I will also involve Nikitha's parents who will wholeheartedly support Jay in making Nikitha's life a living hell as a punishment for tormenting her parents as well as her husband who stood by her when she was at her lowest.

Nikitha will be fninshed emotionally, socially as well as financially. I will make her die out of starvation.

Chapter 51: Unwanted Guest

Nikitha and Tharun stepped out of the cabin together. The tension from their conversation still lingered in the air between them. Before they could say anything more, Sharmi appeared from around the corner, walking briskly toward them with a worried expression.

“Nikitha,” Sharmi said, glancing briefly at Tharun before focusing on her. “Have you heard anything from Jay? He hasn’t come for two consecutive days, and he didn’t even apply for leave. With Anjali suspended, her workload is falling on us. I’ve been asked to coordinate, but I don’t know where to begin — most of those modules were handled directly by Jay. You live right above him… do you know what’s happening? Can I come with you to check on him? I need to discuss a few urgent things.”

Nikitha’s stomach dropped

For years, no one from the office had ever come to their villa. The risk was enormous. First Tharun this morning, and now Sharmi wanting to visit for “work reasons”? Denying her outright would look suspicious and could spark even more gossip.
She forced a calm smile. “He’s down with viral fever. I’ll speak with him and try to connect you on a call. I’m worried his wife might misunderstand if another woman comes home suddenly.”

Sharmi thought for a second, then nodded reluctantly. “Okay… but please let him know it’s urgent. The circular about the new project deadline is approaching fast. Without Jay or any guidance from him it's a mess..”

Nikitha gave her a meaningful look and said i will inform him, we are heading for a client meet, i will call you tonight!. Okay? She left along with Tharun leaving Sharmi alone.

As Nikitha and Tharun walked out of the glass door at entrance, Sharmi stood at a distance, watching them quietly. She let out a deep breath, a mix of worry and reluctant acceptance on her face.
  • Lucky her… husband not around, she found a companion,* Sharmi thought to herself with a small smirk. Still, concern won over. She quickly typed a message and sent it to Nikitha.
Sharmi: Hope you remember all I said. I respect your choice and your needs, but dignity is above all. I don’t want to see people ridicule you the way they did Anjali. The office is already too jealous of your recent growth. Be careful, Niki.

Nikitha read the message while walking beside Tharun toward the parking lot. The words stung. She slipped the phone back into her bag without replying, her chest tightening.

Tharun drove them to a large, upscale shopping mall on the outskirts of the city. The evening crowd was moderate, and the bright lights gave the place a lively yet comfortable energy.

Instead of heading straight to any restaurant or quiet corner, Tharun surprised her. With a playful grin, he gently took her hand and pulled her toward the Fun Zone on the upper floor - an arcade area filled with colorful lights, laughter, and game machines.

Nikitha looked at him with a puzzle?
No Coffee? I thought we would sit calmly and speak more.

Tharun smiled, you are already stuffed too much in your head. Let's relax for a moment. I want you to forget all the heaviness and bring a lightness to you.

Nikki still looked at him unbelievably and not ready for when her mind was at storm..
“Come on,” he said, refusing to let her hesitate. “We’ve had enough serious talks for one day. Let’s make some memories.”

Nikitha was initially reluctant, but Tharun’s enthusiasm was infectious. He dragged her to the balloon shooting game - a colorful stall where players aimed soft darts at rows of balloons to win prizes.

Tharun paid for a round and handed her the dart gun with a cheeky smile. “Show me what you’ve got, senior engineer.”

At first, Nikitha laughed and missed most shots, feeling self-conscious. But Tharun stood behind her, gently correcting her stance, his chest lightly brushing her back as he guided her aim.

“Relax your shoulders… aim a little higher,” he murmured near her ear.

On her third try, she burst three balloons in a row. The stall owner cheered and handed her a medium-sized fluffy teddy bear as a prize. Nikitha’s face lit up with genuine delight — a rare, carefree smile that reached her eyes.

Tharun watched her, mesmerized. “See? That’s the smile I wanted to see today.”
They played a few more games — ring toss, basketball hoops, and a silly dance machine. Tharun won a small keychain with a tiny piano charm and immediately gave it to her.

“For the storyteller who secretly loves music,” he said softly.

For nearly an hour, they laughed like normal people on a date. No heavy talks about marriage, no guilt about Jay, no office pressure. Just lights, laughter, and small victories. Nikitha forgot, for a precious while, the complications waiting for her at home.

As they walked out of the Fun Zone, Tharun held her hand again, his thumb gently brushing her knuckles.

