Chapter 23: The Condition

I was lying on the bed, my whole body burning like someone had put coal inside my bones. The fever was not going down, even after Amma had given me medicine and put wet cloth on my forehead. My head was pounding, thud-thud-thud, like someone was hitting it with a small hammer from inside.

But I could not sleep.

Through the thin walls of our old house, I could hear voices coming from the hall. Ravi's voice was low and smooth, like always. Amma's voice was higher, nervous, hesitant. And Appa's voice... well, Appa was just making some drunken sounds, barely able to speak properly.

I turned my head on the pillow. The room was dark, only a little light coming from the hall through the gap under my door. I knew I should sleep. The doctor had said rest is important for fever. But how could I sleep when Ravi was in my house, standing so close to Amma, talking to her in that voice?

My curiosity was stronger than my sickness.

Slowly, very slowly, I pushed myself up from the bed. My arms were shaking. My legs felt like they were made of wet cloth. But I managed to sit up. I sat there for a moment, breathing hard, letting the dizziness pass. Then I put my feet on the floor.

The floor was cold against my feet. I stood up, holding onto the bed for support. The room spun around me for a second. I waited, holding my breath, until the spinning stopped. Then I took one step, then another, moving toward the door.

I reached the door and put my ear against it. The voices were clearer now. Ravi was saying something about waiting. Amma was explaining about my fever. I could hear the worry in her voice when she said my name.

I knew I should not do this. I knew I should stay in bed and rest. But I could not stop myself. I had to see. I had to know what was happening.

My hand found the door handle. I turned it very slowly, making sure there was no sound. Then I pulled the door open, just a small gap, just enough to see out into the hall.

From my position, I could see the hall clearly. The light from the single bulb hanging from the ceiling was dim and yellowish. Appa was lying on the cot in the corner, his arm hanging down, snoring loudly. He was completely drunk, as usual. His shirt was half-open, his hair was messy, and he smelled of arrack even from where I was standing.

And there, in the middle of the hall, stood Ravi and Amma.

At first glance, everything looked normal. Too normal. Like they were just two neighbors talking about ordinary things. Ravi was standing with his hands in his pockets, his posture relaxed. Amma was standing a few feet away from him, her arms crossed over her chest, looking toward Appa.

But I could see the tension in the air. I could feel it, even from my room. There was something electric between them, something that made my stomach tight.

I stayed at the doorway, holding the door frame for support. My legs were weak, but I forced myself to stand. I was hidden in the shadows of my room, and they could not see me. The light was behind them, casting their shadows long on the floor.

Ravi spoke first. His voice was soft, but I could hear every word.

"Lakshmi," he said, "why didn't you come today? I was waiting for you. The whole day I waited."

Amma looked down at the floor. "Arjun has fever," she said. "High fever. I couldn't leave him alone. What if something happened?"

Ravi nodded. He took a step closer to her. "I understand," he said. "You are a mother first. That is natural. I am not angry."

He paused, looking at her face carefully. Then he continued, "But look at your situation now. Arjun is sick with fever. Murugan is completely drunk, cannot even stand straight. You are alone here, Lakshmi. What if something happens in the night? What if Arjun's fever gets worse? Who will help you?"

Amma looked up at him, her eyes worried. "I... I can manage," she said, but her voice was not sure.

Ravi shook his head. "No," he said firmly but gently. "I will stay here tonight. I will sleep in the hall. If anything happens, I will be here. You don't have to worry."

Amma's eyes widened. "No," she said quickly. "No, you cannot stay. If someone sees you leaving in the morning... Ravi, you know how this village is. One whisper and my reputation is finished. My family's reputation is finished."

She was right. In our village, gossip spread faster than fire. If anyone saw a man leaving our house early morning, especially a man like Ravi who was not related to us, the talk would start immediately. And once talk starts in a village, it never stops.

Ravi listened to her without interrupting. He had that patient look on his face, the look of a man who knows he will get what he wants eventually.

"I understand your concern," he said calmly. "You are thinking about the village people. But think about your son, Lakshmi. Think about his health. Is his safety not more important than some gossip?"

He took another step closer. Now he was standing very close to her, close enough that he could touch her if he wanted.

"And don't worry," he added, his voice dropping lower. "I will leave before dawn. Before anyone wakes up. Before the sun is even fully up. No one will see me. I promise you."

Amma looked at him, her face showing her confusion. She wanted to say no, I could see that. But she was also thinking about me, about my fever. She was trapped between her fear of gossip and her duty as a mother.

