Detective Board

Srinu sat down on the edge of the bed, Ganga’s diary heavy in his hands. His eyes lingered on the last line of the current page:

“Hello? This is Constable Sundari. Who is speaking?”

He stared at it in silence.

Did Ganga actually tell Sundari about Javed after he left the house? Srinu's heart thumped against his chest. He needed to know. He needed closure.

He eagerly turned to the next page, expecting a continuation of the conversation between Ganga and Sundari.

But what he saw next… left him confused.

The page wasn’t about Sundari. In fact, it had nothing to do with that night or Javed at all.

In fact, the entry was about the day when Srinu first learned about the diary, the day when Srinu hid behind the wall to catch Ganga with the auto wala but found out about Ranga the thief.

Where was the rest?

Srinu flipped back and forth between the pages in growing panic. Something was wrong.

He noticed how the diary didn’t make sense. The timeline was off. Pages were missing.

He held the book closer to his face, inspecting it carefully—and that’s when he saw it.

Torn edges. Jagged. Fresh. Pages had been ripped out.

A chill ran through him. His breath caught in his throat.

“No… no no no…”

Srinu slammed the diary down on the floor. It hit the tiles with a heavy thud.

Srinu (shouting): “Fuck! How the hell am I supposed to know what happened now? What happened to Ganga? How the hell did she become Ranigunj ki Randi Rani!?”

His voice echoed in the room. His fists clenched. His temples pulsed.

That diary—his only link to what Ganga went through during those missing three weeks when he was lying unconscious in the hospital—was now useless.

He sat back in his chair, completely lost.

His eyes drifted to his phone lying beside the diary. It lit up with a soft buzz. A spam message.

He ignored the message but noticed the time: 8:24 PM.

Had he really been reading so long?

Time always seemed to blur when he was lost in Ganga’s writing. The pain, the guilt, the vulnerability in her words—he felt every word burn into his skin.

His thumb hovered over the phone screen. That’s when he noticed Ganga’s picture as his wallpaper. Her smile. That innocent, beautiful smile.

It always used to make him happy.

But now?

Now it only brought a deep ache… and more questions.

Even though he felt lost, disappointed, and heart-crushingly saddened, deep down in his heart, the love and care for Ganga made him question whether she was alright, as she was traveling alone in the bus to her village.

It rang.

No answer.

Srinu frowned and called again.

While the call rang, his eyes shifted to the diary lying on the floor, splayed open in defeat.

But then… something caught his eye.

A small piece of paper… peeking out from the inside cover.

He cut the call mid-ring, bent down and picked up the diary again.

There it was.

Tucked between the cover and the last glued page—a folded note.

He pulled it out carefully.

It was a piece of torn paper with a phone number scribbled on one side.

Srinu turned it over.

His breath hitched.

Written in hurried handwriting:

“Constable Sundari.”

That was it.

That was the answer.

The moment when Ganga called Sundari after Javed left… and suddenly all the pages involving Sundari were gone?

Something about Sundari didn’t feel right.

Srinu remembered clearly what Ganga wrote about her before:

The way Sundari touched her, how her fingers lingered just a little too long.

The way she seduced Ganga when she first meet in the hospital

And now, conveniently, everything about her was gone.

Srinu knew deep in his gut—Sundari knew what happened.

She had to.

She was the only one Ganga reached out to… and then… silence.

Srinu clutched the paper. He had to talk to her. That was the only way to find out about the 3 weeks.

But just as he started to dial…

A voice exploded in his head..

Yang (shouting in anger): “Who the hell is this new lady now?! We need to talk! How many more people do we need to follow, spy, and talk to?! How much more proof do you need to know that Ganga is a whore?! Like I already said, we have video proof. Let’s kill her already!”

Srinu snapped back, jaw clenched.

Srinu (growling in frustration): “I told you already! It’s not just about Ganga. I want everybody involved in this!”

Then came the calm, composed voice.

