What is normal or not is relative to the time. Do you think today a woman can live with 5 husbands ? Or will a married but childless woman (Queen for that matter) be allowed to have children with some sage ? Mythologies across all religions and cultures are filled with sexual practices which will be considered abnormal by modern standard.
Left on its own, any culture will slowly drift towards an equilibrium state where women have an upper hand in sexual freedom (e.g today's Western society which has no restrictions). This explains why almost all the religions are obsessed with suppressing women sexuality.
