Chapter 34 -- Continuation...
The flight home was quiet — the hum of engines and occasional announcements the only sounds breaking the silence between them. Nivi stared out the window, clouds drifting below like forgotten thoughts. Torn. Guilt gnawing, Prem's messages burning in her mind — his sudden change, the love pouring out when she had just... She glanced at Rohan beside her — calm, reading a magazine, as if the night hadn't shattered everything. She shook his hand under the armrest — small, hesitant. “We should stop.” Her voice barely audible. Rohan caught it — fingers curling around hers, firm but gentle. “Whatever you want. I’m with you.” No argument. No push. Just acceptance. The words eased and tightened at once. Airport arrival — bustle of Chennai evening. They collected luggage. Prem waiting in the lounge — sudden, unexpected. Spotted her. Kneeled dramatically — bouquet of roses thrust forward. "Nivi... welcome home." Passersby glanced, some smiling at the gesture. Nivi struggled to smile — face tight, forced curve of lips. Panic rising — heart pounding. She was not at all ready to face his face due to guilt but this... she doesn't deserve she know... He came... after everything.. that i should not have done..... She didn't deserve this — the flowers, the kneel, the hope in his eyes. Guilt crashed harder. But the moment she decided — anger as shield, to cover herself, avoid breaking in front of him. “Stop it, Prem… embarrassing…” Tone sharp — cutting, covering the tremor in her throat, the fear threatening to spill. She moved ahead quickly, eyes down, steps hurried. Prem doesn't know his wife’s infidelity with her colleague now — the nights, the touches, the surrender. He's beaming, thinking it's shyness. He stood, confused but beaming wider. “Car that way!” She turned back — to Rohan lingering with his bag, expression neutral. “How will you go?” Voice small, almost pleading — needing him there, buffer, safety. Alone with Prem — questions, closeness, guilt face-to-face — unbearable. Rohan calm, expression neutral. “Your husband came to pick you. Not his friend.” Prem flushed — pleased at the "friend" acknowledgment, warmth spreading. “No, no — both. Come!” Rohan nodded politely. “It’s okay. I’ll take mine.. You guys forget my car is parked there...” Nivi fearing — lacking confidence, body still remembering touches, the ache between thighs, mind spinning lies to hold together. Alone with Prem — the drive, the home, the bed they shared. She wanted Rohan to accompany her at least until home — delay the reckoning. As Prem went to parking... Rohan leaned close, voice low, urgent — breath warm on her ear. “It’s up to us — show or hide.” “Your face, body language — tells everything wrong.” “Be yourself. I’m just colleague. We just coming after a business meet.” “Forget things that bothering your mind. Consider our sex as a dream.” “Tomorrow we have meets with new clients. Meet tonight — dinner table. Keep the files ready.” Focus on your career — that's the only way to distract yourself until you choose to practice handling personal chaos. He walked away — stride confident, disappearing into crowd. Prem’s car pulled up. Nivi got in. Bouquet heavy on lap — thorns pricking through paper, unnoticed. Prem smiling wide — hopeful, loving, chatting about Aara, dinner plans. She forced one back — tight, mechanical, eyes on the road. Drive home began. Silence from her. Rohan, meanwhile, boarded his Mercedes in the airport parking — driver holding the door, engine purring softly. He settled in the back seat, phone already in hand. Dialed a number from memory. The person on the other side answered promptly. "Yes, sir." Rohan's voice low, precise. "Check all the agreements... files at Nivisha's office. Before madam comes in tomorrow." A brief pause. "Look for any identity proof of mine — passport copy, PAN, anything with my birth date." "Make a duplicate. Backdate it to yesterday as my birthday." The person hesitated. "Okay, sir... but why, sir?" Rohan gazed out the window, city blurring past. "Someone believes it was my birthday yesterday. They should not know I lied." "Especially Nivisha." He ended the call — sharp click. Leaned back. A small smile. The web tightening. Carefully. Perfectly.