“New memories don’t have to be serious,” he said quietly. “Sometimes they can just be… fun. With someone who makes you smile.”

Nikitha looked at the teddy bear and the piano keychain in her other hand. A strange warmth spread in her chest.

She had completely forgot the storm.
The new moments etched well in her memory.

After 10 mins,
Tharun dropped her off a street before her villa, as promised. Before she stepped out, he gave her hand one last gentle squeeze.

“Take care of yourself, Nikki. And… Thank you for today.”

She smiled faintly, then hesitated. “Let the teddy bear stay with you,” she murmured, glancing at the plush toy still perched on the dashboard. “I cannot take it home.”
Tharun leaned back, a soft chuckle escaping him. “Let him be with me,” he replied calmly, his eyes twinkling with quiet affection. “:)

They shared a lingering look—warm, unspoken, and bittersweet. A small smile curved both their lips before Tharun finally let go of her hand. The car rolled away slowly down the street, its taillights fading into the golden dusk.

Nikitha stood there for a moment, watching it disappear around the bend. Her mind felt unbearably heavy, a storm of conflicting emotions swirling inside her chest. The day had been a whirlwind—laughter, connection, guilt, and something dangerously close to hope. She took a deep breath and began walking the remaining distance to the house.

As she approached the villa, her steps slowed. A familiar car was parked just outside, one she knew too well. Her pulse quickened. The main door was slightly ajar, a thin slice of warm light spilling out onto the porch.

Heart hammering, she rushed inside.

The sight that greeted her stopped her cold.

A woman stood in the kitchen area, moving with quiet familiarity. She was carrying a steaming cup of hot chaya and a small plate of lightly buttered bread toward the bed where Jay sat propped up weakly against the pillows. The setting sun’s rays poured through the open doorway and windows, bathing everything in a fiery orange glow. The woman appeared almost like a silhouette—graceful, backlit, her features blurred by the dramatic light.

Nikitha’s heart stuttered and then stopped for a painful second.

Years of marriage, and no other woman had ever entered this house. Not like this. Not in their space. Not caring for her husband.

Even though she and Jay had been at odds for so long… even though she had spent the day with Tharun, letting herself imagine what it might be like to be wanted again… a fierce wave of jealousy and possessiveness crashed over her. It hit her like a physical blow, sharp and undeniable. In that moment, all her new memories, all the careful distance she had built with Tharun, shattered. The sight of another woman near Jay reminded her, brutally, of how she still loved him.

Rage - hot, irrational, and protective - flooded her veins. She marched forward, fists clenched at her sides.

As Nikitha stepped closer, the sunlight shifted, and the reality hit her fully.
She froze mid-step after seeing the reality, the women, the storm of emotions freezing in her throat. The jealousy didn’t vanish instantly, but it twisted now into something more complicated—confusion, relief, and a lingering ache she couldn’t quite name. It was Sharmi.

The story is progressing nicely and is very well written.

That said, reducing the schedule to two chapters per day is a bit of a disappointment since many of us have become accustomed to getting five or six chapters daily. Still, we understand. Thank you for quoting conversations more often—the writing style has improved immensely, and I appreciate you implementing that suggestion. Overall, you're a master storyteller, and I'm enjoying your recent stories even more than the earlier ones. The last two stories, in particular, have been nothing short of phenomenal.

As for the latest chapters, the story seems to be heading in a very unexpected direction.

Why introduce Nikita's jealousy and her reaction to seeing another woman with Jay so early in the story—especially in their home rather than at the office? Seeing another woman in her place as Jay's wife gives her a glimpse of what replacement would actually look like. I expected scenes like this much later, as a way to make Nikita realize how deeply she still loves Jay.

Bringing such moments in now is concerning because it suggests that Nikita will gradually process the pain, jealousy, and emotional attachment she still carries for Jay, eventually overcoming them. If that happens, the story could move in a completely different direction where she slowly lets go of those feelings. Is that the intention? If so, then she would eventually be free to move forward without guilt, responsibility, or emotional baggage from her relationship with Jay. Is the author preparing the ground for Nikita to completely surrender herself to Tharun without hesitation?

If that's the direction of the story, bringing Jay and Nikita back together later would become a herculean task—assuming reconciliation is even the goal. If the ending is meant to be Nikita moving on with Tharun, accepting that Jay will be heartbroken but eventually heal with time, that would be Nikita's emotionless thought process and a cruel one. The remainder of the story could become fairly linear, with fewer twists and surprises.

