Adultery A Husband and Wife’s Playful Texts Turn Into a Complicated Affair
Chapter 108: Silent Presence

When Sharmi stepped back into the ward, she immediately noticed that Nikitha was no longer there. Jay was staring at the ceiling with a heavy, pained expression. A single tear slipped from the corner of his eye. Sharmi instantly believed, Nikitha must have said something carelessly something like choosing Tharun over Jay and hurted him.

Sharmi rushed to his side, gently wiping the tear away with her thumb
.
“Jay, stop worrying… Some people are truly unworthy. We may fight for them, but they should have the worth to deserve it.”
Jay looked at her, his voice weak but bitter. “So you know too? They crossed the line they should never have crossed…”

Sharmi nodded. “You shouldn’t stress too much. The doctor strictly advised against it.
You’re still recovering.”

Jay gave a hollow smile. “What could be more devastating than realizing what has already happened?”

Sharmi sighed. “It’s my fault for bringing her here in the hospital. You know what? I called them in the morning. They only arrived an hour after I called. I really wonder is that an emergency look like to her? she didnt even consider you important, this just say that. There was no panic on her face. No worry. She didn’t even ask how you were or if you were safe. She has turned completely heartless after going with Tharun. He has changed her.”

Jay closed his eyes for a moment. He said... “So… she recieved information first, and she called you and informed. You arrived first, she took another 1 hour after you call t o arrive here. What kind of message does that send? Is that all I’m worth to her after everything?”

Sharmi corrected him gently. “She didn’t call me, Jay.”
Jay’s eyes snapped open. “What?”

“Yeah. She didn’t even know about your accident.
I was the one who informed her in the morning. I hated doing it, but the doctor needed a signature from family, so I had to call her.”

Jay asked slowly, “Then how did you reach here so fast?”
“The hospital called me. They took my number from your mobile.”

A faint, knowing smile appeared on Jay’s face.
Sharmi frowned. “Why are you smiling?”

“You’re such a fool sometimes,”
Jay said softly. “You know why Nikki looked unbothered and showed no panic when you saw her this morning?”

Sharmi leaned in, curious. “Why?”

“Because she must have been here the entire night,” Jay replied with quiet certainty.
“Until you arrived, she was with me.
She made the hospital call you and then left before you came in.”

Sharmi looked confused. “How can you be so sure?”

Jay explained, “My phone has a passcode like everyone. Even if someone tried to make an emergency call, it would go to Nikki first. As soon as the accident happened, the people at the scene would have called her. She came here. She stayed with me the whole night — crying, sobbing, feeling guilty. Then, once the doctors confirmed I was stable, she made them call you and slipped away.”

Sharmi raised a doubt, what if they called her and instead coming here, she would have shared my phone number.
Jay said reasonable doubt but there is a catch here.

He continued, “When you reached here, was the treatment already done or still going on?”

“They had already moved you to the ICU and said you were stable when I arrived,” Sharmi replied.

“There we go,” Jay said, a mix of pain and relief in his voice. “Doctors won’t perform treatments without an attender. She was here. She made sure I was fine and then left.

Adding to this.. even if you feel, hospital had taken contact directly from my mobile like somehow cracking my mobile passcode, why would the hospital specifically call you out of all the contacts? They chose you because she told them to.”

Sharmi’s face slowly lit up with realization.
Both Jay and Sharmi exchanged a quiet, bittersweet smile.

Nikitha had never truly left him.
She had been right there — all night.

EQUALLING JAY WITH SURESH IS SO ABSURD.

HERE THE ISSUE IS DIFFERENT, I WONDER HOW MANY IGNORING JAY'S ISSUE?

WHY? JUST BECAUSE HE IS MALE?

HIS WOMENS HAS TO BE SINCERE AND LOYAL , TREAT HIM BETTER SO THATS WHAT A GOOD WIFE IS?

WHAT ABOUT BEING A GOOD HUSBANDS, HAS HE BEEN EVER A GOOD HUSBAND?

WHEN A MALE NEGCLECT WIFE, HAVE AFFAIR WITH OTHER WOMEN ITS NOTHING

BUT WHEN A WOMEN CHOOSE A LOVE FOR HER LIFE, PLANNING TO LEAVE RELATSIONSHIP WITH DIGNITY . SHE DESERVES HELL?

