Another sharp turn.
And this time
They didn’t even try to pull away.
The auto dipped low into a pothole and jerked to the right.
Their bodies swayed again
But unlike the first few times
There was no apology, no startled retreat.
Priya tumbled into Ravi’s side
Not clumsily, but softly,
As if her body had stopped resisting the inevitable.
Her shoulder pressed into his chest.
Her hip slid fully against his thigh.
Her cheek grazed his collarbone for just a second
Bare skin against the crisp edge of his shirt.
And in that second, everything inside him clenched.
Ravi froze
Not out of awkwardness,
But from the sudden wave of sensation rushing through him.
The warmth of her arm against his.
The warmth of her soft body against his.

The softness of her body.
The faint, feminine scent that clung to her skin, jasmine and something uniquely hers.
It wasn’t just physical.
It was intimate.
The kind of contact that wasn’t meant to happen.
And yet… here it was.
Undeniable.
Unavoidable.
Unforgettable.
She didn’t pull away immediately.
She didn’t speak. She just… stayed.
And in that stillness, Ravi felt every heartbeat.
He dared a glance sideways.
Her face was turned slightly downward.
Her lips gently parted. Her lashes lowered.
She wasn’t embarrassed.
She wasn’t flustered.
She was present, feeling it all
Just as he was.
Her hand rested close to his thigh now, bracing against the seat.
The back of her fingers barely touched his.
And he felt it like a current, shooting through his chest.
A beat passed.
Then another.
He didn’t move.
Neither did she.

They were touching
Not by accident anymore, but because they had simply… stopped avoiding it.
Her fingers shifted. Just a fraction.
Her pinky brushed against his. Light as silk.
And Ravi’s breath hitched.
That one soft graze, so casual, so weightless, felt heavier than a kiss.
His entire body responded
Heat curling low in his belly
Spreading through his spine like smoke.
He turned slightly toward her.
Not enough to invade her space, but enough to face her.
Enough to see her better.
And she looked up.
Just once.
Their eyes met.
Not wide-eyed or shocked, just quiet.
Open.
A look that asked nothing… and said everything.
Ravi wanted to say something.
Anything.
But the words caught in his throat.
Because what could he say?
That her body against his made him forget the noise of the city?
That he’d never known cotton could burn like fire?
That every accidental bump in that rattling auto had become the most erotic thing he’d ever felt
He said nothing.
And neither did she.

But when the auto bumped again
And their knees knocked together
She didn’t shift away.
She just smiled faintly.
Like she knew.
Like she felt it too.
She let her hand rest beside his for the rest of the ride.
Not touching, not withdrawn.
Just there.
Close enough to mean everything.
Ravi sat beside her, heart thudding, mind racing.
He’d waited weeks for this kind of closeness, without even realizing it.
And now, here she was.
Warm.
Beautiful.
Breathing beside him.
And not moving away.
The road seemed alive with potholes that day.
Every dip sent their knees touching,
Thighs brushing
Shoulders knocking gently but not accidentally anymore.
Ravi’s mind raced.

He could smell the mild jasmine in her hair oil.
He could see the edge of a faint mole just under her right ear.
He could feel the side of her hip against his
And it did not move away. Not once.
She turned her face slightly,
Not quite looking at him but not facing away either.
Her lips parted as though she was going to speak,
But then she closed them again
Steadying herself with another hand on the side railing.
Her other hand stayed near her lap.
Too near to his lap.
The next bump sent their arms flush, skin through thin cotton.
And her fingers brushed his.
He didn’t move.
Neither did she.
The warmth of her touch lingered.
It wasn’t intentional. But it wasn’t innocent either.
And Ravi could feel it.
The sharp ache of wanting to hold still.
The burning awareness of how close she was.
The pulse in his throat when he realized: she wasn’t shrinking away.
She was, in her own careful, composed way… leaning in.
He turned slightly to her, not touching, just watching her profile.
The wind tugged at a few strands of her hair.
Her eyes stayed on the road.
Her lips stayed closed.

Her breath
It was quiet… and shaky.
They didn’t speak for the rest of the ride.
They didn’t need to.
Something had passed between them
Not a word, not a promise
Not a touch they could explain.
But something had passed.
When the auto finally rolled to a stop
She adjusted her duppatta again
Tucking it across her chest with careful fingers.
She climbed out first, without a word.
Ravi followed, slower, heart heavy and electric all at once.
She turned to him once they stood by the gate of the old flat.
Her voice was perfectly normal.
“We should take pictures of everything inside. Amit will ask.”
But her eyes lingered longer than they used to.
And when she walked ahead, Ravi watched her
Feeling the aftershocks of every brush
Every breath
Every accidental moment.
Nothing had been said.
No line had been crossed.
But something inside them, had already fallen.

Hi All,
I wanted to share something with you.
Originally, the auto scenes weren’t part of the story. I had simply written that Priya and Ravi went to the old house in a cab.
It was just a few paragraphs of straightforward narration, nothing much.
But yesterday, our driver took a sick day, so my mom and I took a short trip nearby in an auto.
I honestly can’t remember the last time I rode in one.
This yesterday's auto experience in Hyderabad roads with path holes and turns and twists, sparked the idea for the auto ride scenes between Priya and Ravi.
I quickly changed them today and gave the updates.
I hope this addition brought an interesting twist to the story.
I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!
I am still learning how to write novels, so your suggestions and ideas are very welcome.
With warm regards

Its a wonderful writeup. I would suggest you to add some more spice in it. If Ravi could see her navel and belly button. That would be add something more to your description. I know you had thought about the plot in your way but i think with your level of description and art of writing you can explain such scenes like a sculptor building a beautiful statue. Just a small suggestion. You are fantastic as a writer.