"Ravi..." she started.

"Just for tonight," he said softly. "Only because Arjun is sick. Tomorrow, if his fever is better, I will go back to my house. But tonight, let me stay. Let me help you. Let me be here for you."

I watched from my doorway, my heart beating fast. I could see what Ravi was doing. He was being very careful, very smart. He was not forcing her. He was not shouting or demanding. He was wrapping his request in concern and care, making it seem like he was doing this only for our benefit.

And it was working.

Amma looked at Appa, who was snoring loudly, completely useless. Then she looked toward my room. I quickly moved back a little, making sure she could not see me. When I looked again, she had turned back to Ravi.

"Okay," she said quietly. "You can stay. But you must leave early. Before anyone wakes up."

Ravi smiled. It was a small smile, but I saw the satisfaction in it. "I will," he promised. "Before the first light."

Then Amma asked the question that had been in her mind, I think. "But why did you come so late, Ravi? It is almost ten o'clock. Why did you come now?"

Ravi's expression changed. He looked at her directly, his eyes serious.

"Because you promised me," he said. "Yesterday morning, you promised me that you would come today. You promised you would fulfill my condition. I waited the whole day, Lakshmi. I waited and waited. But you didn't come."

Amma's face changed. She looked shocked by his directness. She turned away from him, her back straight, her hands clasped together.

"I... I couldn't," she said softly. "Arjun was sick..."

"I know," Ravi said. "I understand that. But you broke your promise. That is why I came. To remind you. To collect what you promised."

The words hung in the air between them. I strained to hear, my fever forgotten for a moment. What was this condition? What had Amma promised?

Amma remained silent, not looking at him. The silence stretched for a long moment. Then, suddenly, she asked, "Did you eat anything?"

Ravi blinked, surprised by the change of topic. "No," he admitted. "Not since afternoon. I was... waiting. I couldn't eat."

Amma's face softened. She had that motherly look now, the look she got when someone was hungry. "I will make dosa for you," she said. "After eating, you can sleep here in the hall."

She started moving toward the kitchen. Ravi watched her go, his eyes following her movements. Then he did something strange.

He walked over to Appa's cot.

I watched, confused, as Ravi knelt down beside my father. Appa was lying on his back, his mouth open, snoring, completely unconscious. Ravi leaned close to him, very close, until his mouth was right next to Appa's ear.

Then he started whispering.

I couldn't hear what he was saying. His voice was too low, meant only for Appa's ears. But I could see his lips moving. And I could see the expression on his face.

It was villainous.

His eyes were looking toward the kitchen, where Amma had gone. His lips were curved in a cruel smile. He was saying something, something that made him look like a predator who had caught his prey. There was mockery in his face, and lust, and triumph.

He kept whispering for a minute or two, his eyes fixed on the kitchen entrance. Then he stood up, still smiling that satisfied smile, and walked toward the kitchen.

I stayed at my doorway, my mind racing. What had he said to Appa? Why whisper to a man who was too drunk to understand anything?

But I didn't have time to think about it. Ravi had entered the kitchen.

I moved my position slightly, trying to get a better angle. From where I stood, I could see part of the kitchen through the doorway. The kitchen light was on, yellow and dim. Amma was standing at the stove, her back partially turned, mixing batter in a bowl.

Ravi entered slowly. His steps were quiet, deliberate. He moved like a cat hunting a mouse. His eyes were fixed on Amma's back, on her waist, on the curve of her hips under her saree.

Amma didn't hear him at first. She was focused on the cooking. The pan was heating on the stove.

Then Ravi spoke.

"What are you doing, Lakshmi?"

His voice was low, controlled, chilling.

Amma jumped. She turned around sharply, her hand on her chest. "Ravi!" she said, her voice sharp. "What do you want now? Go and wait in the hall. I am making food for you."

But then her eyes narrowed. She looked at him suspiciously. "And what were you saying to Murugan just now? I saw you whispering to him. What did you tell him?"

Ravi didn't flinch. He didn't try to lie or hide. He answered openly, boldly.

"I told him that tonight I am going to make out with you," he said. "Right here, in this house. Right near him. The same way he does with you."

Amma froze. Her face went pale. Then color rushed back to her cheeks, bright red.

"What... what are you saying?" she stammered. Her voice rose, shaking. "That will never happen! Not today, not with everyone here! That is the last thing I will do, Ravi! Have you lost your mind?"

