Adultery Priya Didi
Ravi laughed, a little embarrassed.

He sipped the tea Sirisha brought and complimented them.

“This is really good. Better than my hostel chai, that’s for sure.”

Sirisha sat across from him, eyes bright.

“So, Bhayya… what else did you like about me the other day? At dinner? I saw you looking.”

Neetu gasped dramatically. “Ayyoo, Sirisha! Shameless girl!”

But Ravi didn’t back down.

He leaned back, arms resting on the couch, smirking. “You really want to know?”

Sirisha raised both eyebrows, lips pressed in a challenge. “Tell me.”

Ravi looked at her playfully, then slowly said,

“You wore that half-saree like you didn’t know how stunning you looked.

But you did. The color — indigo and gold, right?

It made you glow. And your bangles… those little glass ones…

they kept catching the light when you moved your hands.”

Sirisha blinked, clearly caught off-guard for a second. “Oh…”

Neetu pretended to fan herself.

“Is this what happens when Vamsi’s not around? Should I be worried?”

Sirisha giggled, then nodded with mock approval. “Nice observation, Bhayya. But you missed something.”

Ravi tilted his head. “Oh? Enlighten me.”

Sirisha pointed at herself and said confidently, “My earrings. You didn’t mention them.”

He chuckled. “Ah. That long gold earrings with little blue beads, right? You kept playing with them when you were nervous.”

Neetu’s mouth parted slightly. “Wow. You actually noticed that.”

Ravi offered a soft smile. “I just tend to remember things... in too much detail sometimes. Bit of a curse, really.”

They all went quiet for a moment, the warmth of the home settling around them like a blanket.

Neetu broke the silence with a grin.

“So you’ll come again, no? You have two women here now who demand your attention.”

Sirisha jumped in, “Three, actually. Our maid keeps asking who the cute guy was.”

Ravi laughed. “Well, then. How can I say no?”

Sunday Afternoon – Flat 401

The fan above spun lazily, stirring the gentle aroma of cardamom and sandalwood.

The sunlight slipped in through the half-closed balcony door,

Painting golden patches across the tiled floor and the light yellow walls.

Ravi sat on the long L-shaped couch, his legs stretched out, a cushion tucked under his arm.

Sirisha had claimed the recliner nearby,

Curled up with her tea in hand, one knee pulled up as she sat sideways.

Neetu sat closest to him, angled slightly, her face glowing in the natural light.

It felt like a lazy afternoon in a place that didn’t need pretense.

“You know what I think?” Neetu said, stirring the silence.

“I think you should’ve come to 401 long ago. This one...”

She nudged Sirisha with her elbow

“...has been talking about her 'coding Bhayya' as if he’s some mystery hero.”

Sirisha rolled her eyes but didn’t deny it.

“Neetu Bhabi! Why are you exposing me like this?”

“Because he should know how highly you think of him,” Neetu said with a smirk, sipping her tea.

Ravi chuckled. “Okay, okay. I’ll start charging consultation fees soon.”

“You already owe us,” Sirisha said, setting her cup down. “One more visit, and maybe… a movie night next week.”

“Woah, slow down,” Ravi said playfully. “Let’s not go from code to cinema in one jump.”

Neetu laughed. “You have no idea, Ravi. When Sirisha sets her mind on something, she doesn’t slow down.”

There was a pause then, a comfortable silence.

Ravi’s gaze drifted to the kitchen,

Where soft clangs of steel tumblers and plates hinted at someone finishing up prep.

Neetu’s movements were graceful, and even in her casual attire, she carried a quiet confidence.

Sirisha, on the other hand, was all energy and expression.

“So,” Sirisha leaned forward suddenly, chin in palm. “How long have you been in Mumbai?”

“Just a few weeks,” Ravi replied. “Still adjusting. This city’s… different. Fast.”

“But you seem calm,” Neetu said. “People here tend to rush everywhere, all the time.”

“I don’t know,” he shrugged.

“Maybe it’s because of people like you three. Makes a new place feel... softer.”

There was a beat of quiet, then Sirisha said, voice light, “That was smooth, Bhayya.”

Neetu clapped once. “Very smooth. He might be dangerous.”

Ravi raised both hands in mock surrender. “Only with words, I promise.”

Sirisha’s eyes twinkled, but she looked away quickly.

Neetu stood up. “Okay. I’m bringing the sweet now. You two behave.”

When she walked away, Sirisha moved to sit where Neetu had been, closer to Ravi,

just enough that her shoulder almost brushed his.