What continues to confuse me, however, is one particular point that every character except Jay keeps repeating:

"It's not bad to admit that you truly loved someone. I did the same for Mithra. What matters after a point is whether that love is reciprocated."

1. Tharun's Argument About Unreciprocated Love

Tharun tells Nikita that when love is not reciprocated, people should move on.
But when did Nikita ever tell Jay that she loved him deeply?
In fact, she is only now beginning to realize how much she loved him throughout their marriage. How can she expect reciprocation when she never acknowledged those feelings herself until now?

What frustrates me is that she fails to recognize that Jay may have gone through a similar realization. While he was with Anjali, he may not have understood what Nikita truly meant to him. It was only after seeing her with Tharun and experiencing that pain firsthand that reality hit him. That's when he realized he loved Nikita all along.
The difference is that the moment Jay understood his feelings, he was open about them and expressed them honestly.

Can Nikita do the same?

2. "I Cannot Hate Him, But I Cannot Love Him Either"

Nikita says:
"That's the issue. I cannot hate him, but I cannot love him either after everything that happened. Even if Tharun had never entered my life, I think I would have still told Jay—perhaps at a later stage."

My question is:
What exactly happened that makes her feel this way?
Did Jay ever confess his love and then betray her with Anjali?
Did he mistreat her?
Did he exploit her financially?
Did he make promises he never intended to keep?

From my perspective, Jay did exactly what Nikita did.

Both entered the marriage under an agreement.

Jay honored that agreement. He simply failed to realize his feelings until much later—just as Nikita failed to express hers.
Nikita wanted the relationship to become something more than a contract, but she never communicated that desire openly. When she felt jealous seeing Jay and Anjali together, she kept those emotions to herself.
So whose fault is that?

When someone expects love, they must also be willing to express love. Since physical intimacy existed before emotional clarity in their relationship, neither could rely on that as proof of their feelings. Open communication was necessary, and Nikita never took that step.
Yet now she expects Jay to have reciprocated feelings he never knew existed.
And when Jay finally expresses his love, she refuses to believe him.

What confuses me even more is that once she realizes she still loves Jay, her instinct is not to pursue that love but to move away from it. She seems determined to choose Tharun despite acknowledging that Jay still holds a place in her heart.
That's a brutal decision.
At times, it feels as though she has become so determined not to love Jay anymore that she is actively resisting what her heart is telling her. If someone consciously chooses to suppress their feelings and steer their life in a different direction, there is very little the other person can do to change that.
At that point, the situation becomes almost impossible to recover from.
From my perspective, Nikita is dangerously close to destroying Jay emotionally and then attempting to build a new life with Tharun on the ashes of that destruction.

Participating in two parallel "challenges" involving two people's hearts is not a competition, nor is it a race. Eventually, if both men end up hurt, that responsibility will fall on Nikita.

Chapter 52: Hypocrisy at display

As Nikitha approached the house, she noticed a familiar car parked nearby. Her steps quickened.

The main door was slightly ajar. She rushed inside.

The sight that greeted her stopped her cold.

Sharmi was in the kitchen area, carrying a steaming cup of hot chaya and a small plate of lightly buttered bread toward the bed where Jay sat propped up weakly against the pillows. The setting sun’s rays poured through the windows, bathing everything in a fiery orange glow. Sharmi appeared almost like a silhouette — graceful, caring, backlit.

Nikitha’s heart stuttered. A sharp, irrational wave of jealousy crashed over her like a physical blow. Even though she had spent the day laughing with Tharun, winning prizes and making new memories, the sight of another woman — her own friend — caring for Jay in their home felt like a violation. Rage flooded her veins.

As Nikitha stepped closer, Sharmi noticed her and smiled warmly.

“Oh, Nikki! You’re back,” Sharmi said, sounding relieved. “I just rang the doorbell upstairs but no one answered. He was too weak — I found him almost fallen when I came down here. So I made some chaya and bread for him. Sorry if I overstepped.”

Nikitha forced a smile, but her fists clenched at her sides. The words Jay almost fallen did something in her head.
She moved instinctively toward Jay, her hand reaching out almost protectively before she caught herself.
Sharmi didn’t seem to notice the brief display of care.

“Why did you come here?”
Nikitha asked, keeping her voice steady. “I thought we agreed you would talk to him over the phone or something.”

Sharmi blinked innocently and pulled out her phone. “I got a new mail from the client this afternoon. The deadlines are really tight, and I found this address in the office records. I thought it would be faster to coordinate in person. First I went upstairs to meet you, and drag you here. but the door was closed. I Assumed you didnt yet come here.  So I decided to check down here directly.”