Ravi raised his hand, signaling her to lower her voice. "Shh," he said calmly. "Don't shout. Someone might hear."

He took a step closer to her. "And yes, it will happen. You promised me, Lakshmi. Yesterday, you promised you would fulfill my condition today. You forgot. You broke your promise. That is why I came here. To collect what you owe me."

Amma's eyes filled with fear. She stepped back, until her back was against the kitchen counter.

"Please, Ravi," she whispered, her voice pleading. "Not today. Please. Everyone is here. My son is sick. My husband is here. If anything happens... if anyone finds out... my whole life will collapse, Ravi. Everything will be finished."

Ravi looked at her, his expression softening but remaining firm.

"Even if your family breaks," he said quietly, "I will glue it back together. With me at the center. And you will be the queen of my house. The queen of my heart."

The words were like something from a film. Romantic words, proposal words. But coming from Ravi's mouth, in this situation, they were twisted and wrong.

Amma stood there, dumbfounded. She didn't know what to say. I could see her face from my position—she was confused, shocked, but also... something else. Something I couldn't name.

Ravi took another step closer. Now he was standing right in front of her. He raised his hand slowly and pressed his index finger against her lips, stopping her from speaking.

"Wait," he said softly. "You are curious about the condition, aren't you? You want to know what it is?"

Amma's eyes were wide. She didn't move. She stood frozen, his finger on her lips.

I watched from my doorway, my heart hammering against my ribs. I wanted to know too. What was this condition? What was Ravi demanding from her?

My fever was making me dizzy, but I forced myself to stay standing. I wanted to move closer, to hear better, but I couldn't. My legs were too weak. I was trapped at my doorway, watching from a distance, frustrated and curious and angry all at the same time.

Ravi lowered his finger from Amma's lips. She took a breath, then asked the question that changed everything.

"Ravi," she said, her voice serious and clear. "Tell me the truth. Are we trying to have a baby? Is that what this is about? The surrogacy? Or are you just manipulating me? Are you just using me to become your wife , prostitute for your own desire?"

The question hung in the air like a knife.

Ravi's face changed. For a moment, his eyes flashed with anger. His hand shot up, and for a second I thought he was going to slap her. I tensed, ready to rush out even in my weak condition.

But he stopped. His hand froze in mid-air. He looked at it, then slowly lowered it.

"What prostitute?" he said, his voice sharp. "What are you talking about?"

He took a deep breath, controlling himself. When he spoke again, his voice was different. Softer. Sincere. Or pretending to be sincere.

"Lakshmi," he said, looking into her eyes. "I love you. I love you the same way I love Meena. Both of you are my life. Even if you leave all of this behind—your husband, this house, everything—and come with me, I will make sure you live with every bit of happiness I can give you."

He paused, letting his words sink in.

"I know this whole thing started because of the surrogacy," he continued. "The baby. That was the original plan. But after some time... I slowly started loving you. I couldn't help it. And now it has come to this. I never thought of you as a prostitute, Lakshmi. Never. I think of you as... as someone precious. Someone I want to keep with me. I will support you. I will take care of you."

As I watched from my doorway, I thought to myself—what a smooth talker this Ravi was. If any other woman had heard these words, she would have fallen for him immediately. These were the kind of words women dreamed of hearing from their husbands. Romantic words. Loving words.

I looked at Amma's face, hoping she would see through it. Hoping she would remember Appa, remember her family, remember everything.

But I was disappointed.

I saw it clearly—a faint blush rising on her cheeks. A small, fleeting smile touching the corners of her mouth. It was there for only a few seconds, but I saw it.

In that moment, I felt that Amma had already stepped into the trap. Ravi had her. He had the upper hand now.

They stood there, looking at each other. The air between them was thick, charged with something I didn't fully understand but could feel. It was like a romantic moment from a movie, intense and quiet.

Then suddenly, a sharp smell filled the air.

Smoke.

The dosa on the pan had burned. Amma gasped and rushed to the stove, grabbing the pan and moving it away. She threw the burnt dosa into the dustbin, her movements quick and flustered.

The moment was broken.

If the dosa had not burned right then, I don't know what would have happened. That charged silence might have led to something else entirely.

Amma started preparing a fresh dosa. Her hands were shaking slightly as she poured the batter onto the pan. Ravi stood nearby, watching her.

After a moment of silence, Amma spoke again. Her voice was careful, slow.