She kept her tone light. “So… you really remember everything you see?”

Ravi gave a modest smile. “Mostly. Faces. Clothes. Details.”

“And yet you forgot to reply to my good morning message yesterday,” she teased.

Caught off guard, Ravi laughed. “That’s not memory. That’s negligence.”

Sirisha tilted her head, watching him. “Do you always smile like this? With everyone?”

He paused, taken aback. Then answered truthfully, “No. Just when I feel comfortable.”

She bit her lip and looked down, brushing a strand of hair from her cheek.

They both looked up as Neetu returned, carrying a tray with bowls of hot Kheer.

“Here comes your reward,” she said,

Setting it on the center table. “Don’t finish it all. I made it for my husband, not you freeloaders.”

“Where is Vamsi Bhaiya anyway?” Ravi asked.

“Out with his friends. Cricket, biryani, gossip, all the usual,” Neetu said with a sigh,

Then sat down again. “He’ll be back by dinner. That’s when the TV volume shoots up.”

They all started eating the sweet. It was delicious, warm, perfectly sweet.

“Bhabi,” Ravi said sincerely, “you’ve set the bar too high. If I ever marry, my wife will curse you.”

Neetu smiled, eyes sparkling. “Then you better marry someone who learns fast. Or send her to me for training.”

Sirisha muttered under her breath, “If she even lets him go.”

Neetu smirked at that and Ravi raised an eyebrow. “What was that?”

“Nothing!” Sirisha grinned, licking a bit off her fingertip. “Just… enjoying dessert.”

Ravi watched her for a moment too long.

There was something about the way she was so unfiltered, unguarded.

And yet, from the corner of his eye, he saw Neetu watching both of them, with quiet curiosity.

The conversation moved to movies, favorite food joints, and silly college stories.

The room filled with laughter and echoes of stories that Ravi hadn’t been part of, but now belonged to.

The line between guest and friend slowly blurred.

Rasmalai and Red Cheeks – A Sweeter Turn

The clock on the living room wall nudged past 4 PM.

The sun had turned mellow, casting amber lines across the maroon and cream curtains.

Neetu’s laughter still lingered faintly in the air as she stepped out into the balcony to take a call, her phone tucked between her shoulder and ear,

One hand busy setting her dupatta right.

Sirisha and Ravi were left alone in the hush that followed.

Ravi leaned back on the couch, watching the quiet sway of the curtain’s edge.

Sirisha sat cross-legged on the rug by the center table, humming something under her breath as she stood up suddenly.

“Now,” she said, placing her hands dramatically on her hips, “the moment you’ve been waiting for, Bhayya.”

Ravi raised an eyebrow. “Oh? Is this where I get kicked out for eating too much sweet?”

She rolled her eyes with a grin. “No, Bhayaaaa. Rasmalai.”

She disappeared into the kitchen before he could say more.

From his seat, Ravi could hear the clink of spoon on steel bowl,

The soft thud of refrigerator door, the rustle of something being wiped clean.

A minute later, she walked out with a shallow glass bowl,

Rasmalai floating in thickened, saffron-kissed milk, crowned with silver foil and crushed pistachios.

She placed the bowl on the table like she was presenting a crown jewel.

“Tadaa.”

Ravi blinked. “You actually made this?”

“Why? You thought I was bluffing?” she challenged,

Then added with a shrug, “Neetu Bhabi helped. But I did most of it.”

He smiled. “I’m impressed. And starving again.”

She passed him a spoon and sat beside him, closer than before, their shoulders brushing briefly.

That tiny touch sent an unnoticed ripple between them.

He took a bite, and paused.

Sirisha leaned toward him, eyes wide. “Well?”

He held her gaze for a second longer than usual.

“You’ve just complicated my entire Sunday.”

“How?”

“Now I’ll have to think of ways to come here every weekend for dessert.”

She laughed, the sound bright and unfiltered. “Flatterer.”

“No, I’m serious. This is unreal. The flavor, the sweetness… the effort.”

She looked pleased. “It took hours. But I wanted to make something special.”

There was something gentle in her tone.

Ravi turned toward her, the bowl momentarily forgotten.

Her eyes were soft now, not playful but sincere.

“For me?” he asked quietly.

She didn’t answer. She didn’t have to.

He watched as she dipped her spoon and took a bite herself.

A tiny drop of the saffron milk clung to the corner of her lip.