Yin (softly but firmly): “Srinu is right. We need to know what happened. We should talk to Sundari. She’s the only clue to those missing three weeks.”

Yang scoffed loudly, completely annoyed.

Yang (rolling his eyes): “Sundari? Priya? Who is it again? I’m so confused! This is getting so fucking complicated! I can’t keep track of them anymore!”

Yin gave a subtle nod, understanding but persistent.

Yin: “Yes, Srinu… it is getting complicated.”

Srinu took a deep breath, closing his eyes.

Srinu (with quiet resolve): “I know. I need to simplify things... if I’m going to understand what really happened.”

Yang (curtly): How do you plan on doing that?

Srinu looked up, eyes burning with determination.

Srinu: “I think I have an idea.”

Without another word, he grabbed the diary and the note, pocketed his phone, and walked out of the bedroom.

He headed downstairs to his office room, a new plan already forming in his head.

srinu pushed the door open and stepped into his office. Srinu grabbed a handful of markers and a stack of sticky notes from his desk drawer.

Srinu walked to the whiteboard in the far corner. This whiteboard was usually covered in my work — clean lines of code structure, algorithm flows, branching decision trees.

But not tonight.

srinu flipped the board over, revealing its plain brown cardboard backside.

srinu began scribbling furiously on the sticky notes — names, events, places — and started pasting them randomly across the board.

Then srinu stepped back, squinting.

Srinu (muttering to himself): “No… this isn’t clear enough…”

srinu tore away several notes, rewrote them with more precision, stuck them back up… then repeated the process again and again until srinu felt something click in my mind.

Satisfied, srinu grabbed a coil of red repair wire from my toolbox.

One by one, srinu began connecting the sticky notes with the red wire, making it look like an old-fashioned detective board — each wire a thread between people, events, and unanswered questions.

Finally, srinu stepped back and looked at my work. His chest rose and fell slowly. srinu nodded to himself.

Yang (mocking tone, half-laughing): “Now what is this new gimmick?”

Yin (snapping at Yang): “Oh, shut up, Yang. Srinu is trying to simplify the investigation. Isn’t that right, Srinu?”

Srinu (still staring at the board):

“Yes… I’ve divided the investigation into three parts. It’s going to make everything a lot simpler.”

Yang (confused): “I’m still confused.”

Yin (smirking): “No surprises there.”

Yang (angrily): “What do you mean by that, Yin?”

Yin (flatly): “I meant… if you could get over your anger for once and actually think, you’d understand.”

Yang (sarcastic): “Oh, Yin… if you’re so smart, please, enlighten me.”

Yin (patiently, explaining): “Alright. Listen carefully. Srinu has divided the investigation into three parts:

1. What happened in Ganga’s childhood?

2. What happened in the three weeks when Srinu was in the hospital?

3. What happened at Adda?”

Yang hummed absentmindedly as Yin spoke, trying to follow along.

Yin (continuing): “Now… to answer each question, we need to talk to different people.

For #1 — Ganga’s childhood — we talk to Priya, Ganga’s childhood friend.

For #2 — the missing three weeks — we talk to Sundari.

For #3 — Adda — we talk to Swathi.”

Yang (after a pause, narrowing his eyes): “I have only one question… why?”

Yin (confused): “Why? Did you not understand what I just said? Do you want me to explain again?”

Yang (irritated): “Oh please, Yin. I understood just fine. What I don’t understand is… what’s the point of all this?”

Yin fell silent. No comeback this time.

After a long pause, I spoke.

Srinu (voice heavy, almost breaking): “Because I loved her. I want to know if she actually loved me. And if she did… I want to know what made her do this. Did she do it willingly… or was she forced?”

Yang exploded with laughter.

Yang (laughing loudly): “Are you serious right now? Did you not see the video of her getting fucked in the construction building on the night of the attack? She went back for a second round on her own! What else do you need?!”