WHAT KIND OF MESSAGE ARE BEING PASSED.

Chapter 109 : Flicker of Hope

Sharmi’s face brightened with the new realization, but the optimism quickly faded. She grew alarmed and spoke carefully.
“Don’t get too much hope, Jay,” she said gently. “She herself declared to me that she is going with Tharun.”

Jay was visibly shocked. He had suspected they might have consummated their relationship last night, but hearing that she was openly choosing to leave him hit differently. It felt like the world had truly crashed around him. Fresh tears slipped silently down his cheeks.

Sharmi quickly wiped them away. “Jay, don’t worry. Its not the end, after what you said.
I wanted to rethink.
There may be a chance!

If she stayed with you all night, it means she still really loves you.
All we need to do is figure out a way to bring her back to you.”

Once we go back to home, you speak with her!
Speak with her when you two are alone!
Make her understand, make her realize her choices are wrong,
Only you can do that.

Jay gave a weak, bitter smirk. “How? She even left my house before the business trip.”

Sharmi leaned closer. “Yes, but she will come back to you once we return to Bangalore.”

“You don’t know her,” Jay replied, voice heavy with pain. “If she has truly determined to move on, she will. She cares for me — I understand that now. But that doesn’t mean she’ll go back to being her old self. Not after the kind of love Tharun is showing her. Look at how he acts — so understanding, even bringing her here to me. What a selfless display.  If she was still at my place, at least I would have had the opportunity to speak to her…”

Sharmi nodded slowly. But she is coming back to home, not going anywhere.

Jay looked confused, what? dont give me false hope.

No Jay just listen,

“I didn’t expect things to reach this point. Few minutes back, When the doctor said you need proper care, I made a strategic decision… I initially thought may be Tharun spinned some lie and i wanted you and Niki to get back at one place, that will sort out the differences naturally, with history of your togetherness. There must be love for sure.

At the same i took that decision without consulting you, its my way of recitfying damage i cause, i kind of caught into guilt, if i had informed her that i was married, she could not have left with Tharun. So its my remedy. The strategic plan made her to choose to stay at your house when we go back.

Jay looked at her curiously. “What how did you made her?

Sharmi explained her calculated threat — how she had used the doctor’s advice about needing constant care to pressure Nikitha into agreeing to stay with him for the next few weeks, she also explained the actual threat was that she will pin a lie and story that will damage everyone of us, plus a legal case on him, they had no other go, she agreed.

Initially i  thought she pretend to care, but its a good thing, now i realise you still have chance.

“Use those weeks wisely,” she continued. “Speak with her. Remember she may say she choose Tharun, but  Until they actually get married, there is always hope. From everything you’ve told me and what I saw just now… I think it’s going to be very tough for her to move on from you. She will return. But patience is the key.”

Love cannot see sufferings, it will guide her back.

A mild spark of hope finally flickered in Jay’s heart.

“Then the universe is finally hearing me,” he whispered.

Sharmi smiled with renewed hope. “Then stop worrying. Take this chance seriously. Be sincere. Prove yourself to her. Clear all the misunderstandings. Let’s hope for the best.”

Jay was not fully happy, but for the first time since waking up, a quiet determination appeared on his face. There was still a long, difficult road ahead — but at least now, there was a flicker of hope.

Chapter 110 : Return to Reality

A complete day had passed with nothing significant happening beyond hospital routines. They carefully maintained Sharmi’s version of events with the company and hospital staff. The next morning, Jay was discharged.

While Sharmi went back to the hotel to pack everyone’s belongings, Tharun and Nikitha returned to the villa to gather their own things.
Nikitha was visibly hesitant as she folded clothes. “Are you really okay with me going to Jay’s place?”
Tharun nodded calmly. “Not at all. But I understand.”

She turned to him, searching his face. “Don’t you feel insecure? Or scared? Jay and I are still legally married… Sometimes I feel like you’re overacting — trying to be too nice. It feels almost impossible… like something you’d only see in dramas.”

Tharun walked up behind her while she was still folding clothes.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her gently against his chest.
“Because I know you,” he whispered near her ear.

Nikitha turned her head slightly.
“What do you know about me? I thought you would say you trust me so much.”