Ravi looked away for a second. Then he looked again.

His voice came low. “You have… here.”

He motioned awkwardly to the left side of his own lip.

Sirisha, confused, licked the wrong side first, then tried again. Still missed.

Ravi, almost without thinking, reached into his pocket for a tissue, held it toward her. “Let me—”

But she caught the tissue from his hand quickly, her cheeks blooming with a deep red.

“Thanks,” she whispered, wiping her lip.

The silence that followed wasn’t awkward.

It pulsed. It hung between them like steam from hot tea, warm, rising, a little foggy.

Ravi tried to return his attention to the Rasmalai.

But his eyes kept returning to her face,

The way her hair had curled slightly at the ends,

The small gold hoop in her ear, the mole just above her chin.

And she, trying not to be obvious, glanced at him too, his strong arms,

The gentleness in his voice, the way his fingers had lingered a second longer with that tissue.

“Sirisha…” he said suddenly.

She looked up. “Hmm?”

“I’m glad I came today.”

She smiled again, this time softly. “Me too.”

From the balcony, Neetu’s voice rose again, talking, then laughing with someone on the phone.

It snapped the moment back into its frame.

Sirisha stood up, collecting the empty bowls. “If you want more, there’s another bowl in the fridge.”

He raised both hands. “I’m full. Eyes, heart, and stomach.”

She paused, looking at him, unsure whether to roll her eyes again or just hold that line close.

In that simple living room,

With fading sunlight and the scent of saffron still in the air,

Something unspoken had begun to quietly bloom.

Rasmalai and a Teasing Breeze

Neetu stepped back in, her phone still in her hand, eyes adjusting to the mellow light of the room.

“You two look full and satisfied,” she said, slipping her phone into her kurti pocket,

Her smile lightly mischievous. “Should I assume the Rasmalai was a hit… or was it something else?”

Sirisha, who had just returned from the kitchen after placing the bowls in the sink,

Froze mid-step. “Bhabi!” she whined.

Neetu tilted her head and raised her eyebrows.

“What? I’m just saying… there’s a certain glow on your face. Like someone just got complimented very... thoroughly.”

Sirisha threw a cushion at her. “Stop it!”

Ravi chuckled, standing up and brushing his jeans.

“It was amazing, Bhabi. I mean the Rasmalai. Please thank her again on my behalf.”

He glanced at Sirisha, who was busy hiding her face behind another cushion now.

Neetu grinned. “Oh, I’ll thank her. But I’m more interested in knowing what all you liked today.”

Ravi met her gaze, amused. “I already told her she made my Sunday complicated.”

Neetu gave a knowing smirk. “Hmm… interesting choice of words.”

Sirisha muttered something into the cushion, clearly blushing. “Bhayya, just go.”

Ravi laughed. “Yes, yes. I should leave before I get grilled further.”

He turned toward the door, slipping his phone into his pocket,

Pausing for a moment. “Thank you both. Not just for the food… but this whole afternoon.”

Neetu gave a soft nod. “Our doors are always open for you.”

As he reached the door, Sirisha finally peeked out from behind her cushion. “Wait,” she said,

Getting up and walking with him to the door, “text me when you reach.”

Ravi looked at her for a second. “You do know it’s two floors down, right?”

“I know,” she said, rolling her eyes. “Still. Just… do it.”

Their eyes met again for a quiet second.

Something sweet.

Something alive.

He gave a soft nod. “Okay.”

Just as he stepped out, Neetu leaned close to Sirisha and whispered,

“You know, Rasmalai was your excuse... but he was your craving.”

Sirisha’s mouth dropped open. “Bhabiiiii!”

Neetu walked away, humming to herself, as Sirisha stood by the doorway,

Her heart still thudding softly, watching Ravi walk toward the elevator.

Inside her, a hundred butterflies swirled, not just from his compliments,

Not just from his gaze, but from something deeper. He had noticed her. All of her.

And somehow, that mattered far more than she had expected.

205 – Quiet Return, Quiet Heart

Ravi turned the key gently and entered Flat 205.

It was quiet, but not empty.

Amit’s shoes were in their usual spot now, next to Priya’s sandals.

From the far end of the flat, soft murmurs,

Amit and Priya in their room, the door half-closed.

Their laughter carried faintly, private, untouched.

He paused at the hallway, looked toward the half-lit corridor.

There was something about the familiar sounds of their life together that tugged at him

A reminder of the simplicity he’d always known, and the subtle distance he felt at the moment.