The video flashed in srinu's head — Ganga signalling to Chacha and Javed to join her in bed. His heart twisted. srinu lowered my head, voice cracking.

Srinu: “…It’s not just her. I want to catch everyone who was involved.”

Yang (snapping): “Oh please, Srinu. Maybe you forgot because so much has been going on — but Javed and Chacha are dead. That’s why they closed the case. Remember?”

Srinu: “Yes, I remember. But you might have forgotten… she still went to Adda after their deaths. She went with that autowala to Ranigunj. She didn’t stop. There must be someone else involved.”

Yang (coldly): “I don’t care about the others. I only care about what Ganga did. Just kill her already.”

Srinu (calmly): “I will kill her. But I want to catch her red-handed… and look her in the eye when I do it.”

Yang finally went quiet.

After a few moments of silence, Yin spoke.

Yin: “So we have a plan. But, Srinu… where do you want to start?”

srinu studied the board for several seconds. he eyes locked on Sundari’s phone number.

Srinu: “I think I should start where the diary abruptly stopped. Tomorrow morning, I’ll call Sundari and ask her what happened next.”

Yin: “I don’t think it’ll be that simple… especially if she’s involved. You should follow her and get information without her knowing.”

Yang (scoffing): “How the hell are we supposed to do that?”

Srinu: “I can get her location if she’s still using this number. But finding out what happened in those three weeks without her knowing… that’s another game entirely.”

Yin: “We’ll figure that out later. What about Adda? Whats the progress with swathi”

Srinu: “I’ve already made ways with Swathi. I wi—”

Yang (mocking, laughing): “Yes, yes… we know you ‘made ways’ with Swathi by drinking her urine behind the chat stand. Hahaha!”

The memory hit me hard — the way Swathi looked, so hot, squatting and peeing behind the stand. srinu could still taste her pee in his mouth. His cock twitched just remembering it. But shame followed just as quickly, and he lowered his head again.

Yin (snapping at Yang):“Oh, shut up, Yang. Now’s not the time. Anyway, Srinu repented and said he’d never do it again”

Yang (disappointed): “But why? She’s so hot. We should do it again and again.”

Yin ignored Yang and kept the focus.

Yin: “Alright. Adda is handled by Swathi. How will we find out about Ganga’s past from Priya?”

Yang (mocking again): “Oh, Srinu… tell me the truth. You just want Ganga’s past so you can know if Priya and Ganga did more than just kissing. Remember, Priya was Ganga’s first kiss.”

Srinu froze. The image from Ganga’s diary came back — her soft lips pressing against Priya’s. The thought of it gave srinu a raging hard-on instantly.

Yang (laughing hard): “I knew it!”

Before srinu could say anything, his phone rang, cutting through Yang’s laughter. At first, srinu thought it might be Ganga returning his missed calls… but to his surprise—

It was Priya.

Srinu’s phone buzzed. He lifted the call.

Srinu (calmly): “Hello?”

On the other end came Priya’s sultry tone.

Priya (voice low, almost teasing): “Hi Srinu, where are you?”

He already had a hard-on from thinking about Priya and Ganga. Hearing Priya’s seductive voice only made it worse.

Srinu (trying to sound casual): “Ah… at home. What’s the matter?”

Priya: “It’s nothing. Ganga called me this afternoon and told me you weren’t coming to lunch. She also ordered me to invite you for dinner.”

Srinu hesitated, his eyes falling on the investigation board in the room. This could be the perfect opening to learn about Ganga’s past from Priya.

Sensing his hesitation, Priya spoke again.

Priya (half-pleading): “Srinu, please come to dinner. If Ganga finds out you slept on an empty stomach, she’ll kill me.”

He accepted the invitation.

Priya (warmly): “Thank you.” Click — she ended the call

Srinu slid the phone into his pocket, grabbed his bike keys, locked the main door, and rode off into the night.

He parked outside and heard a voice behind him.

Raju: “Namaste, sir.”

