Chapter 153 : Shadows Before Dawn
The night stretched into an endless void. While Jay conducted his search with quiet, methodical precision—checking old haunts, mutual contacts, and even driving past familiar streets in silence—Tharun’s world had fractured completely.
Tharun hadn’t eaten. He hadn’t drunk water. His eyes were bloodshot, clothes disheveled from hours of frantic running between locations. Every corner of the city felt hostile. He revisited the restaurant, interrogated staff with trembling hands, then drove to every place Nikitha had ever mentioned. The hostel. Her favorite café. Even the hotel where everything had begun unraveling.
“Nikitha… where are you?” he whispered hoarsely into the darkness, voice cracking. The absence clawed at him like a living wound. He remembered the warmth of her body against his, the way she had tentatively smiled during shopping, the soft scent of her hair when he held her. He had been willing to share her, to accept whatever version of love she offered, just to keep her near. Now that fragile hope was slipping away. Exhaustion weighed on him like lead, but he refused to stop. Tears blurred his vision as he sat in his car at 3 a.m., head against the steering wheel, whispering broken apologies to the empty passenger seat. I pushed too hard. I should have given her space. The obsession that had sustained him now tormented him. He missed her with every fiber of his being—her laugh, her touch, the way her eyes softened when she looked at him despite everything.
Jay, searching separately across town, felt a different kind of ache. He knew Nikitha’s patterns better than anyone. Yet even he came up empty. Both men moved like ghosts in the same night, never crossing paths, united only by the woman who had vanished.
The night before the wedding, Tharun’s phone rang. An unknown number. He answered instantly, heart slamming against his ribs.
The voice on the other end was unmistakable—soft, tired, but steady. Nikitha.
“Where are you? What happened? Where did you go?” His words tumbled out desperately, voice raw from shouting her name into the void all night.
“Tharun… don’t worry.”
“I’ll come to the temple directly in the morning,” she said calmly. “Be ready for the marriage. Everything will be fine.”
He demanded answers, voice rising with exhaustion and fear. “Tell me where you are right now!”
There was a pause. Then, gently: “If you trust me, I will be there in the morning.
I just… went to find some peace. To fix the storm inside me. I’ll come to you. I promise.”
The line went dead. Tharun clutched the phone to his chest, a fragile thread of hope cutting through his despair. He finally drank some water, collapsed onto the couch, and allowed himself a few hours of tortured sleep, dreaming of her return.
Morning light bathed the ancient temple in serene gold. The air was thick with the scent of fresh flowers, incense, and anticipation. Tharun’s family had arrived early, anxious but trying to maintain the auspicious mood. Tharun looked exhausted yet wired, eyes scanning the crowd relentlessly.
Then he saw her.
Nikitha stood near the mandap, already dressed in a beautiful silk saree that dbangd elegantly over her curves, accentuating the graceful lines of her waist and shoulders. She looked calm—almost radiant—in the morning light.
Tharun rushed forward and pulled her into a fierce hug, burying his face in her neck. The familiar scent of her skin nearly undid him. “I’m sorry,” he whispered repeatedly, voice thick with emotion. “I’m so sorry if I did anything wrong. If I pressured you. If I—”
She held him tightly, rubbing his back. “No. I was the one who did everything wrong. You were right all along. You fought for me when no one else would.”
Relief flooded him. They moved toward the ceremonial space as the priest prepared the rituals. The family watched with cautious hope.
But as they were about to sit for the main rites, Nikitha hesitated. “Tharun, I need to speak with you. It’s important.”
“Later,” he urged, glancing at the priest and the rapidly approaching auspicious time. “We can talk after. The muhurat is almost here. Please, sit.”
Nikitha’s expression shifted. She took a deep breath, then suddenly called out, voice clear and strong across the temple courtyard:
“Mithra!”
From behind a flower-decorated pillar at the side of the mandap, a woman emerged. Mithra. She walked forward gracefully, holding a garland of fresh flowers in one hand and carrying the exact silk saree the family had chosen for Nikitha—beautifully folded, as if prepared for a bride.
Tharun froze, stunned into silence. His mind struggled to process the scene. Confusion, disbelief, and a rising wave of dread washed over his face as he stared at Mithra, then back at Nikitha, the weight of what was unfolding crashing down on him.

Nothing like that bro...we are all emotionally invested so if we truly understand the pain and choices of each character, Author didn't leave much choice...The moment I read Tharun is obsessed and madly in love with Nikita then its all over....she won't stay there any longer and she realizes her presence is causing so much pain to every one so she will move far away from every one.
She now thinks she is not worthy of both the men - Jay and Tharun....Her pain in destroying Mithra, Jay and Tharun's life won't be able to give her peace in this life unless they understand her pain and willingly move on in their life but that will only happen if Tharun realizes his mistake and marry Mithra on same date and same time he planned with Nikita...Can he do that for her? we don't know...If he does that at least Nikita and Kay will have future in a epilogue or in future after some time when every one is healed.
So yet to be seen what would be the reaction from Tharun...