"Ravi," she said, not looking at him. "Tell me. What is this condition you keep talking about? The one you refused to tell me yesterday. What is it?"

Ravi smiled slightly. That knowing, confident smile.

"Five years ago," he began, "I saw a couple in my sugarcane field. It was almost evening, getting dark. I didn't know who they were. But they were doing something. I went closer... and I saw that she was giving him a blowjob."

The words hit me like a physical blow. I froze at my doorway.

"Seeing that," Ravi continued, "created a strong urge in me. I went home and asked my wife Meena to do the same. She refused. She said she would never do that kind of thing. For the past few years, I've kept asking her, but she always declines."

He looked at Amma steadily, his eyes intense.

"So that's all," he said. "That's the thing. That's my condition. I hope now you understand what I'm asking you."

Amma looked at him, her expression confused. She didn't seem to fully understand at first.

"So..." she said slowly, "just because your first wife didn't give you a blowjob... you manipulated me for this?"

Then, surprisingly, a slight smile appeared on her face. It was a teasing smile, almost playful. "What if I refuse?" she asked. "Will you go and marry another woman?"

They continued talking in that light way, both of them laughing softly. The tension had broken into something almost casual, almost domestic. Amma was cooking, Ravi was standing close to her eating the fresh dosa she had prepared, and they were talking like... like a couple.

But I was still frozen at my doorway.

Blowjob.

The word echoed in my mind.

I had heard that word before, whispered by boys at college, spoken in hushed tones. I knew what it meant. And the moment I understood that this was Ravi's condition—that he wanted Amma to do this to him—I felt something dark rise inside me.

I couldn't name the feeling. It was wrong, I knew it was wrong. But there was a part of me—a shameful, hidden part—that wanted it to happen.

All this time, I had seen Amma fully naked. I had witnessed her having sex with Ravi. But I had never seen her sucking another man's cock. That was something different. Something I had never imagined seeing.

The thought sent an instant, hard arousal through my fever-weakened body. I felt guilty immediately, disgusted with myself. But I couldn't stop the images forming in my mind.

After finishing the dosa, Ravi turned to Lakshmi again. His face was serious now, the playful moment gone.

"So," he asked directly. "What's your answer, Lakshmi? Will you do it?"

Amma stood nearby, looking at him. Her face was uncertain.

"I... I have never tried or done anything like that," she admitted. Her voice was soft, almost embarrassed. "I don't know how..."

She paused. I could see her thinking, calculating.

"And I know one thing," she continued. "If I refuse, you will not leave me alone the entire night. You will keep asking, keep pressuring. It will become a real nuisance."

She shook her head then, like a little girl refusing candy. But there was no strength in the refusal.

Ravi saw it too. He moved closer to her, his hands coming together in a pleading gesture.

"Please, please, Lakshmi," he begged. His voice was soft, earnest. "You were the one who agreed to the condition. You promised. I've been holding onto this expectation for so many years. Please, Lakshmi. Please say yes."

He kept pleading, his voice getting softer, more desperate. He looked like a child asking for a toy.

And finally, after what seemed like forever, Amma nodded.

"Okay," she whispered. "I will do it."

Ravi's face exploded with joy. He looked like a small boy who had just received his favorite gift. His eyes lit up, and a huge smile spread across his face.

He stepped forward and hugged her tightly, wrapping his arms around her waist. He hugged her the way a child would hug his mother—pure, innocent delight.

But there was nothing innocent about what they were going to do.

Amma's expression remained unreadable as he hugged her. She didn't hug him back, but she didn't push him away either.

I watched from my doorway, my mind spinning. How could she accept this so easily? Even though she had little room to refuse—trapped by her promises, by Ravi's persistence, by the situation—I could see that she had also begun slowly falling for him. She was beginning to want this, beginning to want him, even if she didn't fully realize it yet.

Ravi broke the hug. He was still smiling, but now his smile had changed. It was predatory again, hungry.

"I will close the windows," he said. "And the  doors. We need privacy."

He moved around the kitchen, closing the window that looked out into the backyard. Then he went to the back door and checked the latch, making sure it was secure. He moved with methodical care, like a man preparing for something important.

Amma watched him. "What are you doing?" she asked.

Ravi turned to her. "No one should see this," he said. "The way I myself witnessed something similar five years ago. This is private. This is just for us."

Then he asked, "Shall we do it here? Or would you rather go back to the room?"