Srinu (turning, politely): “Namaste.”

The man introduced himself as Raju, the night watchman.

Srinu could make out that raju was straight out of Bihar, you could tell from his accent the moment he opened his mouth. He worked nights as a watchman, so his eyes always had that half-sleepy, half-alert look. Short in height, skin the shade of roasted brown, and a wiry build that hid lean, ropey muscles — the kind you get from lifting bricks, not dumbbells. His jaw moved almost constantly, chewing gutkha, the crimson juice often staining his teeth and the corners of his lips.

They walked together to the main door. Raju knocked, calling, “Memsab!”

A few seconds later, Priya opened the door, smiling widely. She looked sizzling in a sleeveless saree.

Priya: “Srinu!”

Srinu (returning the greeting, distracted): “Hi.”

His eyes locked on her breasts, the perfect curve of her cleavage.

Inside his head, Yang’s mocking voice rang out:

Yang (teasing): “Srinu, don’t act like this is the first time you’ve thought about Priya this way.”

Srinu silently admitted Yang was right — ever since reading in Ganga’s diary about her kiss with Priya, he had been turned on by her.

A male voice interrupted his thoughts.

Ashok (extending a hand): “Hello, Srinu!”

The man was Middle-aged. He was stout, with a little belly poking out just enough to make you think he enjoyed his food and drink. Average height, skin pale enough to stand out in a crowd here, and thick, dark hair. His face had this mix of calm confidence and sly calculation, the kind that made you unsure whether to trust him completely.

Snapping back, Srinu shook the man’s hand.

Priya: “As you know, this is my husband, Ashok.”

Priya (smiling): “Oh, Srinu, you’re finally here! It’s already past 9 PM, and I’m feeling sleepy.”

She raised her arms in a big yawn, revealing smooth baby armpits with cute folds, soft arms, and cleavage that nearly spilt free — right next to her husband and in front of both Srinu and the watchman.

Srinu’s eyes roamed every inch, his mind going wild, replaying Priya and Ganga kissing — only this time in his fantasy, they scissored, tasted each other pussies, and sucked his cock before swapping his cum between their mouths.

A hard-on pulsed between his legs, this time in front of others. He glanced at the watchman — the man was also trying to hide his erection. Srinu worriedly saw towards priya's husband, ashok. Ashok, however, just smiled.

Priya slowly completed her yawn and put her hands down. Priya’s eyes flicked downward, catching both men’s awkward attempts to hide themselves. She giggled.

Priya: “Watchman, go get cold drinks from the shop.”

Raju left, and Priya turned to Srinu.

Priya: “Srinu, please come in.”

Srinu stepped forward, still struggling to hide his erection. His bike keys slipped from his hand and clattered to the floor. He bent to retrieve them — and so did Priya. Their eyes met mid-bend.

His gaze slid to her cleavage, her breasts nearly spilling out of her blouse. His jaw fell open. She caught him looking and smiled naughtily, grabbing the keys first.

They straightened up together. Srinu glanced nervously at Ashok — but the man still smiled.

Srinu: “Thanks for picking them up.”

He extended a hand for the keys, but Priya surprised him. She stepped forward and slid both the keys and her fingers into his pants pocket, brushing lightly over his hard cock before withdrawing her hand while srinu was still staring at her boobs.

[Image: FQDFOes.gif][Image: FQDFSLl.gif]

Priya (mischievously): “Do you want to drink?”

Srinu (startled): “What?”

Priya: “Coffee or tea?”

Srinu (hurriedly): “No thanks, I don’t drink coffee or tea.”

Priya (tilting her head, smile widening): “Oh! How about some milk?” While she shifted her saree pallu to reveal more cleavage.

Srinu looked at Ashok again, expecting anger — but Ashok still smiled.

Srinu (nervously): “No thanks, I’m fine.”

Priya led them in. Srinu sat in a single sofa while Priya and Ashok took the larger one.

Priya (calling out): “Geeta, bring water for the guest.”