Then quietly, he turned into his own room, closing the door behind him with a small click.

The room was warm with afternoon light pouring through the curtain’s edges.

He dropped his phone on the bed, exhaled.

The weight of beauty and conversation lingered from Sirisha's flat

Especially that moment when Neetu left them alone.

It had been a strange quiet that followed, as though the world had paused just for them.

The way Sirisha’s words had seemed to hang in the air, and the lingering glances that were almost too personal.

He’d felt exposed, yet oddly seen,

As if the layers he’d carefully built around himself had softened, just for a moment.

It still replayed in his mind, over and over, like an echo that wouldn’t fade.

His phone buzzed.

Ravi’s Room – Memories on Fire

He closed his door softly and dropped onto the bed

Head spinning not from the Rasmalai but from her

The way Sirisha had smiled, leaned in, teased him, lingered longer than necessary.

His phone buzzed...

Sirisha
Bhayya… reached home?

Ravi
Just now. But full from Rasmalai and your nonstop commentary.

Sirisha
You liked both.
Anywayyy... You said you remember things in detailed...
Tell me what you remember about me today.

Ravi
You’re inviting trouble.
But okay. Let’s see.

He smiled, tilted his head back, and let the memory sharpen.

Ravi (wrote a long message)
"You wore a fitted crop top, lavender color.

It hugged you just right, not flashy, not loud, but… confident.

High-waisted jeans, light blue. Slim fit. And slightly folded near the ankle.

There was a delicate silver chain around your neck.

No pendant, just the shine. Your ears had small hoops.

Hair was open. Wavy. A little wild, like you were late to get ready, but didn’t care.

Your phone case was yellow, with a bunny sticker on it.

You kept tugging your crop top down while laughing,  like it wasn’t cooperating with you

And the perfume? Floral. Very Gen Z. Stayed even when you walked out of the room."

There was a long pause before the typing bubble returned.

Why are you like this?
You even remembered my phone case?!

Ravi
I warned you.

Sirisha
This is insane… I felt like I was reading a fashion review from Vogue.
Wait—did I look okay?

Ravi
You looked… *alive*. Beautiful. Effortless.
Not trying too hard. But just enough to stop time.

Sirisha
...I’m smiling like an idiot right now.
No one’s described me like that. Ever.

There was a pause. Then another message.

Sirisha
You didn’t mention the waistline
Crop top and high waist. Did it not get your attention?

Ravi
I noticed.
It was bold.
Your skin showed just a hint — that soft, bare midriff.
When you bent slightly to serve Rasmalai, the top lifted a little. Not much. But just enough.
It wasn’t what you showed. It was what you didn’t.
That’s what I remember.

The typing dots blinked. Then vanished.

Seconds passed.

Then

Sirisha
Bhayya… that’s too much
I don’t know if I should be angry with you or thank you

Ravi
Do neither.
Just be you.

Sirisha
You make it hard though.
Now I have to think twice what I wear next time.

Ravi
Don’t.
Whatever you wear, I’ll remember.

Sirisha
Ughhh Bhayyaaaa
Now I'm seriously blushing.
You’re dangerous with words.

Ravi
Just honest.
You asked what I noticed.

Sirisha
Yeah but I didn’t expect *every inch* of me to be remembered ?
It’s like you took mental screenshots.

Ravi
Maybe.
Or maybe you were the kind of moment I didn’t want to forget.

Sirisha
That’s too filmy.

Ravi
And yet, you're the one who wore jeans like a K-pop idol and served dessert like a Telugu heroine.

Sirisha
Stop it. I’m going to hide next time you come.

Ravi
No, you won’t.
You’ll open the door in some hoodie pretending to be casual
But you’ll still check the mirror twice.

Sirisha
Okay… now I *really* might block you

Then a moment of pause. A typing bubble. Then she sends—

Sirisha
But seriously, Bhayya…
No one notices these things. Not like you do.
People say I look nice.
Or pretty.
But you… you remember the folds on my jeans and the way my chain didn’t have a pendant.

Ravi
Because the story is in the details.
And you’re worth remembering in detail.

There’s a pause again.

Sirisha
I don’t know how to reply to that.
I just... smiled like an idiot again.

Ravi
That’s enough.
That’s the best kind of reply.

Another long pause. The chat goes quiet for a while.

Ravi places the phone on his chest, staring at the ceiling, heart pulsing slower now. But then—

Sirisha
So...
What if I wore something even more daring next time?