Amma looked confused. Her earlier fear returned to her eyes. She looked around the kitchen, then toward the hall.

"Do we have to do it here?" she asked. "Because..."

She trailed off, not finishing the sentence.

Ravi interrupted her. "See, Lakshmi," he said calmly. "No one is going to disturb us. Look at that guy Murugan—he is completely drunk, can't even speak, won't wake up until morning. And your son... he is sleeping with high fever. He is weak, unconscious probably. No one will interrupt us."

He stepped closer to her, his voice dropping to a whisper. "We can do it here. Or we can go to the bedroom. Wherever you are comfortable. But don't worry about being caught. We are safe."

They went back and forth for a while, Amma expressing her fears, Ravi reassuring her. Finally, after repeated discussion, she agreed.

"Okay," she said. "We can go to the room."

Ravi immediately seized her hand. He tugged her toward the bedroom, eager and insistent.

But Amma slipped free from his grasp. "Wait," she whispered.

She moved methodically then. First, she extinguished the kitchen light. The kitchen went dark. Then she walked into the hall and turned off the hall light. The house plunged into darkness, save for a single dim lamp flickering in the corner of the hall.

Before following Ravi to the bedroom, Amma paused. She glanced toward my room, her eyes darting with apprehension. She was checking to see if I was awake, if I could hear them.

I quickly shut my door all the way, making sure she couldn't see me. I heard her footsteps pause for a moment, then continue.

Now the house was submerged in darkness. Only that one dim lamp provided any light, and it cast long, shifting shadows on the walls.

I waited for a minute, my heart pounding. Then I slowly opened my door again. The hall was dark and quiet. Appa was still snoring on his cot. The bedroom door was closed, but I could see light coming from the gap at the bottom.

I crept out of my room. My body was still weak, my fever still burning, but I moved quietly, carefully. The old house bore the weight of years, and I knew which floorboards creaked and which were safe to step on.

I reached my mother's bedroom door. It was an old door, hanging imperfectly on its hinges. It never latched completely—there was always a small gap.

I pressed my eye to the crack.

Through the narrow opening, I saw Ravi. He had already removed all his clothes. He stood completely naked, his body muscular and strong in the dim light. And between his legs... his cock stood rigid and massive, pointing directly toward Amma.

He was fully erect, throbbing with anticipation.

Amma stood a few feet away from him. She was still wearing her saree—the soft peach-pink saree that shifted to rose-pink in the dim light. The fabric had a subtle sheen, with large stylized floral motifs in muted copper-gold, bordered by intricate gold zari work. Her blouse was vibrant magenta-pink, fitting snugly against her short sleeves.

Around her neck hung her two thaalis—one from Appa, one from Ravi. The gold chains caught the light, gleaming against her skin. Gold jhumka earrings dangled from her ears, their bell shapes catching what little light remained in the room.

She looked beautiful. Like a bride. Like a goddess.

But she was trembling.

She had covered her eyes with her hands, her fingers spread across her face. Her voice was shaking with embarrassment.

"What is this, Ravi?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Can't you wait a moment? Why such urgency? Why are you already... like that?"

Ravi's voice came thick with desire, heavy and hungry.

"You don't understand this feeling, Lakshmi," he said. "You don't know how long I've waited for this moment. Since morning, this is all I've thought about. This is all I've anticipated. Now... remove your hands and come to me. I've been burning for you since morning with this hunger. I cannot wait anymore."

Lakshmi slowly lowered her hands from her eyes. But she remained frozen in place, not moving toward him. Her face was flushed crimson, her eyes wide with a mixture of fear and... something else.

Ravi closed the distance between them. He took her hand—her small, delicate hand—and guided it to his throbbing erection.

Amma's face turned even redder as she felt his heat, his hardness. She looked down, then quickly looked away, her embarrassment complete.

"What should I do now, Ravi?" she whispered, her voice trembling. "I don't know what to do. I have never..."

Ravi smiled down at her, his hand still guiding hers against his cock.

"Don't worry," he said softly. "I will teach you. Just kneel down, Lakshmi. Kneel down and take it in your mouth. That is all. That is everything I want from you tonight."

He gently pressed on her shoulders, encouraging her to lower herself.

And as I watched from the crack in the door, my breath held, my heart hammering, my body burning with fever and something darker, Amma slowly began to sink to her knees in front of him.

The moment had come.

The condition was about to be fulfilled.