A smiling maid emerged with a tray.

Priya: “This is Geeta, our housemaid. She’s been with us a long time — like family, like a saheli. She knows everything. Isn’t that right, Geeta?”

Geeta was short, but her body didn’t know the meaning of “average.” She was meaty in all the right places — her curves rounded and full, her breasts ample enough to catch attention even under loose clothes, and her ass was the kind that swayed with a natural rhythm, almost like it knew it was being watched. She had that earthy appeal, the kind of woman who didn’t need makeup to turn heads.

Geeta (excitedly): “Yes, Madamji! I know everything about you — what you like to eat, what you like to wear, where you like to go, even… who you want to slee—”

Priya (cutting her off, laughing): “Arey! Kya bol rahi hai?”

The two women laughed together. Srinu sat awkwardly, wondering if Geeta was about to say she knew who Priya slept with.

Srinu looked at Ashok, expecting at least this time, he would show some concern about his maid joking about his wife sleeping with others. But to his surprise, he was laughing with them.

Priya (still laughing): “Srinu, don’t take her seriously. She’s always joking. Now go, Geeta, set the food.”

Geeta: “Ji, Madam saab.” She disappeared into the kitchen.

They moved to the dining table. Geeta served the food. Ashok asked about Srinu’s health; Priya joined in, asking about his treatment and praising Ganga for helping him recover.

Ashok: “What a great wife you have, Srinu. You’re so lucky.”

Priya: “Yes — she’s an ideal wife. Srinu, now it’s your turn to give her something special she’ll never forget, to thank her.”

Srinu (inspired): “Thanks, Priya. I’ve been thinking about that. I want it to be something truly special. Can you help me?”

Priya (enthusiastic): “Of course! What do you need?”

Srinu: “I don’t know… maybe something from her childhood that only she would appreciate.”

Priya (smiling): “That’s romantic. See, Ashok — learn from Srinu.”

Ashok (raising hands): “Oh, Srinu, you’ve got me in trouble now.”

Priya (playfully hitting him): “You deserve it.”

She turned back to Srinu.

Priya: “Absolutely, I’ll help. What do you want to know about Ganga?”

Srinu (hesitant): “Not right now. It’s late — we’ll talk tomorrow, maybe over lunch or dinner.”

Priya: “Sure. yeah, it's already getting late. We have to get ready for bed Right, honey?”

Ashok: “Yes, I’m already very sleepy.”

They finished dinner, drank the cold drinks Raju had brought, and chatted about random topics.

Srinu stood.

Srinu: “I should go.”

Ashok and Priya walked him to the door, waving as he mounted his bike and rode away into the night.

Srinu came home late that night, locking the door behind him with a firm clack. His mind was still on the plan he had made earlier. Without wasting a second, he went straight into his office room. Inside, the dim glow from the desk lamp illuminated his newly created detective board — his entire investigation laid out in colored sticky notes, red wires connecting each piece of information like a spider’s web.

He took a marker from his desk, walked up to the board, and next to Priya’s name, wrote in bold letters: in progress.

He stood there for a couple of seconds, staring at the board, his lips pressed together in satisfaction. This plan… it felt solid.

Pleased, he set the marker down and left the office room. Upstairs, he freshened up quickly — a splash of cold water on his face, fingers combing through his hair, the smell of soap still clinging to his hands. When he stepped into his bedroom, the glow from his phone caught his attention. It was lying on the bed, screen lit up with another useless spam message.

With a sigh, he picked it up and swiped the notification away. His eyes went to the clock in the corner of the screen — 11:07 PM.

That was when his gaze drifted to his wallpaper — Ganga’s smiling face, and then it hit him — she hadn’t called him back after his missed calls earlier.

A faint unease began to coil in his stomach. She should have called by now. Why didn’t she?

His mind raced.

She’s traveling alone. At night. Anything could happen.