Tharun smiled softly. “I do trust you. But that trust comes with truly knowing you.” He continued, his voice warm and sincere, “When you tried so hard to defend and honor a marriage that was born out of convenience and not love… I know you would honor a relationship you willingly promised yourself to even more. You never truly left Jay. You never gave up on him easily. Even now, you want to take care of him. You are not the kind of person I should doubt. I’m giving you the space, the respect, and the trust you deserve.”

He kissed the side of her head.
“We may not be married yet, but in my eyes, you are already my love. You are my wife.”

Nikitha was deeply touched. She turned fully in his arms and looked into his eyes.
For a long moment, she simply said, “I’m sorry… Let him recover first. I will slowly speak about the divorce. I wont prolong it.”
She made the promise with sincerity in her voice.

Tharun’s gaze turned hungry. Nikitha understood the shift in his mood instantly. She closed the distance between them and kissed him deeply. For ten solid minutes, she let him embrace her, devouring her mouth with passion and need. When they finally parted, she whispered against his lips, “I promise you… I will be yours from now on.”

He hugged her tightly, holding onto that promise.

That evening, everyone boarded the flight back to Bangalore. The journey was heavy with unspoken emotions. Tharun remained gentle, carefully avoiding any show of possessiveness over Nikitha in front of the others.

When they landed back in Bangalore, Tharun went to retrieve his car from the parking area while Sharmi got into hers. Tharun gently advised Jay not to drive in his condition, but Jay was stubborn and insisted on taking the wheel himself.

He had expected Nikitha to drive for him. Instead, she quietly chose to sit in Tharun’s car.

Tharun looked at her with slight surprise. “If he is not driving, why don’t you drive for him? Why are you sitting in my car?”

Nikitha sighed and replied honestly, “He is ill. We already gave him the option that we would transport him in our car, but he wanted me to drive him. it means he looks you like a villain, he doesn't want a help from you. Don’t I understand this simple thing? And more importantly… I don’t want to give him the feeling that I still love him and care for him the way I used to. I want to show him, you are important to me.  For the next few weeks, I have to stay with him and take care of his health and food. This is one of the only ways I can clearly tell him — don’t hope and get hurt. I’ve already chosen you.”

He and that dumb Sharmi are a team now, she would spout nonsense like she will make him think my care to love.

Let him take our help or let him suffer.

Tharun looked at her for a long moment, then nodded. “That’s fine. But he is still sick.

So you want him to suffer her, while on drive?

Nikitha said, no i didnt want to suffer him, let him just park the car and get into our car.

Tharun said, Don’t make things more complicated. Don't try to make me someone respectable before him, he will hate that idea, i appreciate the way you want me to be respected .. but don't act childish.. just see this whole scenario from his shoe.  He looks determined, with what you said, he wont come to our car.

And with you behaving like this, he would try to prove world he doesnt needs any ones help... and he will start driving the car to home.. What if he gets pain while driving? His elbow shouldn’t be moved. Go ahead and drive his car.”

Sharmi and Jay were watching their car from a distance. They saw Nikitha step out of Tharun’s vehicle and walk toward Jay’s car. She calmly asked Jay to move to the passenger seat and took the wheel herself.

Sharmi watched this development carefully as she followed them. Jay was determined not to let Tharun remain the “nicest guy” in anyone’s eyes. Not ready to take any of his help.

Nikitha had made her choice clear. She had choosen Tharun and she will make decisions that only benefit the one she choose. She doesnt want o give wrong idea to Jay and also she didn’t want Tharun to get hurt or be painted as the villain. The decision she had taken over the past few days weighed heavily on her heart, but she was done wavering. She wanted change. And she was determined to show it.

Sharmi, observing everything, finally understood — Nikitha was no longer someone who could be taken for granted. The Sympathy games may not help. She had become clear and firm about what she wanted.

But, Only Jay truly grasped the deeper meaning behind her actions. She had always given him space, always allowed him chances. He had misused them repeatedly. From the very beginning, when she allowed him into her life, it was because she had truly wanted him. That was why she had ignored so many red flags.

Now, as they reached home, Jay felt the full weight of that realization settle on his shoulders.

The challenges ahead had just become far tougher.

Chapter 111: First Night Home

The ride back to Jay’s house was silent and heavy. When they finally stepped inside, the familiar scent of the apartment hit Nikitha like a wave of memories. She pushed them down.

