Nikita seen the text that Tharun sent to Mithra (status shown as unseen) and it's more than 3 weeks since then. Why didn't Nikitha ask Tharun did she reply or atleast call?

I know that they planned to go to cochin the same time as village but for 3 weeks no discussion on Mithras response?

Also Mithra replying after 2 weeks saying she was busy convincing his parents when he sent a text for breakup, doesn't it say a lot about relationship between Tharun and Mithra

Chapter 132 – The Village Reckoning

Jay reached the station sharp at 6 PM. Sudhagaran had already arrived at the railway station to pick him up. On the way back to the village in the car, Jay had spotted a familiar vehicle that resembled Tharun’s, but he ignored it, pushing the thought aside. They reached the village home at 6:20 PM.


Everyone received him warmly — relatives, neighbours, and old friends gathered around, some patting his back, others offering words of welcome. The courtyard was alive with the energy of the family function, lights strung up, music playing softly in the background.

Sudhagaran got him inside the house. Almost all relatives had assembled. The air was thick with chatter and anticipation.

Suddenly, Sudhagaran stepped into the middle of the crowd and raised his voice.

“Attention, all!”
The room quieted.

“Dear family members, I want to inform you about an important decision.”
He gestured toward Jay.
“Mapillai, Jay — come here.”
When Jay stepped closer, Sudhagaran continued with a sly smile.

“I have decided to marry off my second daughter.”
Jay’s face tightened. He pulled his hand back sharply.
“No, uncle. Don’t do it. I’m not ready.”

Sudhagaran laughed loudly, turning to the crowd.
“Look, people! This loser thinks I’m going to give my daughter to him!”

Jay started realising, Sudagaran has not changed, he is trying something to provoke him again. 
Laughter all around from people who always looked down on Jay.

“You all know what? This person’s wife has run away. I was supposed to marry off my first daughter to him — glad it didn’t happen.”

Jay’s father interrupted, his voice rising.

“Who gave you the right to shame my son and his wife? What did we do wrong to you?”

We understand, he didnt marry your daughter, but be careful you are just unnecessarily leaving out word on my daughter in law.

While Jay could not come up with a term thought what his father had been thinking about Nikitha, he could not open his mouth abut Nikitha. 
He felt like punching Sudagaran for speaking Ill on Nikitha. But he doesn't want to reveal so much on her. 

Sudhagaran smirked.

“Calm down. He came alone — ask him where his wife is. Will he answer? No. She is already sleeping with another man. They are roaming together, and she herself said this to me.”


Jay’s mother stepped forward, furious.
“You can’t spit venom just like that!”

“No, sister,” Sudhagaran replied coldly. “I want our father to see how unworthy Jay is.
He is trying to split and give his share of property to him? He doesn’t deserve it.”
How would i prove it?
By shaming and naming. 

Im doing that, our fathers hard earned money should not go to your son even if that is a penny. 

He turned to Sudhagaran and Jay's mothers father, his voice rising with venom.

Father, first he cheated our family by rejecting my daughter, ran off with a strange women.

Then i graciously went and got him home. But he was trying to extort money in name of loan.

May be Jay is exhibiting poor qualities of my sister and her husband.. may be he laughs... 

A sharp kick.

Sudhagaran fell to the floor.
Jay couldn’t tolerate it any longer — the way Sudhagaran was shaming his parents. He had punched him hard on the chin.

Jay understood everything, all sudagaran trying to do was to take all asset for himself. 

He realised, the first time he wanted to marry his elder daughter to him because, his grandfather would gave him the asset. 

Now he had got a better alliance for second daughter already, he tricked Jay once again to come and shame him before his grandfather so that he wont give him a share. 

“You asshole! If you want the property, just fall on my feet and my parents’. I will give it up. You are acting like a good man just to trick me into doing something like this? Shame me before the public? Ridicule me and use that to project me as worthless so you can take all the assets for you and your daughters? Is this what you have planned all the time?”


“I felt bad when Nikitha treated you badly, but now I realise how filthy you are. You don’t ever deserve decency.” Nikitha had been right you desever her treatment!


“Decency? You are teaching me? Your wife is roaming with someone and she is telling that to me on my face. Can you deny that? People, ask him where his wife is? She is not here. She won’t come here. You know what? She has already run with someone.”

He laughed mockingly.
Sudhagaran laughed through the pain, wiping blood from his lip.


Sudagaran roared to crowd, okay call me a greedy person, tell me i do all the things only for money. But can he prove he is not a shameless person, can you ask him to call his wife?

“Now who in the world will marry him? Forget the asset. My father will have decided it already. Okay, do one thing… Call and bring your wife. If she comes here, I will fall on your feet and give up all my cash to you. Are you ready?”

