Computational Modeling Of The Covid-19 Disease: Numerical Ode Analysis With R Programming
by William E Schiesser
English | 2020 | ISBN: ‎ 9811222878 | 109 pages | True PDF EPUB | 17.43 MB

The book is intended for readers who are interested in learning about the use of computer-based modelling of the COVID-19 disease. It provides a basic introduction to a five-ordinary differential equation (ODE) model by providing a complete statement of the model, including a detailed discussion of the ODEs, initial conditions and parameters, followed by a line-by-line explanation of a set of R routines (R is a quality, scientific programming system readily available from the Internet). The reader can access and execute these routines without having to first study numerical algorithms and computer coding (programming) and can perform numerical experimentation with the model on modest computers.

Sick of the System - Why the COVID-19 Recovery Must Be Revolutionary
Authors: James t. Brophy Nicole Marie Burton
English | 169 pages | Between the Lines (2020) | 9781771135290 | EPUB | 15.56 Mb

Families left grieving; small businesses shuttered; communities in lockdown; precarious workers set adrift; health care workers stressed beyond endurance. The COVID-19 pandemic has shaken the world to its core. But the cracks already ran deep.

Featuring essays on poverty, health care, incarceration, basic income, policing, Indigenous communities, and more, this anthology delivers a stinging rebuke of the pre-pandemic status quo and a stark exposé of the buried weaknesses in our social and political systems. As policy makers scramble to bail out corporations and preserve an unsustainable labour market, an even greater global catastrophe - in the form of ecological collapse, economic recession, and runaway inequality - looms large on the horizon.

What can we do? From professors to poets, the authors of Sick of the System speak in one voice: We can turn our backs on "normal." We can demand divestment, redistribution, and mutual aid. We can seize new forms of solidarity with both hands. As the world holds its breath, revolutionary ideas have an unprecedented chance to gain ground. There should be no going back.

Creative Resilience and COVID-19: Figuring the Everyday in a Pandemic
by Irene Gammel (Editor), Jason Wang (Editor)
English | 2022 | ISBN: 1032100796 | 253 pages | True PDF | 16.31 MB

Creative Resilience and COVID-19 examines arts, culture, and everyday life as a way of navigating through and past COVID-19. Drawing together the voices of international experts and emerging scholars, this volume explores themes of creativity and resilience in relation to the crisis, trauma, cultural alterity, and social change wrought by the pandemic.

The cultural, social, and political concerns that have arisen due to COVID-19 are inextricably intertwined with the ways the pandemic has been discussed, represented, and visualized in global media. The essays included in this volume are concerned with how artists, writers, and advocates uncover the hope, plasticity, and empowerment evident in periods of worldwide loss and struggle―factors which are critical to both overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic and fashioning the post-COVID-19 era. Elaborating on concepts of the everyday and the outbreak narrative, Creative Resilience and COVID-19 explores diverse themes including coping with the crisis through digital distractions, diary writing, and sounds; the unequal vulnerabilities of gender, ethnicity, and age; the role of visuality and creativity including comics and community theatre; and the hopeful vision for the future through urban placemaking, nighttime sociability, and cinema.

The book fills an important scholarly gap, providing foundational knowledge from the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic through a consideration of the arts, humanities, and social sciences. In doing so, Creative Resilience and COVID-19 expands non-medical COVID-19 studies at the intersection of media and communication studies, cultural criticism, and the pandemic.

Industry expert Keith Elliot Greenberg chronicles pro wrestling through the most memorable, controversial, and polarizing period of the last two decades
As a new decade dawned, 2020 was supposed to be the best year to be a wrestling fan. Finally, WWE had serious competition in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), and there were viable secondary promotions and a thriving international indie scene. Few in the industry realized that in China, a mysterious virus had begun to spread. By the time a pandemic was declared in March, the business - and the world - was in disarray. For the first time, pro wrestling was no longer seen as escapism, as real-world events intruded on the fantasy. Still, when everything else shut down, wrestling never went away. Despite cancellations and empty arena shows, there were great innovations, like the cinematic match - battles shot to look like movies - and the "ThunderDome," which replicated the live experience with fan...

Re-Framing Foreign Aid History and Politics: From the Fall of the Berlin Wall to the COVID-19 Outbreak
by Igor Pellicciari
English | 150 pages | Routledge; 1st edition (June 17, 2022) | 0367641704 | PDF | 8.34 Mb

This book presents an integrated analysis, at once conceptual, historical, and political, of the growing impact of State Funded Aid on international relations, particularly after the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the end of the bipolar system.

In order to observe Aid as an emerging instrument of foreign policy, the book develops an original approach which puts Donors and Recipients on the same level and examines the political dynamics of their relationship. The focus shifts from looking at the needs covered by Aid interventions to the political motivations of Donors and Recipients. Aid is reconceptualized to include any transaction on favourable terms between these two parties, regardless of the object of that Aid. This framework of analysis is applied to several historical cases, from the post-conflict transition in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the post-Soviet one in Russia in the 1990s to the medical Aid to Italy and Russian vaccine diplomacy to the Republic of San Marino during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the end, the book identifies ten major trends that have shaped the dynamics of the relationship between Donors and Recipients over the past few decades, and on a more general level, traces the impact that State Funded Aid has had on the international system.

By arguing that, on the whole, Donors have had greater political interests than Recipients, the book takes a fresh and original look at Aid as instrument of Power Politics. It will be of great interest to students, scholars, and practitioners of Foreign Aid and foreign policy, and to all those interested in analysing how they have been affected by the global pandemic.

COVID-19: The Science We Should Know
English | November 17, 2021 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: N/A | 274 pages | True PDF | 6.3 MB

Since the inception of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020, the messaging from most governmental authorities and major-media outlets has largely been consistent - COVID-19 poses a grave threat to all humanity, lockdown policies and mask mandates are necessary to 'stop the spread', existing diagnostic tests are reliable indicators of infection, no preventatives or treatments exist for COVID-19, the inoculations developed under Operation Warp Speed are 'safe and effective', and mass inoculation is essential to end the pandemic. Meanwhile, dissenters from this orthodoxy have been routinely vilified and censored, regardless of their qualifications, personal experience, or the substance of their case.
In such a divisive and restrictive environment, acquiring a well-informed understanding of most any COVID-related topic is remarkably challenging. Sensible evaluation of any issue requires familiarity not only with the arguments for prevailing beliefs, but also the evidence presented by knowledgeable skeptics and critics.

This document is intended as a reference resource for anyone curious about the science and data underlying such contrarian positions. Organized by topic, it presents links to primary-source materials, the bulk of which are scientific manuscripts (i.e., scholarly studies, papers, articles, meta-analyses) and related resources. The testimonies of credentialed scientists and medical professionals are also included, while materials based on inexpert opinion have been assiduously avoided.
For ease of use and comprehension, key excerpts accompany most citations, but we strongly encourage you to dig further by following the links and doing your own independent research.

This compilation is for informational purposes only, and is not predictive or prescriptive. So please think for yourself, do your own due diligence, and draw your own (well-informed) conclusions.
Peace & good health to you and yours.