He understands the nuances better.. he analyses the characters through written words and reading between lines.. so his comments always give insights in a much better way..
Let me give you an example.. during the break of this story, I read knowing series.. third part is a huge one and that story messed up my mind..I read only the author updates initially... After that I read the comments to understand it better why/what/how it happened that way?
RCF's comments along with few others made me better understand that story (ofcourse there are still somethings that I didn't understand).. RCF's analysis ranks higher in reducing the chaos of my mind after reading only author's updates

Yes it is possible....
It comes from a mad OCD level of obsession to do everything right in their mind...NIKITA is such a character, she cannot willingly do anything wrong in her mind and in her conscience...she cannot live like that....
We can clearly see that in her thoughts, actions....Tharun on the other hand was willingly read to stick to his choice so what was stopping Nikita from doing the same? Its her obsession to be right in every thought, action she does in her life....when she took different choices in different points in time, she was always right and she is right now as well....

Why are you so obsessed with pleasing Heygi? You were the one who brought up OCD. I'm sure even Heygi never thought of it.

I will try to answer though I may not be as good as RCF in explaining things..
Even after Nikita met Mithra she was feeling bad but told her that she will marry Tharun. In that mindset she has visited hospital to make mithra move on or atleast help in closure. So that Nikitha can marry Tharun after the meeting.. actually if she only talked to Mithra nothing would have changed because Mithra atleast conveyed the same in the cafe..
But she didn't meet Mithra but came to know Mithras true feelings through her diary which is true reflection of Mithra's thoughts.. she understood Mithra's deep.lovr for Tharun and Tharun's love for Mithra.. Tharun is now doing what Nikitha did to Jay.. so whether or not she will go back to Jay (Heygi put a line saying she is done with love), she wants Tharun and Mithras love to succeed..
Probably she realised Tharun sticking to her because he is the reason everything was rushed divorce with Jay, Quarrels with Tharuns parents, no closure to Mithra from Tharun's side.. Imagine Mithra's relationship with Tharun.. Did he even talk to her? Sending a text message and not meeting in person is such a cowardice no? Also from the dominating and controlling character how did he change to this? That he is willing to share his love (if we can call it that) with others? (albeit for namesake)