Nikitha’s jaw tightened. Before she could steer the conversation away, Sharmi continued casually, right in front of Jay, “These days you’ve been quite attached to Tharun.  Is everything okay with him? seems you too are progressing faster than i thought.

Jay shifted slightly on the bed, his expression tightening with visible discomfort. Nikitha felt a hot flush of awkwardness and panic. She signaled desperately to Sharmi with her eyes — not now, not in front of him.

Sharmi caught the signal and smiled smoothly. “Nikki, it’s our Jay here. He and Tharun are already a team. You both hang out in front of him — will this make any difference? Im speaking about new love birds before Jay”

Nikki was irriatted the way Sharmi behave right front of Jay.

Nikitha wanted nothing more than to settle her dresses properly at least, but the dress is in the shelf cupboard, she couldn’t risk moving things upstairs right now. Not with Sharmi here. It would dangerously expose the secret of their marriage.

Sharmi didn’t show any signs of leaving. Instead, she opened her laptop on the living area table and started working. “If Jay can give some inputs, I can coordinate with the team from here.” For the next few hours, Sharmi worked efficiently while Jay gave weak instructions from the bed. They had turned the space into an impromptu home office.

Sharmi glanced at Nikitha. “Why are you staying here, Nikki? Don’t you have work?”

“No you are alone with Jay right now, so I decided to stay,” Sharmi replied carefully.
“He’s a good man. You don’t have to worry about us. If you don’t have any serious work elsewhere, then stay.”

Minutes passed, When Sharmi was distracted in work. Nikitha slowly entered the bedroom area, took a simple nighty from the shelf and put it in her bag, and pretended to go upstairs.  She changed quickly and came back down, trying to appear normal.

“I’'m going to cook kanji for him,” Nikitha said, do you want anything Sharmi?.

Sharmi looked up curiously. “Where is his wife? Shouldn’t she be here?”
“She’s abroad for work,” Nikitha said, keeping her tone even. “She spoke with me, so I’m helping out.”

When the work finally wrapped up around 8:50 PM, the kanji was ready.
Sharmi stood up with a gentle smile. “I’ll take care of giving him the kanji.
You can go upstairs and rest, Nikki.”

Nikitha’s jealousy burned hotter. She stayed rooted in place, watching helplessly as Sharmi got closer to the bed and fed Jay a spoonful with careful, tender attention. The sight of another woman caring for her husband like this made her feel utterly helpless and furious.
After Sharmi finally packed up and left, Nikitha closed the door and leaned against it, breathing heavily. She turned back to Sharmi just before she stepped out.

“Why are you taking such extra care of him?” Nikitha asked, unable to hold it in.

Sharmi paused, looking surprised but innocent. “He is alone and weak. I just helped him — nothing else. A short form of thanking him for his help when i was working under his team.. he is a great mentor.”

But Nikki, i know what you think.. I'm not looking for the place of Anjali. That's not my cup of tea.

Once Sharmi was gone, Nikitha acted like she was heading upstairs, but quietly came back down instead. She saw Jay had already drifted off to sleep, looking pale and exhausted.

For a second, she couldn’t believe her own double standards. She had spent the evening laughing with Tharun, winning prizes, making new memories… and yet the sight of Sharmi caring for Jay had infuriated her more than she could admit. Even if Tharun attracted her — even if things went further — she knew she wouldn’t stop thinking of Jay. But seeing another woman near him? It tore at her in ways she couldn’t control.

What a hypocrite I am, she thought bitterly. The house felt heavier than ever.

Good update. Excellent like all other chapters.
I liked Honest Answer part, it cleared some mystery around Tharun. But I personally feel he's kind of in midlife crisis. He has a girlfriend but never were physical, suppressed his lust also. He seems to be in fomo.
But I am sure niki & tharun will together find true love.

I am also waiting to find answer to these questions.

How would you feel if niki out of guilt push sharmi and Jay together.
I was just kidding but sharmi is introduced as one of main characters so she has important role. Waiting to see how it plays out.

More than guilt her thoughts are towards jealousy so she couldn't bear another woman at this point getting close to Jay.Hence she was thinking herself as hypocrite right, that she herself is trying to move on but she loves Jay and cannot bear Sharmi in her place. So she is still at crossroads with her feelings. I do not consider Sharmi entering into the mix at this point a good sign for those who support Jay and Nikita at the end.

Which ever direction she takes from here on, its inevitable that one person will definitely gets hurt for sure...