Chapter 35 – The Surprise Dinner
The car pulled into the penthouse garage, the evening light fading over Chennai, casting long shadows across the concrete. Prem rushed ahead, eager, while Nivi stepped out slowly, opened the door to take her suitcase in hand. Her body still carried the ache from the morning's passion — a deep, secret soreness between her thighs, a reminder that made every movement conscious. Mind a storm of guilt and confusion — Prem's messages, his change, the night with Rohan all colliding. Prem was waiting in the living room — smiling wide, Aara on his lap, both holding a small plate. A sweet — homemade gulab jamun, slightly misshapen but warm, syrup glistening. Prem stood, proud. “Surprise! I made this for you.” Nivi froze. Couldn’t meet his eyes. Guilt heavy — crushing, like a weight on her chest. Rohan’s words echoed in her mind: Distract yourself with work. Keep yourself stronger than ever. Her voice came out small, forced. “Thanks…” Prem felt something odd — a flicker in her expression. He couldn’t tell what. Earlier, he used to doubt everything. Now, he wanted to trust. But she behaved… distant. Cooler than expected. She went in — changed to night dress quietly, movements mechanical. Moved all files to the dining table. Remembered Rohan: Career is distraction. Opened laptop. Accessed information about new clients. Started preparing presentations — focused, deep, fingers flying over keys, mind forcing itself into numbers, strategies. Prem watched from the doorway — silent, a bit hurt. Realised she was too focused. All his sudden love displays — she might take time to warm. It’s not perfect to eat her time for his need. He quietly moved away — giving space. 9 PM. Prem: “I have a surprise.” Nivi looked up from screen. “What?” He smiled wide. “I prepared dinner myself. For my love.” Nivi didn’t want to sound strange — distant. “Oh… you’re surprising me so much today.” Forced a smile — tighter than before. Walked with him. Sat at the dinner table — candles flickering softly, Aara giggling beside. Simple spread — rice, sambar, vegetable curry, his effort clear in every dish. Nivi saw them — Aara excited, Prem beaming with pride. Love. Pure. What have you done, Nivi…? She questioned herself — silent, throat tight. Within minutes — Rohan arrived. Keycard beep at door. He stepped in — casual shirt, file in hand. Thought it was his luxury apartment. But Prem, Nivi, and Aara had turned it into their home — toys scattered, dinner smells filling air. Rohan now sounded like a guest… but he was the owner of the house — and hours ago, he had owned Nivi’s body, even now the memory fresh. “What a surprise,” he said, casual, smile easy. Prem stressed, welcoming. “Come, my friend. I made something special for Nivi.” Rohan joked lightly. “Okay then, I’ll eat elsewhere.” Prem surprised — Rohan joking with him. He’s not usually like this… Rohan, reading thoughts, quick recovery. “Prem is new. Feels energetic, lovely — remembering my college days. See, he changed me.” Spoke looking at Nivi’s face — subtle challenge in eyes. Nivi forced a smile — thin, eyes dropping to plate. She said, “Rohan, the files you asked are ready. I’m sorry — feel very tired. Should we submit tomorrow or postpone?” Rohan back to business mode — sharp. “This is why I was never friendly. No matter what — this has to be done tomorrow.” He looked at plate — joined anyway, casual. Went out for a cigar later — terrace, alone. Prem looking at tense situation — thought they’re in business mood. Nivi quickly finished dinner and took Aara with her to the small room. After Nivi made Aara sleep — spent more time today, hugging extra, reading stories longer, kissing forehead repeatedly. Came back to bedroom. At 10:30 PM. Searching something to cool her — mind. In bed. Prem apologised softly. Asked her to forgive him — past years. She cried — literally, tears sudden. Prem asked, concerned. “What happened? Did I say anything wrong…” She pulled back slightly. “Nothing… I wish you were like this earlier…” Prem shocked. “What if I was like this earlier?” Nivi made up — voice steadying. “I would have started business earlier… we’d be settled now.” Changed narrative — safe. Prem: “Yeah, you’re right. But nevertheless, it’s not late.” He came to hug — warm, hopeful. Brought lips on her — gentle, loving. She allowed. Responded — soft at first. But as she closed eyes — mind painted only Rohan. His touch, his intensity. Not Prem. Shocked — broke the kiss abruptly. “Sorry… tired. Maybe sometimes later.” Prem: “Okay…” Disappointed but understanding. But Nivi just said no to kiss. She was not in any mood for sex..She also fears if he would find out something if they make love... Prem never had it in months.. But she thought after all love displays he would expect it — didn't want to hurt him. So she hugged him tight. She also need this for the guilt to evade soon. Forced her head on his chest. Tear drops silent. Slept instantly — exhaustion claiming. The place where she belonged too… Prem felt a victory — small, warm. This is enough. Only at this moment he realised it has been years they were like this.. He thanked Pratap silently for guiding him right. Adjacent room. Rohan looking at the wall — listening faintly through thin luxury walls. Thinking about next plan. He knew Nivi won’t be easy anymore. Needs more plan. More manipulations. To get her back with him. How… Phone rings. Call displayed — Aadhil. Rohan instantly picked. Rohan: “Hey Aadhil, my dear partner. How are you?” Aadhil: “I’m good. How do you do, man?” Rohan: “I’m good. What a surprise. What’s up, buddy?” Aadhil: “It seemed you are forging your documents. My intel my spy... told me... What, partner — trying to cheat me?” Rohan laughed low. “Moodra patti… How will I cheat you?” Aadhil: “Then who are you cheating?” Rohan: “Someone special…” Aadhil: “Adipoli… when are you going to introduce to me?” Rohan: “Soon.” Aadhil: “No way — send it now.” Rohan: “Wait, partner. Let me send you.” Sent an image — them in a meet. Then alone — Nivi in red kurta, glowing. Aadhil: “She is gorgeous…” A minute of silence — Aadhil’s finger tracing her shapes on phone, breath audible. Rohan: “Are you there?” .....