Hi Raj087
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your thoughts
I really appreciate both the encouragement and the suggestion.
The idea of describing things like a sculptor carving a statue? That’s such a vivid compliment
I am honored. I will try my best, but not sure how much I can stand up to that compliment.
The suggestions you have given are very helpful, and I’ll absolutely keep it in mind as the story unfolds.
I look forward for your feedback on my future updates.
Warm regards

The Old House - With Lingering Tension
The two of them stood at the entrance of the old house
Which seemed to have been lost to time
Its once vibrant paint faded, its windows tired and clouded by age
Yet, the house held a strange beauty in its solitude.
It was as if it waited for someone to breathe new life into it.
Priya stepped out first,
Her fingers lingering on the door handle as she gracefully exited the vehicle.
Ravi followed closely behind, his gaze inadvertently drawn to her as she walked.
Her movements were effortless, and yet every step she took seemed to send electric jolts through him.
The warmth of the ride still lingered on his skin,
Especially where their shoulders had brushed, where her hand had brushed his.
Her delicate form, the soft flutter of her hair, the way she carried herself
There was something indescribably magnetic about her.
Even though the house in front of them was weathered and dull
She made everything around her feel alive.
The tension was palpable, they were in the same space
But in a way, they were still together in that auto
Inches apart, not knowing how to respond to what had happened.

She walked ahead, not glancing back, and he followed,
His footsteps quieter than usual, cautious,
As though stepping into a space not just full of dust, but of possibilities.
The air inside the house smelled of age and forgotten memories.
Priya’s heels clicked on the tiles as she moved through the front hallway,
Tracing her fingers over the faded walls.
Ravi could feel his pulse quicken as he stepped inside behind her.
She was close.
Too close.
She stopped to inspect the broken chandelier hanging above.
Her fingers brushed it lightly, but for a brief, intense moment,
Her hand was too close to his chest as she turned back to face him
Asking, "Do you think it can be fixed?"
The heat from her hand lingered for a second longer than necessary.
Ravi’s breath caught, his chest tight with awareness.
He nodded quickly
Forcing himself to focus on her words. "It’ll need some work, but it’s nothing we can’t handle."
She smiled at him
A smile that could have been just ordinary
But to him, it felt like the softest spark.

Her eyes caught his for just a moment
And Ravi felt that same jolt that shot through him earlier in the auto.
But this time, the space between them was even smaller.
She turned back to the rest of the room. "I think we should start here."
Ravi followed her, but this time, he didn’t need to watch the floor.
His eyes were drawn to her figure, her grace
Every movement a carefully hidden whisper.
She bent down to examine a few old documents scattered on the floor
Leaning forward slightly, and Ravi couldn’t tear his eyes away.
Her back arched just slightly,
The curve of her spine visible under the fabric of her top.
The small of her waist.
The way her hips seemed to subtly shift with each movement.
His breath caught again.
He moved closer without thinking
Almost to her side, but not quite.
He didn’t want to invade her space.
And yet, it was magnetic.

They worked silently for a few minutes
Both pretending to inspect various corners of the room
But the electricity between them was undeniable.
Every accidental touch,
Every moment when their hands almost brushed…
It was like walking on a thin line that neither of them could quite cross.
He took another step closer
Near enough to her that he could feel the heat of her skin.
He reached out, pretending to take some pictures of the room
But his eyes weren’t on the walls.
They were on her.
Click.
The camera’s soft sound cut through the stillness.
She didn’t notice.
Or maybe she did.
But she didn’t say anything.
He kept snapping
Capturing her profile
Her back as she bent to check a shelf
The way her delicate fingers traced over the old furniture.

It wasn’t just the house that he was photographing
He was capturing her without her knowing.
The curves of her face.
The shape of her neck.
The elegant arch of her shoulders.
He was stealing moments.
Silent, unnoticed.
When she turned to face him
Her gaze met his for just a beat longer than before.
Her lips parted slightly.
She smiled faintly, but it wasn’t just a smile.
It was an acknowledgment.
Of something.
Some quiet, unspoken recognition of the shift that had happened between them.
“I’ll need some of those photos, you know,”

She said lightly, turning back toward the window.
But there was something about the way she spoke
Something that suggested she already knew the answer to what was unspoken.
And for a second
A full second
Ravi wondered
If she was aware of how deeply he had been seeing her
Not just with his camera
But with every part of himself.
The house felt even quieter.
But it wasn’t the silence of an empty place
It was the silence of shared, tangled feelings.
The air, thick with desire and unspoken thoughts.
As they continued through the house
Each small movement they made seemed to draw them closer.
The closeness wasn’t just physical.

(This post was last modified: 09-07-2025, 02:23 AM by shailu4ever. Edited 1 time in total. Edited 1 time in total.)
It was as if they were quietly testing the boundaries of their own desires
Seeing just how much they could take
How long they could hold out before the magnetic force between them would finally snap.
When Priya reached out to adjust something on a nearby shelf
Her arm brushed against his.
It wasn’t a slight graze.
It was more deliberate
Her forearm pressing into his.
She didn’t pull back.
He didn’t either.
The touch lingered.
Their skin was still buzzing from earlier
The same soft crackle from the auto ride.
He stepped back
Looking at the wall.
She did too.
But they both knew it wasn’t the wall they were focused on.
Ravi’s hand twitched
The urge to touch her again almost overwhelming.
But neither spoke.
The sound of the house seemed to wrap around them
Old creaks in the floor, the rustle of wind outside, and the heavy silence between them.
Would they break it?
Would they admit what was happening?
Or would they just let it simmer?
Like everything else
In the unspoken space between them