I pressed my eye harder against the gap in the doorframe. The old wood was rough against my skin, scratching my cheek, but I did not move. My fever was making everything slightly blurry, like I was seeing the world through water. But I could not look away. I had to see what was happening.

My heart was beating so loud. Thud. Thud. Thud. I was sure they would hear it. I was sure Ravi would turn and see me standing there, spying on them like a thief. But he did not turn. He was looking only at Amma.

Amma was on her knees. The peach-pink saree was pooled around her on the floor, making a soft circle like a flower. The two thaalis hung forward from her neck, swaying slightly every time she breathed. Her breathing was fast. I could see her chest moving up and down under her blouse, fast and shallow like she had been running.

She was looking at Ravi's cock. Her eyes were wide, uncertain, confused. She did not know what to do. I could see that clearly. Her hands were clasped together in her lap, fingers twisting around each other, nervous and unsure.

Ravi stood before her, naked and hard. His cock was standing straight out, pointing toward her face. It looked thick and heavy in the dim light.

"Don't be afraid," Ravi said. His voice was soft, gentle, but there was command in it too. He reached down and took her hand, pulling it toward him. He wrapped her fingers around his shaft, showing her how to hold it. "Just like this. Hold it firm, but not too tight. You understand?"

Amma's hand looked small around his thickness. Her fingers were trembling. She gripped him lightly, experimentally, like she was holding something that might burn her. Her touch was hesitant, unsure.

"I... I don't know," she whispered. Her voice was shaking. "Ravi, I don't know how to do this. I have never..."

"I know," Ravi said. He was patient, but I could see the tension in his body. He wanted her to hurry, but he was controlling himself. "That is why I am here. To teach you. To show you. Now, open your mouth, Lakshmi. Slowly. Just the tip. Take it in."

Amma looked at his cock again. Her lips were pressed together tight. She was thinking, I could see that. Thinking whether to say no, whether to stand up and run away, whether to remember that she was a married woman and this was wrong.

But she did not stand up. She did not run.

Slowly, very slowly, she opened her mouth. Her lips parted just a little, showing a glimpse of teeth, the pink inside. She leaned forward, her eyes closing tight like she was afraid to look, and she took the tip of his cock into her mouth.

Ravi let out a long breath. His head fell back, his eyes closing. "Yes," he whispered. "Yes, like that. Good."

Amma made a sound. It was a small sound, muffled, like a whimper. She sounded overwhelmed. Her hands came up and gripped his thighs for support, her knuckles turning white from holding so tight. She did not move. She just stayed there, frozen, with just the tip in her mouth, unsure what to do next.

"Move your tongue," Ravi instructed. His voice was strained, like he was holding back. "Lick it. Yes... yes, like that. Now take more. Slowly. Don't rush."

He put his hand on the back of her head, fingers threading through her hair. He applied gentle pressure, guiding her, pushing her down onto him little by little. I watched as more of his cock disappeared between her lips. Her mouth was stretching around his girth, her cheeks hollowing as she tried to suck.

She was not doing it right, I thought. She was clumsy, inexperienced. Her movements were jerky, uncertain. She would take a little, then pull back, then try again. Saliva was dripping from her mouth, making her chin wet, but she did not seem to notice or care.

"That's it," Ravi groaned. "That's good. You are doing well, Lakshmi. Just keep going. Find a rhythm."

Amma tried to move her head back and forth. Her hair fell forward, covering her face, and Ravi pushed it back with his other hand so he could watch her. His expression was intense, focused, like he was memorizing every moment of this.

"Look at me," he commanded suddenly. "Lakshmi, look at me."

Amma opened her eyes. She looked up at him from her kneeling position, her mouth full of him, her eyes watery and uncertain. The sight seemed to excite Ravi more. He started moving his hips, thrusting slightly into her mouth, testing her.

"Yes," he grunted. "Yes, take it. Take more."

He pushed deeper. Too deep. Amma gagged suddenly, her eyes widening, her body jerking. She tried to pull back, her hands pushing against his thighs, but Ravi held her head firm with his hand.

"Relax," he said, his voice harsh. "Don't fight it. Relax your throat. Breathe through your nose. You can take it. I know you can."

Amma tried to follow. I could see her forcing herself to relax, her shoulders dropping, her body going soft. Ravi pushed in deeper, until her nose was pressed against his stomach, his entire length buried in her mouth.

He held her there. Groaning. His eyes closed, his face twisted with pleasure.

"Swallow," he commanded. "Swallow around me. Yes... yes, that's it."

