Even. The voice of a woman naming a fact.

“He is slapping her bottom, Moorthy. That is the sound.”

Moorthy went still. His body rigid beside her. “Her... he is hitting our daughter?”

“Not hitting.” Rangam’s hand found his. Squeezed. “Teaching. Girls love that, if the man knows how.” She covered her mouth again. “I am glad Selvam is teaching her.”

Selvam laid Yazhini on the bed. On her back. The white sheets under her. Her body bare except for the memory of red.

He bent between her legs. His mouth found her cunt. Warm. Wet already. His tongue pressed flat against her clit. Circles. Slow.

She arched. Her hands found his hair. Gripped. “Athaan.”

He worked her open with his mouth and two fingers. His tongue on her clit. His fingers inside her. Curling. Finding the spot. Her pussy gripped his fingers. Wet. Tight. Getting wetter.

“Fuck.” The word came out broken. “I’m ready. Please.”

He positioned himself. The head of his cock pressed against her entrance. Warm. Slick. He pushed. Slow. Full.

She took him. Inch by inch. Her back arched. Her hands clawed at the sheets. “Athaan. Uncle. Sir.”

He fucked her slow. Deep. Each thrust drove to the root. His hips met hers. The bedframe creaked. The sound carried through the wall.

Yazhini moaned his name. Loud. Unashamed. “Selvam. Sir. You’re fucking me so good. So hard. I can’t... ”

The wall carried every word. Every sound. The wet slap of skin. The creak of the frame. Her voice climbing. Breaking. Climbing again.

He turned her onto her knees. Doggy. Her ass up. Her back arched. The position presented her completely. Her cunt wet and open. Her asshole small. Pink. Clenched tight. Nineteen years old.

He stared at it. The memory of Preethi’s asshole surfaced. Oil-slick. Stretched around his cock. The particular heat of it. The way she had come apart.

His cock throbbed. The interest was there. Strong. He wanted it.

He would not take it. Not tonight. Not with her. Too tight. Too young. The wrong first.

Yazhini looked back over her shoulder. Her hair stuck to her cheek. Sweat gleamed on her spine.

“You keep staring there.” Her voice was rough. Used.

He did not answer. His hands gripped her hips. Thumbs pressing into the crease where ass met thigh.

He smacked her ass. Once. Mid-thrust. The crack echoed. The wall carried it.

He kept his cock in her cunt. Deep. Full. His rhythm built. Harder. Faster. The bedframe hammered against the wall. The wet sound filled the room.

“Fuck me, my Honorable Cheif Minister, fuck me.. I am yours.”

He fucked her, just like a Chief Minister would, with authority.

Yazhini came. Loud. Raw. Her voice broke into something that was not language. Her pussy clenched around his cock in pulses he could feel in his spine.

He came with her. Deep. His hips pressed forward and held. The first pulse hit the back of her pussy. The second. The third. He stayed buried. His hands tight on her hips. His breath ragged against her shoulder.

The room went quiet. The wet sound faded. The bedframe settled. Yazhini’s breathing came in long, broken pulls. Her face pressed into the pillow.

Next door, the silence was different. Rangam’s hand still covered her mouth. Her eyes were open in the dark. Moorthy lay beside her, perfectly still, his mustache quivering slightly with each breath.

The temple bell rang distantly. Once. Twice. The sound carried through the night air and into the open window and across the plaster wall that had carried everything.

Rangam’s hand finally came away from her lips. She exhaled. Long. Slow. The sound of a woman who had heard something she could not unhear and had chosen, deliberately, to let it settle where it landed.

Moorthy turned his head. Looked at her in the dark. His eyes were wide. Confused. Awake.

“Go to sleep,” Rangam whispered.

He did not argue. He turned onto his side. Faced the wall. His back to her.

Rangam lay on her back. Her hand found the sheet. Gripped it. The cotton was cool under her fingers. The ceiling was dark above her. Nothing to see. Nothing to read.

She listened to the silence from next door. The particular quiet of two people who had finished and were now breathing together in the dark.

Her hand moved to her own mouth. Covered it again. Not to silence anything. To hold something in.