Ravi
Then I’ll remember even more.
But don’t wear it for me.

Sirisha
Why not?

Ravi
Because the moment you start doing things for me, it’ll mean something more.

No reply.

Just the “typing…” bubble.

Then it vanishes.

And then

Sirisha
Good night Bhayya.
Sleep well. Don’t remember me too much.

Ravi
Too late.

Sunday Night – After 11:30 PM – Neetu and Ravi

Ravi lay sideways, the glow of his phone painting soft light over his pillow.

He had scrolled past half a dozen notifications when one made him pause.

Neetu Bhabi:
“So... Did we pass your Sunday test, Mr. Reviewer?”

He smiled, thumb flying over the keyboard.

Ravi:
“It wasn’t a test. But if it was... you and Sirisha would top the charts.”

Neetu Bhabi:
“I like the sound of that. And what about me? Did I do okay as a host?”

Ravi:
“Let’s just say... if they rated hosts on charm, you’d get banned for cheating.”

Neetu Bhabi:
“Tch... Ravi, you say things that shouldn't be said this late at night.”

Ravi:
“But this is the time when people say what they really mean, isn’t it?”

Neetu Bhabi:
“Oh? So what are you really meaning to say?”

He paused, watching the message box blink. Then typed slowly:

Ravi:
“That I like the way you speak. The way you tilt your head when you smile. And how you know exactly when someone’s watching you, and still pretend like you don’t.”

There was a pause. Long enough to make his heart twitch.
Then her reply came, soft and sharp all at once:

Neetu Bhabi:
“Careful. Keep going like that and you’ll make me blush.”

Ravi:
“You already did. This afternoon.”

Another pause. The little dots blinked, then stopped. Started again.

Neetu Bhabi:
“I didn’t realize I left such an impression.”

Ravi:
“You left more than an impression. You left me wondering if you were doing it on purpose.”

Neetu Bhabi:
“Maybe I was just being myself.”

Ravi:
“That’s the most dangerous version of you.”

A voice note came in this time, a slow, amused chuckle followed by her soft voice.

“You think you have me figured out, don’t you?”

Ravi:
“Not even close. But I’m enjoying the puzzle.”

Then a simple line from her:

Neetu Bhabi:
“Good. But some puzzles... come with consequences.”

No good night. No goodbye. Just that line, left floating between them like a dare.

Sunday Night – After Midnight – Ravi & Neetu Bhabi’s Chat Continues

The clock on Ravi’s screen blinked 12:08 AM.

Still no reply to her last message:

“Good. But some puzzles... come with consequences.”

Ravi stared at those words longer than he should have.

Something about the phrasing, it was light, but beneath it, a thread of warning… or maybe invitation.

He typed slowly.

Ravi:
“Consequences are part of the game. Some are worth it.”

Neetu Bhabi:
“Spoken like a man who’s not afraid of a little trouble.”

Ravi:
“Bhabi… with you, I’m afraid of many things.”

Neetu Bhabi:
“Oh?”

Ravi:
“Of saying too much. Of not saying enough. Of you knowing exactly what I’m thinking.”

Her reply came almost instantly.

Neetu Bhabi:
“Ravi… if I really knew what you were thinking, I might not sleep tonight.”

Ravi:
“Then maybe I should help you sleep.”

Neetu Bhabi:
“By saying something sweet?”

Ravi:
“By saying something true.”

Neetu Bhabi:
“Then say it.”

He didn’t hesitate this time.

Ravi:
“You looked... dangerous today. Not the loud kind. The quiet, slow-burning kind. Like a poem no one dares to read out loud.”

A pause.

Neetu Bhabi:
“Do you usually say things like this to your friends’ wives?”

Ravi:
“No. Just to the ones who don’t feel like they belong to anyone.”

The typing dots stopped.

The next message came after almost a full minute.

Neetu Bhabi:
“You’re walking a very thin line, Ravi.”

Ravi:
“Only because you're standing right on the other side, watching.”

Another voice note arrived.

This one was quieter. Her breath softer. No laughter this time.

“I don’t know whether to stop you or keep listening.”

Ravi:
“I think you already chose.”

She replied:

Neetu Bhabi:
“I’ll hate myself in the morning.”

Ravi:
“Then hate me too. But not tonight.”

She went offline...

Ravi placed the phone down slowly. His chest was warm, his mind a blur.

He stared at the ceiling, smiling to himself, not from victory, but from danger.

This night… would stay with him.
