Chapter 159 - Midnight Promises on the Shore

The drive to Vizag had been long, yet strangely soothing. Ramya’s infectious energy filled the car as she danced in her seat to every song, pulling Sneha out of the dark spiral of her thoughts. For a few precious hours, Sneha laughed—really laughed—joining her daughter in silly off-key singing. The fear and anger that had been choking her slowly loosened their grip.

By 9 PM, they arrived at the luxurious private beach resort Aditya had arranged. The villa was breathtaking: elegant, spacious, with glass doors opening directly onto the sand. Ramya, thrilled but exhausted, barely made it through a light dinner before collapsing in the middle of the huge bed, her small body sprawled like she owned the world.

Suresh and Sneha stepped out onto the private balcony. The cool sea breeze kissed their skin, carrying the rhythmic hush of waves. For a moment, they stood in silence, side by side, the vast darkness of the ocean stretching before them.

“I have plans for tomorrow,” Suresh said softly, glancing at her. He was testing the waters, afraid she might explode if he went straight to what truly mattered. So he spoke of safe things—parks, a wildlife sanctuary, quiet beaches, and hidden viewpoints they could show Ramya.

Sneha listened quietly, nodding at the right moments. But inside, a storm was brewing. The image of getting lost in the crowd earlier that day still haunted her. In those terrifying seconds, she had felt the terrifying possibility of losing them—of losing everything. She didn’t want anger to steal what remained of her family. She wanted to scream, to cry, to fight, and to understand. Tonight. All of it had to end tonight.

When they had finalized the next day’s itinerary, an awkward silence settled between them. Suresh glanced back at the villa. Ramya was fast asleep. He didn’t want raised voices to wake her. Especially he doesnt want Ramya to hear any adult talks.

“Let’s walk outside for a bit.”

Sneha nodded. They slipped off their shoes and stepped onto the cool sand. Moonlight painted silver ribbons across the black water. They walked slowly until Suresh stopped near the gentle lapping waves.


He turned to her, his face open and vulnerable.

She crossed her arms, holding herself together.

The wound from his confession about Henika still throbbed inside her chest.



Suresh took a deep breath, his voice low and raw.


“I’m sorry, Sneha. I guess you totally misunderstood. 
What happened with Henika… it was never planned or happened with my wish.
I don't even know what is going to happen  even a 5 minutes before that. 
I swear on our life together.
I never wanted to do anything behind your back.”

Sneha’s jaw tightened. The words she had held back for days finally broke free.

“Drop the act, Suresh. You once asked me to be ‘magnanimous’ if you ever hooked up with someone. My suspicion then was just playful one. But you actually did it.”


“No, Sneha. That’s not—”


“I don’t know how I would prove it to you,” he continued, sounding desperate. 

“Let me call Aditya. He’ll tell you what really happened. 
He’s the one who pushed me into that room and locked me in with Henika.”

“Oh,” Sneha responded, her tone dripping with disbelief.

Suresh pressed on, his voice full of regret.

As he spoke he typed a message to Aditya call me when you got free, my wife is no believing what i told her.. that you pushed me...

She took a shaky breath, her eyes welling up.

No more doing things behind each other’s backs. Even if it’s hard. Even if it’s uncomfortable. We talk first. Don’t even lie to me. I’m ready to excuse your lie… but you must agree to it and come clean.”

At that moment, Suresh’s phone rang. It was Aditya. He hesitated, but Sneha signaled him to attend. Aditya quickly sent a CCTV clip and told him to put all the blame on him if needed, then hung up.


Suresh opened the video and showed it to her. The footage clearly showed Aditya announcing a “gift,” pushing Suresh into the room along with Henika, and locking the door behind him.

Sneha watched silently, then looked at her husband.



“So you didn’t initiate it. 

It was all Aditya’s idea,” 

she said, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. 

“A very good friend.”

“Do you believe me now?” Suresh asked softly.

Sneha sighed. “Still”

Suresh didn’t wait any longer. He pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest. He kissed her lips deeply. She faked a resistance but she allowed him..  After a long moment, he pulled back.

“Stop the drama, Sneha,” he said, though his voice was gentle. 

“What do you really want? 

Don’t you realise your anger is unwanted? 

I’m always yours, and you’re always mine. 

We chose different partners for sex, but at the end of the day, we come back to each other. In my case, I didn’t even choose. You know that.”

Sneha clung to him, her voice muffled against his shirt, half-angry, half-teasing.

“Yeah, you didn’t choose but you still fucked her.”

She held him tighter, tears soaking his shirt.

“I don’t want to be hurt anymore, Suresh. Please… just be open with me. Don’t do anything behind my back. Even if it’s difficult… Tell me everything. I can handle the truth. I can’t handle being made to feel small again. Don’t leave me out.”

Suresh nodded, stroking her back gently. They stood like that for a long time, wrapped in each other’s arms as the waves whispered nearby. The sea breeze carried away some of the pain.



She looked up at him, her eyes still wet but softer now.

“I love you,” she whispered.
