This is probably the most complicated character i have done in Blender.

And i have recorded and narrated every step in real time to make this course!

There is so much talking in this course that you will get sick of hearing my amazing English accent!

But let me tell you a bit about me.

I am Niko and i am 3D character artist and teacher with more than 20000 students in my courses of Zbrush, Blender, Anatomy and 3D character sculpting.

In this course we will make this 3D Female Armored Assassin from zero, only in Blender. The main purpose of this character is to be 3D printed or rendered, but the same techniques can be used to create 3D characters for games.

We will start by making the head, as always, a basic hair and then the body, with me giving some anatomical tips while sculpting.

Following will be the arms, hands and legs where we will also talk about forms, shapes and anatomy. Next we will do something extraordinary by making all the armors from single meshes, which i call 3D cketching, so we can better understand and translate the 2D forms from the concept to 3D.

When we finish all 3D sketches of the armors, we will start making the real armor meshes, by retopologizing the 3D sketches. It will be long and painful process, but at the end it will be worth the effort!

After every gold stripe and armor piece is ready, we can get to making the pose, we will do that by posing only the body, and then we will add and adjust all the armors and stripes after we are happy with the pose.

When that super relaxing and fun process is over, we can finish the hair with the curves, and do lights setup and materials to render our model.

This course is for intermediate Blender users, but beginners who are feeling very lucky and like to feel pain, can try it too :). Of course you can always start with one of my two Absolute beginners courses for Blender first, then some of my Anatomy courses, and then get back to this one :).

I am warning you that in this course there will be stories, drama, action, memories and lots of advices from this wise bearded man with one eyebrow! Even some songs here and there... sorry about that.

Translation produces meaningful versions of textual information. But what is a text? What is translation? What is meaning? And what is a translational version? This book On Translating Exploring Text and Semio-Translation responds to those and other eternal translation-theoretical questions from a semiotic point of view.
Dinda L. Gorlée notes that in this world of interpretation and translation, surrounded by our semio-translational universe "perfused with signs," we can intuit whether or not an object in front of us (dis)qualifies as a text. This spontaneous understanding requires no formalized definition in order to "happen" in the receivers of text-signs. The author further observes that translated signs are not only intelligible for target audiences, but also work together as a "theatre of consciousness" or a "theatre of controversy" which the author views as powered by Charles S. Peirce's three categories of Firstness, Secondness, and Thirdness.
This book presents the virtual community of translators as emotional, dynamical, intellectual but not infallible semioticians. They translate text-signs from one language and culture into another, thus creating an innovative sign-milieu packed with intuitive, dynamic, and changeable signs. Translators produce fleeting and fallible text-translations, with obvious errors caused by ignorance or misguided knowledge. Text-signs are translatable, yet there is no such thing as a perfect or "final" translation. And without the ongoing creating of translated signs of all kinds, there would be no novelty, no vagueness, no manipulation of texts and - for that matter - no semiosis.

This book formulates methods for modeling continuous and categorical correlated outcomes that extend the commonly used generalized estimating equations (GEE) and linear mixed modeling. Partially modified GEE adds estimating equations for variance/dispersion parameters to the standard GEE estimating equations for the mean parameters. Fully modified GEE provides alternate estimating equations for mean parameters as well as estimating equations for variance/dispersion parameters. The new estimating equations in these two cases are generated by maximizing a "likelihood" function related to the multivariate normal density function. Partially modified GEE and fully modified GEE use the standard GEE approach to estimate correlation parameters based on the residuals. Extended linear mixed modeling (ELMM) uses the likelihood function to estimate not only mean and variance/dispersion parameters, but also correlation parameters. Formulations are provided for gradient vectors and Hessian matrices, for a multi-step algorithm for solving estimating equations, and model-based and robust empirical tests for assessing theory-based models.
Standard GEE, partially modified GEE, fully modified GEE, and ELMM are demonstrated and compared using a variety of regression analyses of different types of correlated outcomes. Example analyses of correlated outcomes include linear regression for continuous outcomes, Poisson regression for count/rate outcomes, logistic regression for dichotomous outcomes, exponential regression for positive-valued continuous outcome, multinomial regression for general polytomous outcomes, ordinal regression for ordinal polytomous outcomes, and discrete regression for discrete numeric outcomes. These analyses also address nonlinearity in predictors based on adaptive search through alternative fractional polynomial models controlled by likelihood cross-validation (LCV) scores. Larger LCV scores indicate better models but not necessarily distinctly better models. LCV ratio tests are used to identify distinctly better models.
A SAS macro has been developed for analyzing correlated outcomes using standard GEE, partially modified GEE, fully modified GEE, and ELMM within alternative regression contexts. This macro and code for conducting the analyses addressed in the book are available online via the book's Springer website. Detailed descriptions of how to use this macro and interpret its output are provided in the book.
