Description
In this course aimed for architecture students you will not only learn the basics of Rhinoceros, but also acquire the necessary skills to be able to model complex forms efficiently. You will come by and gain an understanding of strategies that I have developed with more than 10 years of experience that will allow you to create high end architectural diagrams of your concept, site analysis and even it's structure. By the the end of the lectures you will be able to create any architectural design effortlessly and represent it in an appropriate manner.

The course is designed to start us off with the software of Rhinoceros from scratch, learning the most valuable and efficient ways for architects to start modeling geometrical forms. In a second stage the lectures will take you into the understanding on how to produce organic designs, this being a subject that not many know how to accomplish in the field of architecture. On a third stage we will look into complementing our designs with structure and window frames with efficient methods. Fourth stage consists on the architectural representation through diagrams that we can initialy produce in Rhino and then retouch them in a bonus lesson of Adobe Illustrator.

Therefore, optimization algorithms (operations research) are used to find optimal solutions for these problems. Professionals in this field are one of the most valued in the market.

And if you do not known how to code and/or if you wish to solve optimization problems using Excel, this is a perfect course for you.

In this course you will learn what is necessary to solve problems applying (without any coding):

The course has a nice introduction on mathematical modeling and the main formulas from Excel. Thus, you can easily follow the classes.

In addition to the classes and exercises, the following problems will be solved step by step:

Maximize the revenue in a rental car store

Maintenance planning problem

Optimal Power Flow: Electrical Systems

Many other examples, some simple, some complexes, including summations and many constraints.

You should NOT solve optimization problems in Excel for:

Complex problems that requires decompositions and iterations. Since we do not use any programming language in the course, our approach would not be recommended to solve problems that requires iterations, such as Benders.

Operational problems for real-time execution.

Large problems that require fast solutions. The approach from the course does not have a limitation, but large problems may take a while to be converted from the Excel's formulas to the solver.

Solve multi-objective problems.

Attention:

The approach in this course is NOT using the standard solver from Excel, our approach here has NO limitations on the number of variables or constraints.

I do NOT show you how to install Excel. But I teach how to install the required tools.

To follow the course you will need Excel installed on your computer. Moreover, the tools from the courses have been tested in Windows and MAC only.

The classes use examples that are created step by step, from the business concept to the resolution.

This training is a series of small projects that will cover the process of creating a variety of volumetric effects in Houdini and rendering them using Octane.

Over the course of the 6 chapters we will cover how to build and render clouds and build a pyro shader. We'll also take a look at building custom effects such as making a gas flame and a nebula. Finally we'll take a look at how to make volume lights and create a controllable volume fog.

The add-on Mantra training will cover how to render these volumes in Mantra. The add-on however will not cover how to build the volumes. However, the files in the add-on series are completely open and you can always go through them to see how the volumes were built.