Chapter 36 – A planned Normalcy
Rohan waited, phone to ear, the penthouse quiet around him. “Are you there?” he asked finally, tone edged with impatience. Aadhil’s voice came back — low, amused, a hint of breathlessness. “Yeah…” Rohan’s tone sharpened, protective steel underneath. “Take your dirty finger away from my woman.” Aadhil laughed — surprised, genuine, the sound rich and familiar. “How did you know, man? Installed spy cameras?” Rohan: “We’ve been friends in business for ten years… and it’s much more, we know, right? Won’t I know about you?” Aadhil laughed again — louder, surrendering. “Sorry, man. I take back my fingers.” Rohan: “Good for you. Only if you behave, I’ll give intro to her. Treat your sister-in-law good.” Aadhil: “Okay, brother. What’s next?” Rohan: “Nothing. Some drag in my plan — unseen, unforeseen. Need to clear obstacles.” Aadhil: “You used to give me ideas. How can I help, whatever the matter is. Take care.” “Just got curious about faking…” Rohan: “It’s temporary.” Aadhil: “Got it. Good night, buddy. Let’s meet soon.” Rohan smiled — small, satisfied. Said bye. Ended the call. Aadhil was his partner. Friend. Brother. All. Not fake — real. He covered Rohan’s shady business — the edges that needed discretion. While Aadhil converted Rohan’s good business income — doubled, tripled it through clever channels. For their families — these two men were innocent on the surface. Husbands. Fathers. But they knew how to make money. And much more. They went to any extent for fun when together — the old days, wild nights, shared secrets. Ever since marriage — both — their meetings reduced. Just phones. Banking updates. Casual visits with families — polite, surface. Rohan got his idea from the call. Aadhil from Kerala. His family there too. Why not go there? Give space to Nivi... one way to get back her attention... Instead of being a burden here — why not visit Kerala? Move away from Nivi. Give her time. Let her miss me. The pull stronger in absence. Rohan thanked Aadhil his mere phone call gets him an idea... The next day. He packed quietly — suitcase light, essentials only. Called Nivi — professional tone, no warmth leaking. “Emergency at home. Out for a week. Take care of business things.” Nivi surprised — also shocked. "Why leaving now? What happened?" Rohan paused, voice steady. "It's personal. I wanted to share, but not the right time." Then, lower, checking Prem wasn't around: "Also, this is best I can do for you.. I'm giving space for recovery.. I'm near you, it's a burden.. Take care, Nivi.." She was about to say no.. you are not a burden.. but before she speak.. Rohan walked away, Nivi couldn't understand him fully — but thanked him for being way better than she thought. Rohan leaving to Kerala, the smartest thing he did. Prem didn’t have chance to suspect off-minded Nivi. Business ate her time — meetings, pitches, numbers. Her awkwardness gradually dropped — mask strengthening. Gave her ample time to get back on feet — charm, calm, steadiness returning. Rohan gone. Space. But the pull — still there, quiet but persistent. Prem still didn't get his chance in bed — he knew the work pressure without Rohan, realized his need for presence and work. Didn't overflow with love things and trouble. This gave her ample time for self-recovery. The bed, her love for Prem — left just in hugging and some kisses. But it evolved to normal. She listened to his words, responded, replied, laughed, chatted. She was happy with this — surface peace. The second week too, Rohan missed. Nivi thought Rohan said one week but its 2 week so far... She called him — curious, missing his presence in the company and home. He said he would be back soon but asked her not to worry as things in control. She kind of missed him. If not for sex — he was her guide, mentor, good friend. At times she thinks — maybe as Rohan said, I should not mix pleasure and love? She quietly getting prepared to be practical... Her awakening just inches away. But she is not yet ready to accept it. And on one Thursday... While she deep into computer — files, presentations, numbers blurring. Rohan's voice appeared behind her — unexpected, warm. "Long time, Madam.. how's the business going..." This was the first time in weeks. There was a warm smile that came from Nivi towards Rohan — involuntary, genuine. Rohan calculated it. Got the result. The space worked. She missed him. The pull stronger. Control — slipping back to him.