She helped Jay settle on the couch, then moved efficiently around the kitchen. She cooked light khichdi as per the doctor’s instructions, gave him his medicines on time, and adjusted the pillows behind his back so he could eat comfortably. Every action was careful, professional, and distant.
Jay watched her quietly. The way she moved in his house — like she still belonged there — gave him a painful kind of hope.
After dinner, as she helped him walk slowly to the bedroom, he finally spoke.

“Nikki… thank you for doing all this. I know you didn’t have to.”
She gave a small nod. “Doctor said you need care. That’s all.”

They ended up in the same bed that night. Jay lay on his side, his injured arm carefully propped up.
Nikitha kept a respectful distance, lying stiffly on her side of the bed.
After a long silence, Jay spoke softly, almost pleading.

“I know I made many mistakes. I took you for granted… I failed to show you how much you meant to me. But seeing you here, taking care of me like this… it reminds me of the old days. When it was just us. When we were friends first.”

Nikitha stayed quiet for a moment, then replied in a calm but firm voice.

“Jay… don’t. I’m here because you need help right now.
Not because things are going back to how they were.”
She turned slightly toward him, her eyes steady even in the dim light.

“I want a divorce. We should legally move on.
This marriage was never real. It was a convenience that went on for too long. I’ve already chosen my path.”

Jay’s face tightened with pain, but he didn’t argue. He simply nodded slowly, swallowing the lump in his throat.
The silence that followed was deafening.

Later that night, when Jay had finally fallen asleep, Nikitha slipped out of bed.
She walked into the bathroom, locked the door, and let the tears she had been holding back all day finally fall.

She sat on the cold floor, hugging her knees, sobbing quietly so Jay wouldn’t hear.
After a few minutes, she pulled out her phone with trembling hands and texted Tharun:

Nikitha:
It’s harder than I thought.
I told him I want a divorce. It hurts me
I miss you already…

She stared at the screen, waiting for his reply, tears still rolling down her cheeks.

Minutes later, her phone vibrated. It was a message from Tharun:

Tharun:
I’m on the way. Come to the upper floor. I’ll be waiting there in 10 minutes.

Nikitha felt a strange surge of strength. She wiped her tears, quietly left the apartment, and went upstairs to the upper floor of the house.
When she opened the door, Tharun was already there. The moment she saw him, she rushed into his arms. He hugged her tightly as she broke down completely, burying her face in his chest and crying without restraint.

Tharun held her close, one hand gently stroking her hair while the other rubbed soothing circles on her back. He kissed her forehead several times, his voice low and steady as he whispered against her skin.

“I’m right here with you. Every step of this. You don’t have to carry this weight alone. I’ll handle whatever needs to be handled — the legal side, the talks, everything. You just focus on getting through these weeks. I’ll make sure you don’t feel trapped or guilty. We’ll take it one day at a time. You’re not alone in this. I’ve got you.”

He continued comforting her with soft, reassuring words, promising his constant support and presence. His voice was calm, patient, and full of quiet strength.

When her sobs finally eased, Tharun tilted her chin up and kissed her deeply. The kiss was slow, intense, and filled with longing. His tongue danced with hers, tasting the salt of her tears as his hands gripped her waist possessively, pulling her body flush against his. For several heated moments, the world around them disappeared — only the heat of their mouths, the desperate need in their touch, and the comfort of being in each other’s arms remained.

When they finally parted, Tharun gave her one last soft kiss on the lips and a gentle smile.

“Go back now. Sleep. I’m always with you.”

Nikitha nodded, feeling lighter. She quietly returned downstairs, slipped back into bed beside Jay, and closed her eyes.

Despite the storm in her heart, she slept peacefully that night — wrapped in the quiet strength of Tharun’s promise.

If telling about divorce is hard…to a person you don’t love….

&

Getting comfort in arms of other man …just to prove your point….

Somewhere you are betraying yourself with fake promises also the other two…..

It seems more like an ego or stubbornness rather than love….

Knowingly courting someone’s wife….ensuring they get divorce….is cruel…even if it turns into love later….

So many emotions have been put into the story….unbelievable….amazing to say the least….

Continue dear writer….you are out of the world….

Hi bud,

I am that unwanted guest. Also, thank you. IYKYK.

I just wanted to highlight the term AFFAIR. While the dictionary may assign it several meanings, here it simply means extramarital affair. Funny how it eventually became a love triangle instead.