When he finally pulled back, letting her breathe, Amma gasped loudly. She pulled back completely, her hand coming to her mouth, wiping at the saliva dripping down her chin. Her face was flushed red, her eyes wet, her breathing ragged. She looked at Ravi with something like shock, like she could not believe what she had just done.

"Again," Ravi said immediately. His voice was rough, demanding. "Again. This time, use your hand too. Pump the base while you suck the top."

Amma looked at him, her expression confused. "I... I don't know if I can," she said, her voice hoarse. "Ravi, this is... this is too much. I feel like I am choking. I don't know if I am doing it right."

"You are doing fine," Ravi insisted. He took her hand and wrapped it around his shaft, showing her the motion. "Like this. Up and down. While your mouth works the top. Yes. Yes, that's it."

Amma started moving her hand, pumping him slowly. Her movements were mechanical, robotic, like she was following instructions but not feeling anything. She took him back into her mouth, but she was hesitant, careful, not taking as much as before.

The wet sounds filled the room. Obscene sounds. The sound of suction, of saliva, of flesh moving against flesh. Ravi's groans grew louder, less controlled.

"Yes," he panted. "Yes, just like that. Faster. Harder."

Amma tried to speed up, but she was awkward. Her teeth scbangd against him accidentally, and Ravi winced, pulling back slightly.

"Careful," he said. "Use your lips. Cover your teeth. Yes, like that."

She adjusted, trying to do as he said. But I could see she was not enjoying this. Her face was concentrated, stressed, like she was doing a difficult job that she did not know how to do properly. There was no pleasure in her expression, only confusion and effort.

"Look at me," Ravi commanded again. "Look at me while you do this."

Amma opened her eyes and looked up at him. Her expression was blank, unreadable. I could not tell what she was thinking. Was she hating this? Was she enduring it? Or was there something else, something she was hiding even from herself?

Ravi stared down at her, his hips moving faster, thrusting into her mouth with more force. His hand was tight in her hair, guiding her, controlling her movements.

"I'm getting close," he warned, his voice strained. "Lakshmi, I'm going to cum. Don't stop. Don't pull away. Take it. Take everything."

Amma's eyes widened. She tried to pull back, to say something, but her mouth was full and Ravi was holding her tight.

"Trust me," he groaned. "Trust me. Swallow it. Just swallow."

And then he exploded. His body went rigid, his back arching, his hips jerking forward. Amma's eyes bulged, her throat working convulsively. She was trying to swallow, I could see that, but there was too much. Some of it leaked from the corners of her mouth, white and thick cum, dripping down her chin onto her saree, staining the peach-pink fabric.

Ravi kept her there, holding her head, groaning loudly as he emptied himself into her. When he finally finished, he pulled out slowly, his cock still half-hard, glistening in the dim light.

Amma fell back onto her heels, gasping. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, her face twisted in an expression I could not read. Was it disgust? Shame? Relief? I could not tell. She would not look at Ravi. She kept her eyes on the floor, her chest heaving.

Ravi looked down at her, his breathing slowly returning to normal. He reached down and wiped the excess from her chin with his thumb. Then he held it toward her lips.

"Clean it," he ordered softly.

Amma looked at his thumb, then at his face. For a moment, I thought she would refuse. I thought she would stand up and slap him, scream at him, remember who she was.

But she did not. She leaned forward slowly and took his thumb into her mouth, sucking it clean. The gesture was automatic, robotic, like she was too tired to resist.

Ravi smiled, satisfied. "Good," he said. "Very good. You did well for your first time."

Amma did not respond. She remained silent, looking down, her hands clasped in her lap.

"How do you feel?" Ravi asked, his voice gentle now. "Did it... did it feel strange?"

Amma was quiet for a long moment. Then she spoke, her voice barely audible. "I don't know," she said. "I don't know how I feel. My mouth feels... strange. Sore. And I feel... dirty."

"Not dirty," Ravi said quickly. He knelt down beside her, his hand on her shoulder. "Not dirty, Lakshmi. This is natural. This is beautiful. Between us, it is beautiful."

Amma did not look convinced. She wiped her mouth again, her face showing confusion more than anything else. "I need to rinse my mouth," she said. "I need water."

"Of course," Ravi said. He stood up and helped her stand. Her legs were wobbling, and he held her arm to support her. "Come. I will get you water."

They moved toward the kitchen, and I had to shift my position to keep them in view. My legs were cramping from standing so long, my fever making me dizzy, but I could not move away.