This had never happened before. Ganga always returned his calls. Even when she was busy, she would at least text or send a short reply. Without hesitating, his thumb hovered over her name on the call list and pressed dial.

The phone rang. Once. Twice. Three times. She didn’t pick up.

The worry deepened. He immediately called again, this time pacing near the bed. The ringing seemed to drag on forever. Still, no answer.

He called again. And again. His breathing grew heavier with each failed attempt until finally —

A faint, low voice, almost a whisper:

Ganga: “Hello…”

Relief flooded through him.

Srinu: “Why didn’t you pick up my call? Is everything okay?”

He expected her to respond right away, but instead there was a pause — two, maybe three seconds — before she answered, her voice still low.

Ganga: “Yes… everything is all right, Srinu.”

That hesitation didn’t sit well with him.

Srinu: “Then why weren’t you lifting my calls? I called three, four times.”

Another pause. Longer this time. Then, broken, halting words:

Ganga: “I… was feeling… tired and… went to sleep… early.”

Even her breathing seemed delayed, heavy in between the words. It wasn’t like her.

Srinu: “Are you feeling alright? Why is your voice so low?”

A big pause.

Ganga: “Oh, I am okay… It’s just… that everybody is sleeping… in the bus… I don’t want to… disturb them.”

As she spoke, a faint sound crept into the call —

clap… clapp… clappp —

coming at regular intervals.

Srinu: “What is that sound, Ganga?”

Pause. Then her voice, puzzled.

Ganga: “What noise? I don’t hear anything.”

Srinu: “The noise coming from your side. Like someone is clapping. Are there any children on the bus? Clapping?”

Another pause.

Ganga: “Oh… it must be noise made by some insects outside. The bus is travelling through the forest.”

Her explanation was half-convincing, but the pauses… they were getting longer as the clapping was growing louder while she answered

Srinu decided the bad signal must be the reason.

Srinu: “Did you eat anything, Ganga?”

She took her time before answering,

Ganga: “Yes.”

Normally, she would have immediately followed with, And you? But tonight — nothing. Just silence.

It bothered him. Ganga was never quiet on calls. She was a chatterbox — sometimes to the point of not letting him get a word in. But now, even after he paused, waiting for her to ask, she didn’t.

The only sound on the line:

clap… clapp… clappp

He glanced at his phone, half-thinking the call might have ended. No — it was still connected.

Fine. If she wasn’t going to ask, he would tell her himself.

Srinu: “Priya invited me over today. I met Ashok — her husband. She cooked a lot of dishes for dinner. They were both really nice to me, they appreciated you for helping me recover from the injuries… You know, from the night of the attack.”

The clapping grew louder.

CLAP… CLAPP… CLAPPP.

He pressed on, talking about how he and Priya had planned a surprise for her return.

Suddenly, the clapping sped up — rapid bursts.

CLAP. CLAPP. CLAPP. CLAPPP. CLAPPP!

The noise was so loud he pulled the phone from his ear. Then, just as abruptly, it stopped. The line was clear again.

He smiled faintly — maybe the bus had exited the forest. Placing the phone back to his ear, he continued speaking, sharing little stories from the day.

But something felt off. She wasn’t replying.

Srinu: “Hello? Ganga, are you there?”

Silence.

He pulled the phone away and looked at the screen — the call had ended.

A small frown tugged at his brows.

Did she hang up on me? No… she’s never done that before. This was the first time ever that Ganga had ended their call before he did.

He told himself it was just the signal. After all, there had been that loud noise before the call dropped.

Dialing again, he waited. The ringtone played for a long time. No answer.

Suspicion began to replace the worry.

He called again. Same result.

A third time. Still nothing.

Frustration bubbled up inside him. She was awake just moments ago. She had seemed fine. Why wasn’t she answering now?

He pressed the call button once more — and this time, instead of the ringing tone, a recorded female voice answered:

Voice: “The number you are trying to reach is currently switched off.”

Srinu exclaimed WTF!