Jay’s voice was cold.

“I don’t need to prove my wife’s reputation for your greediness.”
Jay’s mother stepped in.

“Let him speak. But I will blame you on this. If you came along with your wife, will the scumbags like him speak?”
“Amma, that’s… that’s… she is actually busy,” Jay stammered.

His mother slapped him hard across the face.
“Whatever busy you are, you should have come with her. Look, she struggled to find the address.


“What do you mean?” Sudhagaran asked, confused.

How It All Began

Nikitha and Jay’s mother had been in touch for a long time.

His mother could not stop speaking with Jay — he was too self-honest and dignified a person. He had completely avoided speaking with them until he proved himself. But a mother’s heart? Could it really stay silent?

The last time Sudagaran had come and tricked him into that challenge, Jay’s mother had slipped a small piece of paper into Nikitha’s hand. It was nothing but her phone number. She feared Jay’s reaction, but Nikitha had been in touch ever since — monthly once they used to speak about progress and things.

Jay’s mother partially knew it was a marriage that came out of sudden necessity, not love (But she doesn't know its temproray).

Exactly a week before Sudhagaran reached Bangalore, Jay’s mother had called Nikitha. Nikitha had indeed told her that she and Jay were going through some fights (hiding that she was going to separate), but the information Jay’s mother gave her alarmed her.

She had overheard Sudhagaran and his wife speaking about calling Jay for the family function and instigating a family fight to make Jay look bad so he would lose his value before Jay’s grandfather. In that way, he would get the assets that the grandfather was supposed to give Jay.

The issue with the assets was that both were daughters born to Sudhagaran. The grandfather — an old man who didn’t believe in equal rights for women on assets — wanted to give his 50% share to Jay and the other 50% to the two daughters of Sudhagaran. This was the major trigger point for Sudhagaran to try marrying him to his elder daughter. But as Sudhagaran’s second daughter fell in love with someone from a rich family, he could not force it. So he decided to shame Jay with something — or plan something else.

Jay’s mother feared her brother would cause more damage to him and urged her to stay alert.
That was when Nikitha was caught in Sudhagaran’s eye.

Nikitha, who got alarmed the moment she was followed by Sudhagaran, devised a plan. She realised if she denied his doubt and allegation, she might not know what Sudhagaran would do next.

1. He would find a different reason that she or Jay’s mother could not figure out, which would harm Jay.
   
2. He would dig deeper about Tharun and her, which would again directly shame him. He would try to get hold of the truths behind the affair.
   

So she decided to announce herself that she was in an affair and she wouldn’t come. She predicted Sudhagaran wouldn’t dig anything further. He would think he didn’t need any effort or a new plan and casually bring the topic and shame Jay. In precise, he would feel comfortable, try to shame Jay without proof, that would get a chance for Nikitha to prove it a lie just by her mere presence.

It was already decided by Jay’s mother and Nikitha that even if she came along with Jay, she would pretend she didn’t come and hide somewhere and appear as a shocking surprise, thus nullifying Sudhagaran’s claims. Once it was nullified, no one would believe his nonsense.

All Jay’s mother and Nikitha had to do was wait until Sudhagaran mentioned he was doing all this for claiming the assets by himself.
But what they didn’t think was that he would make a bet that he would fall on the feet.

Nikitha smiled, recalling everything. Her smile was intoxicating.
“You… you lied to me?” Sudhagaran asked, stunned.

“Yes, I lied,” Nikitha replied calmly. “Jay’s mother overheard your plan of taking assets for yourself. We wanted the people to know the truth. So we waited. I lied to my husband that I had work, but came early here. My mother-in-law received me.”

She turned to the crowd, her voice steady and clear.

“I will leave this issue to grandfather to analyse, but as a daughter-in-law of this house, let me clear this: we don’t want any asset from you, dear grandfather. We have enough. We are content. My husband went to Bangalore, earned himself, built an empire for him. See here is the NOC — he indeed settled the loan. Is it not enough to prove his worth? My father-in-law never lived in anyone’s shadow. Even now he earns with agriculture. He didn’t depend on his own son. What else would we need?”

She held her hands like a prayer to the crowd and said, “It’s a family matter. Let’s stop here and continue with the function.”

Jay's father turned to his father in law and said, my daughter in law had said whatever i wanted to say. Her decision is mine. But with a bit more clarity, my son have me, his mother and now a wife, thats nothing before what you wanted to give, give everything to Sudhagaran, let him start living calm atleast from now. 

Sudhagaran felt shame. Grandfather realised his blunder. While Jay stood stunned, looking at what was unfolding before him.