In the kitchen, Amma drank water from the tumbler, rinsing her mouth and spitting into the sink. She did it three times, four times, like she was trying to wash away the taste.

Ravi watched her, his expression concerned. "Are you alright?" he asked.

"I don't know," Amma said again. She leaned against the counter, her hand on her forehead. "I feel confused, Ravi. I don't know if I should have done that. I don't know what this means."

"It means we are close," Ravi said. He stepped closer to her, his hand reaching for her waist. "It means we are learning each other. It means you trust me enough to try new things."

Amma looked at him, her eyes searching his face. "But did I do it right?" she asked. "I felt like I was doing it wrong. Like I was... clumsy. Disgusting."

"No," Ravi said firmly. "You were perfect. You were innocent and beautiful. That is what I like about you, Lakshmi. You are not like Meena, refusing everything. You are willing to try. Willing to learn."

He pulled her closer, his arms wrapping around her waist. Amma did not resist, but she did not melt into him either. She stood stiff, uncertain, her body language confused.

"I should go to bed," she said quietly. "I should check on Arjun. And Murugan..."

"Murugan is sleeping like a dead man," Ravi said. "He will not wake until morning. And Arjun... he is resting. Let him rest."

His hands moved up her back, slowly, caressingly. "Stay with me a little longer," he whispered. "Just a little longer."

Amma looked toward my room, then toward the bedroom. "Ravi, I don't know if I can... do more tonight. I feel tired. Strange. Like my head is spinning."

"We don't have to do more," Ravi said. "We can just sit. Just talk. Just be together."

But even as he said this, his hands were moving, untucking her saree from her waist, loosening the fabric. Amma noticed, and she put her hand on his, stopping him.

"Ravi," she said, her voice firmer now. "I said I am tired. I need to sleep."

Ravi looked at her, his expression changing. For a moment, I saw frustration in his eyes. But he controlled it. He nodded.

"Alright," he said. "Alright. You are right. You should rest. Tomorrow... tomorrow we can talk more."

He stepped back, giving her space. Amma immediately moved away, putting distance between them. She started fixing her saree, tucking it back in, wiping at the stains on her chin and chest.

"I will go to my room," she said. "You... you should sleep in the hall. Like you promised."

Ravi nodded, but I could see he was not happy. "Yes," he said. "I will sleep here. But Lakshmi..."

He moved closer again, his hand cupping her cheek. "You were wonderful tonight. Whatever you are feeling now, whatever confusion is in your mind... remember that. Remember that you made me very happy."

Amma looked at him, her expression still unreadable. She did not smile. She did not say she was glad she made him happy. She just looked at him with those confused, uncertain eyes.

Then she turned and walked toward her bedroom. She paused at the door, looking back at him once, something in her gaze that I could not interpret. Then she went inside and closed the door.

Ravi stood alone in the kitchen for a long moment. He looked down at his hand, the one that had been in her mouth, and he smiled to himself. A small, private smile of victory.

Then he moved to the hall, found a blanket, and lay down on the floor near Appa's cot. He pulled the blanket over himself and closed his eyes.

I stayed at my post for a long time, watching, waiting. But nothing more happened. Ravi's breathing became deep and regular. He was asleep.

I stumbled back to my bed, my body shaking with fever and exhaustion. My mind was a mess of images and sounds. Amma on her knees. The confusion in her eyes. The uncertainty. The way she had not smiled, had not admitted anything, had not surrendered completely.

She had done it. She had fulfilled the condition. But she had not enjoyed it. Not openly. Not obviously.

Or had she? I did not know. I could not tell. Her face had been too confused, too conflicted.

I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, listening to the sounds of the house. Appa's snoring. Ravi's breathing. And from Amma's room... silence. No sobbing this time. Just silence.

What was she thinking in there? Was she regretting it? Was she trying to understand why she had done it? Was she telling herself it was just for the money, just for the surrogacy, just because she had promised?

Or was she touching her lips, remembering the feel of him, confused by her own body's reactions?

I did not know. I could not know.

The slow burn continued. The fire was lit, but it was burning slowly, uncertainly, with much smoke and confusion.

Tomorrow would bring more. More uncertainty. More confusion. More steps down a path that none of us knew where it led.

I closed my eyes, the fever pulling me down into darkness, my last thought being of Amma's face, her expression, her unreadable eyes.

What did she feel? What did she want?

Only time would tell.
