The first part introduces and explores the central concept of the book, outlining the dominant existing approaches to morality and ethics in the extant movement and civil society literature. The following three parts investigate morality in relation to topics and movements that are either prominent to contemporary politics or salient to the question of morality. In these empirically informed parts, the authors apply a diverse selection of methods spanning fieldwork, historiography, traditional and novel statistical analytical methods, and big data analysis to a diverse selection of data. Topics discussed include refugee solidarity movements, male privilege and anti-feminism movement, environmental and climate justice movements, and religious activism. The fifth and closing part of the book focuses on the more abstract theoretical question of the relationship between morality and ethics and activist practices and points to future research agendas.

This book acts as a guide to simple models that describe some of the complex fluid dynamics, heat/mass transfer and combustion processes in droplets and sprays. Attention is focused mainly on the use of classical hydrodynamics, and a combination of kinetic and hydrodynamic models, to analyse the heating and evaporation of mono- and multi-component droplets. The models were developed for cases when small and large numbers of components are present in droplets. Some of these models are used for the prediction of time to puffing/micro-explosion of composite water/fuel droplets - processes that are widely used in combustion devices to stimulate disintegration of relatively large droplets into smaller ones. The predictions of numerical codes based on these models are validated against experimental results where possible. In most of the models, droplets are assumed to be spherical; some preliminary results of the generalisation of these models to the case of non-spherical droplets, approximating them as spheroids, are presented.

Originally published in 1987, interest in mathematical cognition was not new in psychology. However, it was rediscovered in the 1970s under the influential work of the Genevan college. In particular, Piaget's work on conservation, including conservation of number, profoundly influenced developmental psychologists who, working first in the Piagetian theoretical framework, began to discover a broader set of topics in mathematical cognition. In developmental psychology, the field continued to expand and covered a wide range of topics. During the same period, however, no such evolution occurred in neuropsychology, and except for some studies around the time of publication, very little had been published on acalculia and number processing disorders. However, a more general theoretical evolution occurred in neuropsychology, mainly due to increasing collaboration between clinical and experimental neuropsychologists, on the one hand and cognitive psychologists on the other. The objective of this book was to promote an evolution in the neuropsychology of calculation and number processing deficits and thus to introduce clinical and experimental neuropsychologists, as well as developmental and cognitive psychologists, to recent research and theoretical approaches that are of particular interest for the neuropsychological approach to mathematical cognition.

Фокусирующие системы современных циклических ускорителей и накопителей заряженных частиц неизбежно содержат элементы, поля в которых нелинейно зависят от координат частиц. Хотя сами такие поля могут быть малы по сравнению с полями, обеспечивающими движение частиц вдоль замкнутых орбит, из-за периодичности движения частиц они могут вызывать заметные изменения положений замкнутых орбит частиц, частот колебаний относительно этих орбит и условий устойчивости колебаний частиц. Как правило, вычисления изменений параметров пучков под действием даже слабых нелинейных полей не могут быть проведены в общем виде. Поэтому их влияние на движение частиц исследуется либо по теории возмущений, либо с помощью численных методов. В последнем случае решения задач
по теории возмущений, оказываются тем не менее полезны для проверки предсказаний программ и качественной интерпретации результатов счета.
В этих лекциях мы обсудим ряд проблем, иллюстрирующих применение простых методов нелинейной механики для описания движения частиц в циклических ускорителях и накопителях заряженных частиц. Проведение таких вычислений уже давно стало рутинной и в значительной степени обязательной операцией при проектировании и запуске подобных установок. Вместе с тем колебания частиц в ускорителях обладают рядом особенностей, затрудняющих прямое использование формул, с которыми студенты уже встречались при изучении нелинейных колебаний в курсе классической механики.
Мы ограничимся обсуждением простых и вместе с тем типичных вопросов, которые могут встретиться студентам при работе на реальных установках. По этой причине в курс включено упрощенное обсуждение проблем устойчивости встречных пучков, а также короткое обсуждение влияния полей пространственного заряда пучка на устойчивость колебаний частиц.