Chapter 154 : The Hidden Bargain
Tharun’s face went pale the moment Mithra stepped forward with the garland and silk saree.
Before anyone could react, he grabbed Nikitha’s wrist in a tight grip.
“Come with me. Now,” he growled.
He pulled her away from the mandap, through the temple corridors, and into a secluded courtyard garden hidden behind ancient stone pillars and thick flowering vines. No one could see or hear them here. The second they were alone, he let go and spun around, breathing hard, his eyes burning with pain and fury.
“What the hell is this, Nikki?” His voice was low and shaking.
“You bring Mithra here dressed like a bride? You tell me to marry her in front of everyone? Have you completely lost your mind?”
Nikitha stood her ground, though her hands were trembling.
“Tharun… I want you to marry her.
She loves you more than I ever could. Her sacrifices are real.
She deserves this life with you.”
“I love you!” he snapped, stepping so close she could feel the heat radiating off him. “Only you. I was ready to accept anything — an open relationship, sharing you, whatever scraps you gave me — just to keep you in my life. Why are you destroying us like this?”
“Because your love for me is poisoning you,” she whispered, tears sliding down her cheeks.
“And I know how deep it runs.
Remember when I vanished for those two days? No calls, no trace?”
How do you feel?
Tharun’s jaw tightened. “I couldn’t breathe. I didn’t eat or sleep. I searched everywhere like a madman. I thought I’d lost you forever.”
Nikitha nodded slowly. “Exactly. If you don’t marry Mithra today, Tharun, I will disappear for good. Not for two days — forever. You’ll never find me. You’ll never hear from me again. I’ll stay alive, but gone from your life completely. That’s not a threat. That’s a promise.”
You pushed me to this Tharun, i tried to speak with you but you are adamant, your ears are closed, you act strange exactly like me, but the price we would pay for not listening to our own heart will hurt us forever.
Panic flashed across his face. He could not understand anything she said.
He gripped her shoulders, fingers digging in. “Why are you doing this to me? What have I done to deserve this?”
The garden fell silent except for their ragged breathing.
“I’m not doing this,” he said finally, his voice dark and possessive.
“I’m not marrying her.”
Nikitha’s eyes filled with fresh tears.
She took his hands, pleading. “Tharun, please. She loves you with her whole heart.
If you don’t marry her, I will disappear forever.”
“Stop threatening me, Nikitha.
This is insane. Forcing things like this won’t work.
You might think you’re fixing everything right now, but you’re destroying me.”
“I’m setting things right,” she said softly. “You’ll thank me one day. I know, You still love her — you’re just angry and disappointed right now. Just like I still miss Jay after everything that happened.”
Hearing Jay’s name made Tharun’s expression twist with anger. A heavy silence stretched between them.
“So you’re punishing me just so you can be with Jay?” he asked, his tone turning low and dangerous.
“No… that’s not it,” she whispered. “I don’t want you to suffer the way I have. What we have isn’t healthy love. We’re just choosing each other to run away from our disappointments. I can’t fix my own life, but at least I can do this for you. And if you think what I’m doing is forceful… then what you tried to do — pushing for marriage right after the UK trip — that was forceful too.”
I will stop everything tharun if you could do one thing... Nikitha said firmly. “Look her in the eyes and tell her you only love me. Can you do that without hesitation?”
Tharun’s gaze faltered. “I… I could. But I don’t want to hurt her. Are you really okay with hurting someone who has given everything for me?”
Tharun stared at her, breathing heavily. “Fine. I’ll marry her. But I have one condition.
Sex, intimacy, children — everything physical stays with you, Nikki.
Only you. I won’t touch her like that.”
Nikitha jerked back, horrified. “No. Absolutely not. it nullify the purpose of marriage, That would destroy her. She doesn’t deserve to be trapped in a loveless, one-sided marriage.”
“Then what do you expect?” he shot back, eyes desperate. “You’re forcing me into this!”
Im just adding a clause to your threat. He said, voice shaking. “At the end of the day, I need you… Just like you’re trying to fix things your way, I’m fixing them mine. You are pushing me into a relationship I didn’t want either. Its your fault, your call”
Nikitha looked away, breathing shakily. The auspicious hour was slipping away. She closed her eyes for a long moment, guilt and sorrow washing over her face.
“You’re right… this is my fault for pushing you so hard,” she whispered. “Fine. I’ll be available to you… but not whenever you want. Once a month. Until the day you truly see Mithra’s love and accept her as your wife. That’s the deal. Take it, or I disappear forever. Right now.”
Tharun stared at her, chest heaving. The silence felt endless. He asked promise me..
Nikkitha said its a promise, but remember, the day you start seeing her love, you should leave me and live only for her. whatever arrangement im in, is just to accommodate you giving you time to accommodate her. not other way.
“I trust Mithra,” Nikitha added quietly, squeezing his hand. “She’ll change things for you soon. You may not even need me in the long run.”
She grabbed his hand tightly, reluctant acceptance written across her face, and gently pulled him back toward the main hall. Tharun followed with heavy, defeated steps, his expression dark with resignation.
When they finally emerged, the family and priest looked relieved but visibly confused. Without a word of explanation, Tharun went through the motions. He married Mithra in a quiet, emotionally charged ceremony.
Mithra stood beside him as his bride — graceful and silent. Nikitha watched from the side, her heart heavy with complicated sorrow, knowing the dangerous bargain she had just sealed.

Heygi,
In the middle somewhere, I have mentioned that the ending shouldn't be Anandhi Rahul Suriya or Mirna Vikram Bharat way ... You have managed to weave this story to atleast the possibility of such an ending... In another 2-3 weeks Nikitha realises she is pregnant with Jays child (she hasn't been initimate with Tharun for more than a month), so the deal with Tharun will be automatically voided I guess..

I think he meant to say RCF is giving ideas that align with your story.. atleast I understood it that way... He actually was praising the way the story progressed in the previous couple of pages.. he said something like this story touched his soul or something so I don't think he meant in a negative way

Why do you or him think its an idea I invented now?
He asked me if it was humanely possible for a person to go to any lengths once they believe its the right thing to do....
Can Horny explain to me why Nikita stuck with Tharun even after knowing sacrifices done by Jay or even after she realized both Jay and her love each other deeply but couldn't take the same for Mithra in case of Tharun? Because she was OK to be in a love less marriage for herself with Tharun as she accepted for his love for her but the moment she realized Tharun is just like her who still loves Mithra, she realized moving on with him would be a mistake....both him and her cannot be living in past and still move on, at least if one person should be in in true love with other, other person can slowly feel that love and eventually fall for their love but here that was not the case.....
My OCD comment still stands true and its not invented to align with the story...Nikita always tries to do the right thing

I am not saying you invented it.. i said you understand the story better so your suggestion aligns with Heygi's plot..
If you read my 2nd previous comment I tried to explain to Horny on why you said it that way, even though you can explain it better
